Unpopular opinion here: The Tarja/Anette/Floor debate is stupid. Tarja's and Anette's dismissals should have been handled better, but ultimately, it happened and no one can change it anymore. Tarja: An amazing vocalist in her own right, but from what I heard, she's not really taking advantage of her whole range and sticks to opera. This isn't a bad thing, but she was restraining Nightwish to one specific style. She didn't really deserve to be fired the way she was, but the band didn't see an alternative at that point. Anette: I'm probably starting a spitfire with that one, but she was what the band wanted and needed at the time she was hired. Her vocal range is vastly different from Tarja's and Tuomas took advantage of that. Her voice gave the band an opportunity to go in different directions and, not gonna lie, they needed it. Again, it was a messy and undeserved ending for her NW career. She seems way more comfortable with The Dark Element. Floor: She ultimately was the best choice. Not only is her vast vocal range kicking it out of the park every time she sings, but she also brought the band back together after the Denver Debacle. Note how during GLS in Buenos Aires 2012 everyone looks noticeably relieved with her on stage (Emppu's smile when she hits The Note is a dead giveaway - and she improvised that one).
