@@wendellpereiraalmeida5037 I like all the original 5 arcade versions of SF2, but SUper TUrbo, the last official arcade release was my favorite, Super moves, throw breaks, and a hidden character, it just balanced everything where it was the perfect fighter for me. My only nitpick is the original arcade AI in single player was a bit unfair in all they really do is hit really hard.

The Last of Us Preface, I am younger, 23 now. So my history isn’t as retro as I wish it could be. I’ve recently gotten into retro and oldies, but they aren’t at those special spots for me. The Wii games mostly come from my memories of getting to play with my dad. It was our best ways to bond. Nowadays I prefer chill games, mainly on PC. The Last of Us is top tier for me as far as story telling and gameplay and I doubt anything could top it, but it would be welcomed nonetheless! Minecraft is how I met the love of my life now 10 years ago, it changed my life. So it has to be there!
Damn fine list. With a gaming history going back to the 80s, committing to a list at all is an accomplishment. Having a history of my own going back to Pitfall on the 2600, Galaga in the arcade, and Oregon Trail on the Apple IIE all the way through the PS5 today, trying to come up with ten stresses me out and I don’t even have to do it. Looking forward to part two, hombres.
I too will never forget the feeling that first time I beat Tyson. As an 8 year old, it was cool having the teenagers in the neighborhood gather around the TV to watch me beat the game. None of them believed it could be done. Good times.

Awesome list Wes! Some amazing games that I would have in my top 10 too! I need to playthrough Metal Gear Solid 3. I loved the "first" one on PS1 and played the second on PS2 but somehow missed out on 3. So many great Gen 6 games I'm finally getting to years later.

I love seeing these types of lists because there is no right or wrong and you can really get a feel for someone's gaming journey which I find fascinating. I love it. Glad you like the beer and I'm with you Wes - I'm not a big fan of the peppermint with chocolate (I hate the Andes Mints) but this beer is done well and puts you in the Christmas mood. I think the "Oreo" is just another way to say "milk stout", lol. And seriously, my pleasure. Donkey Kong Country 2 was good. But I think you chose right with the first one. It was one of those "a 16-bit console can do *that*?" moments. It was a trail blazer. I really wish I had nostalgia for retro but I came to gaming late in life HOWEVER when I do play a “new to me” retro game I typically really enjoy myself. Top 10 lists are so hard, kudos to you. I just ran through a quick list for myself but I had some (a lot of) trouble. In no particular order: Armored Core 2 (ps2): huge fan of the series as a whole, have nearly every title. While I liked the ps1 game mechanics better, seeing this on the ps2 for the first time with the new graphics was amazing. Breath of Fire 3 (ps1): my friend put me onto this game back in middle school, something just resonated. Great characters, story, combat system, etc. The dragon gene fusion is badass. Love this rpg. Castlevania: SotN (ps1): what else is there to say? This is THE Castlevania game for me. Masterpiece. Dead or Alive 2: Ultimate (xbox): the best version of DoA2 by far. I have plenty of time with the ps2 & dc versions, but this one looks the best, plays the best, and has the most content. I spent a lot of time getting gud at this title back in the day. Final Fantasy Tactics (ps1): often slept on, this is my g.o.a.t. srpg. I couldn't even tell you how many times I've gone through the game. I love the job system & character building, story's awesome too. The psp port is cool with the added content & retranslation, but suffers from slowdown. Ghouls 'n Ghosts (gen): played the shit out of this as a kid, never could get past a certain stage. This game's hard. One day about 10 years ago I had 2 friends over, I smoked a bowl then started this up... no death run up to the final boss. I didn't win but I never got that far before ever. Then I found out you have to go through the entire game again after you beat him. No thanks, that's good enough for me. My friends were like holy shit how did you do that? Gran Turismo 4 (ps2): The best GT game. Spent a lot of time with a wheel at my friend's house, who is an SCCA driver/instructor and a damn good driver. I learned a lot from this guy. Aside from that, this had so many JDM classic cars in the roster that I wish I could buy irl. With prices the way they've been, looks like that's off the table now. This series is part of the root cause for many people. Legend of Zelda (nes): my most played nes game. I was originally a genesis kid but my dad got me an nes from a tag sale with a whole lot of games included. I don't remember how far I've completed it in the past but I still bust this out once in awhile. I resonate with the maps & whatnot... Phantasy Star Online, v1&2 (gc): I originally spent quite a lot of time on pso v1 for dc, but when it was ported to gc as v1&2 together that was when I hit my stride. I had a solid group of friends irl that played locally as well as a group online. Have at least 4 high level characters in different classes and nearly all of the rare drops. Loot farming in this was the name of the game, and it was tedious. The Witcher 3 (ps4): I got back into arpgs with this. The game is brilliant from top to bottom. Great story, quests, mechanics, design, lore, everything. I absolutely love it. Honorable Mentions: Final Fantasy 8 (ps1) GTA V (ps4) Red Dead Redemption 2 (ps4) Metal Gear Solid (ps1) Street Fighter franchise (multi): too many to choose from. SF2: champion edition was my first ever genesis game. Pokemon (gba/ds): loved Pokemon ever since the original Red. Spent too much time on these, top 2 contenders would be FireRed or Diamond. Megaman X4 (ps1/sat): yes. Cyberpunk 2077 (ps4): for all it's faults, it's fantastic. Love the game, wish we got something more robust. Been playing for the entire year as of tomorrow's launch anniversary. Chronotrigger (snes): Do I even need to say anything? Streets of Rage series (gen): Love me some beat em ups. Ok, maybe consider this more like a top 20? Like I said, these lists are hard, there's still a ton more I could throw into HM but I'm gonna cap it there.
As I said during Robert's Top 10 video I would post my other 5 from my top 10 here. So here we go (I will have some reasoning to the choices in this one though) :P 1) God of War (Franchise as a whole) - Mainly due to the points you made in your pick for it. The Combat style was amazing, had to think about how to go about it as well as certain choices on how to tackle enemies. I was also a big fan of the Greek Mythology, as well as playing D&D with some good friends, the mythology of different cultures and such and that carries over to the newest one released on PS4, just a game I truly love and have from the beginning and to this day. 2) Super Mario RPG - Great spin off of the Mario games, and to me holds up as some of the best Mario games to this day to me (grant it I haven't played much since the Gamecube Era, or maybe even the 64), and I was a big fan of the FF games so to see this style of game just ticked all the boxes for me. 3) TMNT 4: Turtles in Time - When I was younger we use to have an arcade in my hometown, and this was right in the front when you first walked into it, the coop aspect of playing it even then as a kid with essentially strangers and working together to go through the levels and see the turtles in these different areas that you would never expect them to be, just a super fun game, and for sure on my Top 5 games for the SNES I want to obtain 4) Borderlands 2 (But the series as a whole) - A majorly fun shooter, and with such an extensive amount of stuff you could do. From just completing the story to maxing out your characters and finding out what builds would be the best for your playstyle. To the Holiday packs they put out, the OP Levels, Raid Bosses, and Just Hunting for all those Legendary Weapons. So much fun and have beaten this so many times. 5) Cruisin' USA - This to me is the most personal as it was a Birthday gift from my mom when I was a kid (along with the system itself). Than the memories of playing this with my brothers and just going through the campaign over and over again trying to get all the colors of vehicles and such . Would say NFS Underground 2 would beat this out, but the memories cannot be taken away and it means that much to me. Couple of Honorable Mentions for here would be - 64 Wrestling games in general, MGS 1, GH3, Prototype 1&2, Super Punch-Out Another banger of a list from you guys, Nothing but respect on all the choices, and you can see the bit of an age gap between you and Robert.

Great list Wes! All great games in their own right! Really enjoyed hearing your stories and memories around your top ten. My list would include the following: 10. Shenmue - Just an amazing game, slow burn of an action game. Spawned a great story and I don’t care if I have to wait another 20 years for part four. 9. Red Dead Redemption - great open world game, awesome story, characters, and setting. Bought a PS4 just for RDR2. 8. Paper Mario - just played through it again recently and still stands the test of time. And Color Splash on the Wii U is awesome, I don’t care what people think of it. Hell the Wii U is awesome! 7. Bases Loaded NES - countless hours spent playing this with my buddy. Things got heated sometimes, haha. 6. Techno Bowl - my first introduction into tournaments and betting. Bo Jackson was unstoppable! 5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Game (NES)/Turtles in Time (SNES) - this one is a tie but I’m counting them both together. Just amazing side scrolling beat‘em ups. 4. Super Mario 64 - the OG open world design with the different worlds/biomes. Great graphics for the time and it was amazing to see Mario in 3D back in 96. 3.Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time - nothing more needs to be said. 2. Donkey Kong Country - Agree with everything you said about this game. I always come back to it and it’s one of, if not, the best platformer ever made. 1. Mario World/SMB 3 - again enough said about both of these games. Life changing experiences as a kid growing up in the early 90’s. Honorable Mentions - Battletoads, Grand Theft Auto 3, RDR2, Crusin USA, NHL 94, Sunset Riders. Really enjoyed the video!!

@@stevesteve0521 I am a bit open worlded out, although I am amped for Elden RIng. But to me the apex of that game style were BotW for its impressive and fun exploration and WItcher 3 for its fantastic storytelling and sidequests. So I think the genre has gotten stale being so oversaturated which I feel happened to FPS's, platformers, and fighters long ago also. But the best of the best open world games are unforgetable experiences that to me were the most fun I ever had in gaming. Also the OG Zelda from 1987 was the first open world game I ever played, so to me BotW is a return to form 30 years later.

Great list this. Ive got to be honest though i’m not sure i could do an overall top 10. Enjoyed hearing your list, Wes. A lot of great games here. The original Star Fox would definitely be on my list. I know Star Fox 64 is a better game, but the first one was what convinced me to finally get a second-hand SNES with my lawn mowing money back in 1994 and I’ve played it more than any other SNES game over the years since.

@@wendellpereiraalmeida5037 I like all the original 5 arcade versions of SF2, but SUper TUrbo, the last official arcade release was my favorite, Super moves, throw breaks, and a hidden character, it just balanced everything where it was the perfect fighter for me. My only nitpick is the original arcade AI in single player was a bit unfair in all they really do is hit really hard.

It’s so damn hard to pick fav’s of all time. Once you throw in sentimental gaming memories throughout different chapters of your life, those choices definitely become more defined. Preface, I am younger, 23 now. So my history isn’t as retro as I wish it could be. I’ve recently gotten into retro and oldies, but they aren’t at those special spots for me. The Wii games mostly come from my memories of getting to play with my dad. It was our best ways to bond. Nowadays I prefer chill games, mainly on PC. The Last of Us is top tier for me as far as story telling and gameplay and I doubt anything could top it, but it would be welcomed nonetheless! Minecraft is how I met the love of my life now 10 years ago, it changed my life. So it has to be there!
Damn fine list. With a gaming history going back to the 80s, committing to a list at all is an accomplishment. Having a history of my own going back to Pitfall on the 2600, Galaga in the arcade, and Oregon Trail on the Apple IIE all the way through the PS5 today, trying to come up with ten stresses me out and I don’t even have to do it. Looking forward to part two, hombres.

I too will never forget the feeling that first time I beat Tyson. As an 8 year old, it was cool having the teenagers in the neighborhood gather around the TV to watch me beat the game. None of them believed it could be done. Good times.

Awesome list Wes! Some amazing games that I would have in my top 10 too! I need to playthrough Metal Gear Solid 3. I loved the "first" one on PS1 and played the second on PS2 but somehow missed out on 3. So many great Gen 6 games I'm finally getting to years later.

Top 10 lists are so hard, kudos to you. I just ran through a quick list for myself but I had some (a lot of) trouble. In no particular order:
Armored Core 2 (ps2): huge fan of the series as a whole, have nearly every title. While I liked the ps1 game mechanics better, seeing this on the ps2 for the first time with the new graphics was amazing.
Breath of Fire 3 (ps1): my friend put me onto this game back in middle school, something just resonated. Great characters, story, combat system, etc. The dragon gene fusion is badass. Love this rpg.
Castlevania: SotN (ps1): what else is there to say? This is THE Castlevania game for me. Masterpiece.
Dead or Alive 2: Ultimate (xbox): the best version of DoA2 by far. I have plenty of time with the ps2 & dc versions, but this one looks the best, plays the best, and has the most content. I spent a lot of time getting gud at this title back in the day.
Final Fantasy Tactics (ps1): often slept on, this is my g.o.a.t. srpg. I couldn't even tell you how many times I've gone through the game. I love the job system & character building, story's awesome too. The psp port is cool with the added content & retranslation, but suffers from slowdown.
Ghouls 'n Ghosts (gen): played the shit out of this as a kid, never could get past a certain stage. This game's hard. One day about 10 years ago I had 2 friends over, I smoked a bowl then started this up... no death run up to the final boss. I didn't win but I never got that far before ever. Then I found out you have to go through the entire game again after you beat him. No thanks, that's good enough for me. My friends were like holy shit how did you do that?
Gran Turismo 4 (ps2): The best GT game. Spent a lot of time with a wheel at my friend's house, who is an SCCA driver/instructor and a damn good driver. I learned a lot from this guy. Aside from that, this had so many JDM classic cars in the roster that I wish I could buy irl. With prices the way they've been, looks like that's off the table now. This series is part of the root cause for many people.
Legend of Zelda (nes): my most played nes game. I was originally a genesis kid but my dad got me an nes from a tag sale with a whole lot of games included. I don't remember how far I've completed it in the past but I still bust this out once in awhile. I resonate with the maps & whatnot...
Phantasy Star Online, v1&2 (gc): I originally spent quite a lot of time on pso v1 for dc, but when it was ported to gc as v1&2 together that was when I hit my stride. I had a solid group of friends irl that played locally as well as a group online. Have at least 4 high level characters in different classes and nearly all of the rare drops. Loot farming in this was the name of the game, and it was tedious.
The Witcher 3 (ps4): I got back into arpgs with this. The game is brilliant from top to bottom. Great story, quests, mechanics, design, lore, everything. I absolutely love it.

Cyberpunk 2077 (ps4): for all it's faults, it's fantastic. Love the game, wish we got something more robust. Been playing for the entire year as of tomorrow's launch anniversary.
Chronotrigger (snes): Do I even need to say anything?
Streets of Rage series (gen): Love me some beat em ups.
Ok, maybe consider this more like a top 20? Like I said, these lists are hard, there's still a ton more I could throw into HM but I'm gonna cap it there.

As I said during Robert's Top 10 video I would post my other 5 from my top 10 here. So here we go (I will have some reasoning to the choices in this one though) :P
1) God of War (Franchise as a whole) - Mainly due to the points you made in your pick for it. The Combat style was amazing, had to think about how to go about it as well as certain choices on how to tackle enemies. I was also a big fan of the Greek Mythology, as well as playing D&D with some good friends, the mythology of different cultures and such and that carries over to the newest one released on PS4, just a game I truly love and have from the beginning and to this day.
2) Super Mario RPG - Great spin off of the Mario games, and to me holds up as some of the best Mario games to this day to me (grant it I haven't played much since the Gamecube Era, or maybe even the 64), and I was a big fan of the FF games so to see this style of game just ticked all the boxes for me.
3) TMNT 4: Turtles in Time - When I was younger we use to have an arcade in my hometown, and this was right in the front when you first walked into it, the coop aspect of playing it even then as a kid with essentially strangers and working together to go through the levels and see the turtles in these different areas that you would never expect them to be, just a super fun game, and for sure on my Top 5 games for the SNES I want to obtain
4) Borderlands 2 (But the series as a whole) - A majorly fun shooter, and with such an extensive amount of stuff you could do. From just completing the story to maxing out your characters and finding out what builds would be the best for your playstyle. To the Holiday packs they put out, the OP Levels, Raid Bosses, and Just Hunting for all those Legendary Weapons. So much fun and have beaten this so many times.
5) Cruisin' USA - This to me is the most personal as it was a Birthday gift from my mom when I was a kid (along with the system itself). Than the memories of playing this with my brothers and just going through the campaign over and over again trying to get all the colors of vehicles and such . Would say NFS Underground 2 would beat this out, but the memories cannot be taken away and it means that much to me.

9. Red Dead Redemption - great open world game, awesome story, characters, and setting. Bought a PS4 just for RDR2.
8. Paper Mario - just played through it again recently and still stands the test of time. And Color Splash on the Wii U is awesome, I don’t care what people think of it. Hell the Wii U is awesome!
7. Bases Loaded NES - countless hours spent playing this with my buddy. Things got heated sometimes, haha.
6. Techno Bowl - my first introduction into tournaments and betting. Bo Jackson was unstoppable!
5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Game (NES)/Turtles in Time (SNES) - this one is a tie but I’m counting them both together. Just amazing side scrolling beat‘em ups.
4. Super Mario 64 - the OG open world design with the different worlds/biomes. Great graphics for the time and it was amazing to see Mario in 3D back in 96.
3.Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time - nothing more needs to be said.
2. Donkey Kong Country - Agree with everything you said about this game. I always come back to it and it’s one of, if not, the best platformer ever made.
1. Mario World/SMB 3 - again enough said about both of these games. Life changing experiences as a kid growing up in the early 90’s.

MGS3 is my Favorite Game of All Time and I Have the Platinum Trophy 🏆 for it and MGS1 is my 2nd Favorite Game of All Time

@@stevesteve0521 I am a bit open worlded out, although I am amped for Elden RIng. But to me the apex of that game style were BotW for its impressive and fun exploration and WItcher 3 for its fantastic storytelling and sidequests. So I think the genre has gotten stale being so oversaturated which I feel happened to FPS's, platformers, and fighters long ago also. But the best of the best open world games are unforgetable experiences that to me were the most fun I ever had in gaming. Also the OG Zelda from 1987 was the first open world game I ever played, so to me BotW is a return to form 30 years later.

Great list this. Ive got to be honest though i’m not sure i could do an overall top 10. So to test myself I’m gonna try and make a list by console and then see if i can do it, wish me luck 😂 I Just find it hard to compare different generations of games. SNES/Genesis vs PS4/Xbox One games… really difficult so well done for putting it together.

I'm not a fan of wrestling and boxing games, and I've never played Jackal, but it's otherwise a great top 10, Wes. And I love your reasons for why you love some of the games I don't: it shows how great of a bonding experience games can be.
Enjoyed hearing your list, Wes. A lot of great games here. The original Star Fox would definitely be on my list. I know Star Fox 64 is a better game, but the first one was what convinced me to finally get a second-hand SNES with my lawn mowing money back in 1994 and I’ve played it more than any other SNES game over the years since.
