The right pack is made of better material. Far better. I’ve had both . That Herschel is for school. Right pack anything . Lifetime warranty and it lasts much longer Quality is the same but since the right pack is made of Cordura , at the cost for the pop quiz , right pack vs pop quiz: right pack win / pop quiz loose, by a large margin.

    • @angelopebs
      @angelopebs 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@erichan6985 not quite. I have both. I also have a jansport watchtower, various super breaks, a hatchet, and a parkland (herschel sister company) vintage bag, so I think I have a good feel of both, especially jansport. Agree with you about the lifetime warranty as well as the cordura being better, but the Pop Quiz is simply thicker and therefore more dense. The organization on the Pop Quiz is a lot better too. Though yeah I'd say the Right Pack is such a classic, it's really for anything and you can use it anywhere. Pop Quiz looks better in a school or work setting.

for me no lining in the JanSports works better. Gives me freedom in its use and adaptability. Also the no lining helps to use better empty spaces and maximize the capacity. I think it depends in tastes and lifestyle usages. JanSport a bit more for adventure. Herschel more fashionable and for office. I'm a JanSports user and fan. Love the zippers, they are smooth and easy to use. The pads and the shoulder straps are really confortable. And also de adjustment of the straps for the hight are really easy to adjust. Good comparison!

I agree on all your points. I'm a huge fan of jansport. I of the main things I like about jansport is the relaxed design. I'm not a fan of the stiff material qhen it comes to backpacks. I have had 1 jansport for almost 12 years and a but bag for 10 years. I wash both about 1 every 2 weeks and they have lasted So well. I'm in the market for another backpack but though I'd check out this comparison. Like you said, I use mine for more of an adventure lifestyle versus tech lifestyle. Now I just got to choose a color to get in the right backpack. Grey, Blue, Maroon or blush 🤔

I have both backpacks and may I say, I think the leather bottom of the herschel is better (for me) because when I first used my jansport backpack, the suede just easily ripped and now I can't really wear my jansport because it has a big rip on it

    • @vonwaq
      @vonwaq ปีที่แล้ว +6

i feel like that was just an unlucky experience, do you think your herschel would not have ripped under the same circumstance? also, herschel uses fake leather which peels off just 1-3 years of use depending on how often you use it, whereas it wouldn't be the case for jansport.

i bought a right pack on summer 2018 (on my first term of university) and a pop quiz the year after. i am an engineering student, and here are my thoughts about them both.
    *JANSPORT: right pack*
    - great fabric materials! SOOOO many cute designs that made me have to think for days on which option to buy. kinda sad that the colors faded throughout the years. but no tearings and such🙂‍↕️
    - i LOVE the pockets. they have more compartments on the front too. also have a laptop sleeve inside, but the padding felt very thin to me and i always put my laptop inside a padded pouch before putting it inside.
    - it’s very comfortable to carry the bag full of clothes. not really good if i have to bring heavy textbooks and big pile of thick practicum reports, and laptop for a full day activity in campus.
    - love love love the zipper. so easy to open in the class, stress-free. although i do have to say, it’s making me paranoid to bring on a commute, especially on rush hours, as they kinda open easily, even more when the load is heavy.
    - the padded straps are very comfy, but once again, if you carry heavy loads, it kinda give extra pressure to my shoulder.
    - the suede underside looks amazing, but after using it for a year, it kind of thins out… and that’s why i needed a new backpack for heavier loads. but i still use the right pack for lighter loads and travels up until now (2024)
after using right pack for one year, i decided to buy pop quiz, at end of summer, 2019.
    *HERSCHEL: pop quiz*
    - thick and sturdy fabric materials. survived through heavy rains too. saved my laptop from the storm😭
    - there are only one front pocket, but i love the compartments, and the key hook. helps me for quick access for lots of time. also have to mention the upper inside small pocket where you could store your phone and wallet. i love how it is lined with padded fleece-like fabric. there are also a small hole for wired earphones/cables access. love them so much.
    - it’s very much comfortable to wear around anywhere. fits my laptop perfectly, and all the heavy stuffs. the laptop sleeve is padded and fleece-lined too. the downside is, it is kinda on the heavier side, and it takes lot of space when i am travelling in my motorbike (if i bring lots of stuffs).
    - the zippers are tough but it’s not that bad, it’s not laggy. proven safe to bring on a packed metro. the fabrics stay the same until now, no tearings also it’s kind of rain-proof.
    - the padded straps are the best. i’ve carried a 10kg load for a full day and it is comfy. never gave any issues to my scoliosis.
    - the synthetic leather underside looks great, but after using it for a year, it the leather wears out and came off patchy. but it’s not a big problem for me because the fabric layer underneath looks okay and you can’t really tell the difference between the leather-layered fabric and the one that’s been peeled off. do note that my backpack is full-black colored.
all in all, i love my purchases!! the right pack is just right to carry lots of stuff, but the pop quiz is better if you have to carry heavy loads for a long time. jansports have lots of cute designs, whereas herschel is kind of limited. but i really liked the pop quiz for the comfort and sturdiness that i bought an extra bag with different design.
p.s.: i initially wanted to buy the right pack digital edition but it’s pretty hard to find then and now😔

    1) Sage Green Right Pack
    2) Navy Right Pack
I just ordered my 3rd 1 given 11 years of stains and wear had made it look a little ratty & I wanted to change up my wardrobe for the first time in a decade. So I got the black City View
I only buy clothing when everything I own is old, worn out, and no longer fashionable to me (aka every decade). Ill be keeping my previous bag as a spare. Definitely the backpack to get if you are the type who only invests in well made clothing (and only buy clothing to replace worn out items)

It's a real shame that Herschel chooses the fake leather, it starts peeling off after less than a year of use. Other than that, the Pop Quiz is great. I've had mine for almost five years, it's a practical and sturdy everyday and travelling backpack (although it does weight a bit so you should consider that if you are taking it on a plane). I'm seriously considering having the fake leather bottom changed (like reupholstered) so that I can keep using the bag without leaving a trail of brown bits of fabric everywhere I go

imo, the main point of this bag is the leather bottom. i found my old right pack and the leather bottom patina really nice.

I had jansport from 7th grade to 10grade, then I wanted to pick a nicer looking bag like Herschel, but barely made it threw the year before zipper gave up and started to fray at the opening, I went back to old jansport bag. Lasted me to graduation prolly still had a few years left. It was a hand me down aswell. I carried all my stuff in there. 38lbs worth of stuff. I ran it pretty hard.

    Jansport's Cordura material
    Herchel's pockets

I would pick Jansport and the suede bottom, but I also dropped my bag before with my laptop inside, and it cracked, so wish it had a protection at the bottom.

hi, loving your videos. I have one problem though, I have difficulties in opening the front compartment zipper of my Herschel Pop Quiz, most of times it's very hard to open it, not very smooth as the main compartment zipper. My question is, is it a product defect or is it normal like that? thanks Backpackies :)

Can anyone tell me whether or not the Jansport uses YKK zippers? The video touches on the zippers but, bafflingly, doesn't identify the brand of zipper - an absolutely basic piece of information for anybody with any interest/knowledge of backpacks. I don't get out of bed for zippers which are not YKK, basically.

It this laptop in the video is 15 inch? I have 17 inch Dell XPS with thin bezels so it is not very large. And considering to buy Herschel. And it looks like it could fit

Jansport is one of largest backpackers maker along with The North Face, Eastpack, and other brands owned by VFC.
The green color Jansport Right Pack is great and I don’t purchase the Herschel brand because the internal design looks like a female color.
I own a North Face Recon because I like to be more sporty looks. I can add a bungee that makes it looks like the Raven Skule 28 and Borealis.
