- From December to the end of March, you often hear the sound of "tuk tuk tuk" around you but it is tough to see that bird sitting on the tree - this little and beautiful bird is Coppersmith Barbet. In this video you can see the beauty of this bird and watch the action with a very clear voice of Coppersmith Barbet.
The Coppersmith Barbet or Crimson-breasted Barbet or Coppersmith (Megalaima haemacephala) is a bird with crimson forehead and throat which is best known for its metronomic call that has been likened to a coppersmith striking metal with a hammer.
Like other barbets, they chisel out a hole inside a tree to build their nest.
They are mainly fruit eating but will take sometimes insects, especially winged termites.
Habitat and distribution :-
It is a resident found in South Asia and parts of Southeast Asia.
Throughout their wide range they are found in gardens, groves and sparse woodland. Habitats with trees having dead wood suitable for excavation is said to be important. Birds nest and roost in cavities.

I sighted this bird today from my building terrace in Mumbai. It was alone on the top of a an ashok tree. I watched for a long while as it gave its beckoning call. I was entranced.
I was extremely lucky to watch it at very close quarters, just a 15 feet,m sitting clearly facing me and singing his serenade as if to me, for he looked straight at me un afraid , and just looking its handsome self in tge breakfast time light warm sunlight.
lovely minutes for me and him at the top of his world.

I have this bird
It is amazing. At my home town prayagraj there are so many big gardens but till now I didn't see a single barbet ,really it is very difficult to see them, but I often heard their voices.
