  • With a low poit far back I will need to place my ball more backwards then the normal golfer. What is your best ball position?

    i just bought a bag of 3.25" tees today. I found one on the range yesterday and was crushing my drives with a beautiful draw. Thank you. Thank you!

    I started doing this last year after first watching this and other videos from Marcus and now can't imagine hotting an iron forward in my stance. This has given me a consistent draw and so much more distance. The quality of the ball strike playing it back has improved ten-fold - thx Marcus!

    This is such good stuff for many golfers. I discovered this years ago after having problems with fat shots. Was just a natural change that made sense to me. I have a few friends that are now using this style as they have gotten older. They gain more speed and have less stress physically. It doesn't work for everybody, but as Marcus says, do what works for you.

      Let’s be clear… you are a rear poster / back foot hitter. The other options are Center of pelvis, pivot or front poster/front foot hitter..⛳️🏌🏻‍♂️ You’re Domo. I also will come in to play you’re probably left eye dominant so I like the ball back. And then there’s a mandatory two-stroke penalty from playing from the left side of the ball! L O L.

    Thanks for the explanation on the driver low point & ball position for the Irons. It make sense to keep the same low point and just set your ball back with your irons. This make so much sense. Like always great content.

    just from watching your other videos and understanding your technique, I came to the conclusion that I would have to move the ball position back. Driver in the middle and irons further back. I'm excited to try this. It never made sense to me to try to hit it from the inside when the ball is forward, like everyone says to do. It always struck me as geometrically impossible to do that. But I've been trying to do it anyway, and always slicing.

    Thanks Marcus. I enjoyed this video. I have been moving the ball about in my stance for a while, taking the club back on the inside and then swinging through on the same line. For irons centre of stance seems to suit me but funnily enough Driver inside my heel at address seems to suit me, further back and I hook. Always a work in progress. Alistair

    i started playing the ball back recently from thinking how i used to shoot a slapshot when i played hockey and the puck would be more back of center to kinda hit down on it i guess. so now i have very good contact and shots but the ball is a more low draw but consistent and i don't have to think too much about the action just like in hockey, take it back and hit it.

    I think the driver is the easiest club to hit well... it's teed up, on level turf and you get alot of time to make a big release. the irons I find alot harder... usually an unlevel lie, on the ground and maybe not even a good lie. I enjoy hearing your logic about your ball position.... I was wondering that myself. I will try a ball position for the irons alittle back in my stance and see if that helps my release timing.

    • @GolfwithMarcusEdblad
      @GolfwithMarcusEdblad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Think more about the turf than the ball. If we start by brushing the ground without a golfball and then try to bring that motion to our golfball it often becomes easier.

    I'm hitting my driver great now making my driver swing like my baseball seeing. It works for me. But I do have to much lateral shift which works for my irons. But I know it's making me hit down. What is the best swing thought to keep behind the ball. My low point is well behind the ball but probably doesn't stay there.

    • @GolfwithMarcusEdblad
      @GolfwithMarcusEdblad  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The low point needs to stay behind the ball when you reach impact. A baseball swing is more horizontal and makes us move around a lot. Maybe this video can help:

    I always seem to have the ball creep forward and then wonder why the ball fades more than I like. You have explained it very well. I have moved the ball back with good success but I must focus on staying more centered for it to work for me.
    I watched Rory Mcilory using a 44.25" and hitting bombs all week at the Players. I see you use a 44.5" length driver. Is going shorter something you recommend?

    • @GolfwithMarcusEdblad
      @GolfwithMarcusEdblad  ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a shorter driver because I'm lazy. It's easier to release and control and I can live without the 10 yards I loose. I think more golfers should try it but if you want maximum distance it's not to recommend.

    Hi Marcus, I can see your point re the ball position, but from the camera angle on your video, it also looks like your head and chest are looking even further
    behind the ball. Is this a "trick of the camera" or is it true to say this..? Once again, brilliant instruction my young friend. Even at over 70 years old, I am still
    learning, and you are a great teacher. It's a pity you weren't around when I was younger and I could have made even more from your methods...

      Hi. Some of it can be camera angle. My chest points more towards my hands (slightly forward from ball with irons) but my head leans a little backwards and even more hitting a driver.

    • @GolfwithMarcusEdblad

      Patrick, I normally don't change ball position or stance between irons. It's more the kind of shot I like to hit that forces a change.

    Question...Would a good practice drill with the driver be to tee the ball where you would strike up at the ball but keep your eye and starting point with driver at the low point in the swing? That would mean you are not looking at the teed ball but at the low point and your swing would do the rest and you would feel where the contact would be made? Just thinking. I really like your methodology being a left handed golfer myself your videos are perfect for me. I have a terrible driver slice only and I think your method will be the remedy I need.

    • @GolfwithMarcusEdblad
      @GolfwithMarcusEdblad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jason. There are so many different ways you can learn this. I think you need to try, it sounds like a drill that could work. In the end we need to feel the club going to the low point and up again but if this takes you there, go for it. 👍

      I think we need to move forward in the golf swing. Getting stuck on the trail foot is not the best. We need to separate how we hit driver and irons, they are not the same. I think of it as two different sports.
