They are about a young man's first sexual experience (when you wake up the man) with an older, much more experienced, very erotic woman. When they first meet he is extremely nervous (young man, get smart, don't you stop this things before we start) and she is definitely in command (in the voice of a giant) but by time they get to her room things have changed. Her voice is softer and sensual (in the voice of a child), not to mention persuasive (what's your fantasy? live it with me). Considering the subject matter (a one night stand) the lyrics are anything but cheesy or crass. This is a very clever piece of songwriting and I love it.

AOR at it's finest! So much out there that never got famous....this kinda sound is my cup of tea....I kinda think NEW ENGLAND created this style single handedly in 78 and 79....just my thoughts, long live AOR hard rock....Angel and Journey pioneered it also!

Overall, Outside Edge may be forgotten, given you cannot find copies in stores or be heard on FM radio, but does sound like the 2017-ized 1980s flavor. In other words, seeing, as many Indie artists from Bandcamp (such as Magic Dance) sound nigh identical. Perhaps Nu AOR? In summary, Outside Edge, it could be 30 years old or brand new. Say, it aged well, obscurity aside.
It seems that the '80s were a great time for these bands. This stuff could do great in this decade [in the 2020s] but music stations have truly forgotten about this type of music. Pop music, Country music, Capella ensembles like Voces 8, and Folkloric music are not and is not the future for the USA.
