Given the financial situation of Parks Victoria, VOLUNTEER, UNPAID "Friends of the Prom" should build a few "4WD Toll Roads" ...

Endless scenery by the looks of it! Absolutely stunning views! It’s always the harder trails that reward with the best views and best sense of adventure

I have walked the complete Northern Prom circuit three times. I would never walk it in high summer. :-0.
Mid Autumn was the time I did it each time. The sun was not too hot, the insects had backed off from their campaign of pestilence and the swamp was not wet at all. Plus there was still some water flowing at the fresh water sources.

Thanks for that info. Old age & arthritis prevent me from walking to the North East corner of the prom. Hikers have walked there via the East coast and say it is extremely dangerous.
My Bucket List includes a goal to find & put a marker on the lost graves of the Petersen family at Biddies Cove where Julia Georges Petersen, one of her children & her half sister, Susan Corbett, drowned in November 1861. The child's body was never found but Mrs Petersen & Susan were buried above the high water mark near the point at the eastern end of Biddy's cove beach where corner inlet meets Bass straight.
Charles Petersen was the corner inlet sea pilot who lived with his wife & 3 children at Biddy's cove. He returned home to find his family missing. The two younger children, 3 & 5 yo, were found in their boat anchored in the cove, .
If you or your hiking mates are young & fit enough to get there, you could make a great video about the escaped convicts who once lived at Biddy's Cove before it became the corner Inlet pilot station & the tragic drowning in November 1861.
It would be great if you could search for any trace of the Petersen home near a running creek, about 180 metres above the Western end of the beach. The graves are on the Eastern side of beach towards the point. There was once a grave marker & picket fence around the grave.
As for Charles Petersen (1831 - 1906), he remarried a relative of my sister in law & later ran the Esplanade Hotel, cnr Gellibrand & Symonds, at Queenscliff. He is buried at Point Lonsdale cemetery. It is said that his ghost is often seen in the kitchen of the old pub.
GIPPSLAND TIMES ARTICLE 22 NOV 1861:
Google "Julia Petersen + corner inlet" & look for article "DEPLORABLE DEATH BY DROWNING OF THREE PERSONS"

Looks like a interesting hike. Was a very informative video. Must have been tough going in the heat especially when you have to bush bash your own trail. I am going in April so hopefully a little cooler and a little bit more water flowing.

Good stuff Marcus, yes it should hopefully be a bit better by April. Looking back on this hike now I can certainly appreciate the beauty of the whole Northern Prom a bit more. I hope you enjoy it and glad the video was helpful.

I've done this walk three times and I love it. But it's not a walk for summer due to lack of water and lack of shade!

Great informed video. I'll give this hike a big miss.... I love the music and especially the song you used at the beginning - what is it?

Thanks very much, glad you liked it. And good idea giving this one a miss, me and my mates still have nightmares from this hike. The song is Passing a Foreign Moon
, by 'I Think I Can Help You'. Its one of the free songs in TH-cam studio.
