I honestly thought my eyes had deceived me the first time I saw Jimmy's shot on the pink. The ball stopped dead,
and it was flying. I agree with Kamram, Trump's shot is more difficult. But Jimmy's looked more awesome.

Brilliant shot from Judd, but more significantly, it seemed to 'wake him up' in the match against Barry. He was unstoppable from that shot on.. So not only is it a shot we'll see on highlight reels for years to come, it also was a gamechanger in the match.

Amazing. I loved playing snooker as a teen. Small town Canada. I cannot believe it has gotten to this next to impossible level of skill...especially in the moment. That kid’s cue control and creativity is pretty much mind boggling. I played in Junior with a friend who had that kind of audacity in how he approached the table and his shots. I was more tentative and thoughtful, so I used to win most of our games. I always maintain he was a better player. R.I.P. Dave Fletcher, best pool player I ever knew. Your demos of how these shots are conceived of and executed are a fantastic resource. Maybe I will take it up again, but damn...The competition is fierce, isn’t it🤣?

Yeah Jimmy White's pink was similar but hand on table and less distance. The trick is getting just the right topspin so it nullifies the ball's movement backwards but doesn't make it over-spin forwards. I have never done such a shot.

I think Judd may also - very naughtily! - be playing other people's 'greatest hits' for fun. Not long ago he played the screw/check shot off the long blue, made famous by Alex Higgins in "THAT" break. Shortly before this green, he played a screw from black in and out of baulk with a ton of check to spring a red from the side cush, very similar to a shot that Mark Williams played in a match last year. And this shot with the green is very similar to a pink that Jimmy played against Wille Thorne in an exhibition match. He also played a (much simpler) straight pink and screwed off the angle of the middle pocket for position on the final black, a shot that Steve Davis used to like to play. He might even be taking requests from his pals, who knows!

Love that two-colour ball slow mo. It explains it perfectly. Maybe the ball loses about half of its top spin when hitting the cushion? Too much topspin and the cueball will arc back to the baulk cushion. Too little and it will not stop suddenly. But difficult to get too much topspin at that distance, combined with being so close to the cushion because inevitably you need to strike down a little.

You missed out the key to this shot. The butt of Judd's cue was slightly raised (Partly because the white was on the cushion) which increases the amount of top spin/action you can get on the cueball. It's similar to the masse shot in that sense. I'm not saying I could do it though ! Anyway, I've not played in over thirty years and doubt I could even pot the green !

Imo Judd is the best trickshot player in history. He is winning a nice few tournaments these days to.If he is to remembered as one of the best players ever he needs to find a way to win the 3 major's because for all his amazing talent he's only won 3 major's in his 16 year career which is very good for some players but for a player of Judd's talent it not great when you look at Selby who has 8 Williams 7 Robertson 6 Murphy 5 ding 4, Higgins is second on tour with 9 but he played all of his career at the same time as Williams and O'Sullivan who has an amazing 20.So I hope Judd deals with the pressure of winning the major's because he's unbelievable at times and only a few months ago he missed the final pink in the final frame to win the UK championship and with he's talent he should win close to 10.

Great looking shot, I think other shots he has done have been more impressive with use of side off cushions and distance travelled etc, this is a hit as hard as you can timing shot concentrating on potting the green as hard as possible and alot of natural topspin which stops the white naturally, to have the cue power is very impressive though.

It was amazing Judds shot, the accuracy at such a long distance between cue and object ball, and to still have enough top spin on it when it hit the green, is superb!
It’s just the shear pace of the white ball that forces it over to the left of the table when it hits the green, otherwise like you said, it naturally travels back down to the pink and black area.

@@emilyscloset2648 oh I not disagreeing with you. Seeing some of the shots people can play is amazing. My favourite snooker player was Jimmy White for that exact reason.

Great shot... look for "Jimmy White paranormal pink" I can't find a good quality video of it but Jimmy goes pink to black and the cue ball stops even faster.

Jimmy was the first player i saw do this shot but that was a total deferent level of difficulty ...well done replicating that 1 - basically top spin reverses into backspin off the cushion ...they had more reactive cloth and steel block cushions so your attempt was every bit as good in my mind ...you could not hit that any better

Will you offer coaching after lockdown. I’m 16 years old and really want to improve my game and hopefully join the local league and am looking for someone to help coach me into become an overall better player. Thanks, Ryan

Very similar to, but not quite as impressive as a Jimmy White shot, that he pulled out in competion, when he was in his twenties. I have tried to find a clip of that shot several times, but if it still exists, then I suspect it's still on tape in a BBC archive somewhere. More likely to have been wiped though to be honest.

Thanks a lot! Most of the power is absorbed by the two balls colliding. Didn't do any damage to the table at all 😃
