Not a technical expert on this but if it is possible, India could setup satellite jammers so that any surveillance telemetry from Coco islands to China via its satellites can be interrupted. Of course, offline mechanisms can't be ruled out.. but it at least cuts down the possibilities of real-time surveillance (which is a key to success in modern warfare)

Any enemy port on Bay of Bengal or Arabian Sea is within direct line of fire of Indian navy. Sure China can bypass Malacca Strait during peacetime. However, during a wartime, anything that can help them will be under blockade or raid. That includes anything on Coco Island also.

Prashant sir, China is also building ports in Myanmar so that they can avoid Malacca Strait and can transport goods on land(Myanmar) to bay of bengal and then go to Indian ocean directly. How does this affect the stratergic importance of Andaman and Nicobar islands?
Any enemy port on Bay of Bengal or Arabian Sea is within direct line of fire of Indian navy. Sure China can bypass Malacca Strait during peacetime. However, during a wartime, anything that can help them will be under blockade or raid. That includes anything on Coco Island also.

@@bowxfire5275 I doubt Myanmar soldiers will garrison it in case of intense China India conflict. Even if they do, then we simply have to blockade it. And push comes to shove, Myanmar will take chinses side of the conflict. So, our priorities will be clear. That does not mean that we will attack the port. Unless Myanmar attacks us first. Just like 1971 War.

Best solution is develop 10 plus trillion dollar Indian economy as soon as possible. With 10 trillion $ economy India can afford 250 billion $ defence budget and there will massive money to invest in neighbouring countries to counter China. With massive economy, china cheque book is much much thicker than India's cheque book. We need to develop our economy fast with help of G7 countries investment (along with investment from South Korea, Saudi Arabia and UAE).
