    I'd say keep the bike for you. Don't let your dreams be dreams and let it go. I've learned that with cars and bikes when you talk to these older people. They always say "I used to own this and that back in the day" and watch their face just drop into a frown. Certainly don't want that to be you.

      While I do fully understand that sentiment I actually know this won't be a bike I fall in love with in stock form. I like to modify everything as stock just doesn't do it for me. I wasnt around when these bikes were new so the meaning is different. I can promise you there is much more to come in CBX land I have yet to reveal.

    "Honda is my jam" makes total sense to me:) I picked up a '79 CBX a couple of years ago, and I went through the whole bike except the engine....fortunately when I got it running it had only two issues leaking valve seals and spark boxes breaking down about 40 minutes into a ride...all fixed up now and runs great. It's a blast to ride!

    You are not the only person on the planet excited to do a set of CBX carbs. I just had the first CBX in my shop and it needed plenty of work including a carb redo. They were really fun to take apart and put back together. It was a huge moment of pride when the bike started up and ran very well for not being vacuum synced yet. Excited to see where this bike takes you!

    They're just such a great looking bike. I'm a bit late to this series as I've only just found your channel. I remember it was a red one that came into the workshop I was running for a service. I test rode it and thought 'I have to have one of these!' I bought one off one of the directors of Honda Britain. He'd had it painted in the standard colour scheme but metal flake blue. The only blue CBX Honda ever made. This was around '82 I guess. It was amazing, I was only 17 riding the world's fastest production motorcycle 😍
    I didn't know US models had those high rise handlebars. I'd definitely go for changing them for European low bars. The ones fitted to the dohc 750 and 900 fit straight on.

    Your CBX will be awesome once you've finished with it. Of course, you wouldn't find any spare parts from Honda. If I remember correctly, I got a letter? or something in the 90s? from Honda Corp. that stated that they would not longer make stock parts for motorcycles older than 20 years {I had purchased a new 1985 CB650SC in 86 from a Honda MC dealership}. My understanding was up until that point, you could still get parts on any Honda motorcycle they had made regardless of the year manufactured. Well, of course that ended 20.. 30 years ago... . Good luck and enjoy the built. Hope you can get or make what you need to restore that beast. :-)

      Nope the rest of the bike absolutely suggests 11k. The engine could have had a failure up top causing what you see and therefore the shoddy work. The rod and main bearings all look to be in fantastic shape and the crank mics out to factory so I do stand behind the 11k

    Sorry if this has been asked/answered already but what are the advantages/cons of dry ice blasting?

    • @BrickHouseBuilds
      @BrickHouseBuilds 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries. Originally when I made this video I had hoped to not have to disassemble the engine. Because of that I wanted to use a blasting method that wouldn't leave any potentially harmful grit like vapor honing and such as with the engine assembled I cant clean anything internally with confidence.
      Vapor honing is a great method but not reccomend for assembled engines where you may get that grit inside.
      Dry ice leaves no residue but takes a much more dedicated setup to do in volume
