I recently just started learning about gyms and minerals and I find it extremely fascinating and can't wait to get the money together to get some of these stones and try to cut them for myself
I found something absolutely crazy yesterday! It's a nickel size piece of fire Obsidian with moldavite and there are tiny crystals sticking out of it that are every color of the rainbow. At first glance I thought I found a meteorite but I'm not disappointed as it is so much more interesting. To bad it wasn't bigger bc it would be a show stopper but I'm none the less happy with it.
One stone I would love to have would be copper replacement agate. There are alternating bands of agate and copper, so it looks like a slab of copper with agate banding. Really cool stuff.👍
I think the slab you pick up at about 9:13 is Schalenblende. I bought a slab of that at a gem show in Eastern Washington and couldn’t believe my eyes when I first saw it. I ended up cutting it and it crumbled up like crazy, so I stabilized the remaining bits and cabbed them. In retrospect I wish I hadn’t cut it up, but at least now I know how crumbly it is. That slab was from Poland, but you’re right - it’s found in several different European countries. The metal component, I believe, is Galena. And the orange/yellow bands are not jasper - those are sulfides.
The purple sugilite was fantastic. Great livestream video Dave! Sorry I missed it live. My mom has air plants. They look great on the mountain scenery. Might have to see if I can make something like that for my mom.
@@lapidarydave I tried that 1st. My google search came up no match results. It gave me knicklebloom. I did find a green almost botriodial mineral. After fighting google 5xs, My search was not for Nichole Bloom.🤣 I'll try again. That was gorgeous mtrl. I'd love to cut some cabs in those tans & browns for next fall fashion.🥰 You're the best Dave.😁
@@lapidarydave , for the meteor only landing in Karelia, Russia a couple of billions of years ago, it’s found ONLY in that area, not trying to be argumentative or a know it all (cause that, I’m certainly not!) but how can you say it’s everywhere?? Many have a hard time locating it unless they order from the mines in Russia. Also when I’ve received it, I’ve had to test it to see that it’s Shungite. (And not some other black stone) If it’s so common, please share where it can be obtained easily. Thanks…. I like it for its properties.
@@katherineknapp8838 No worries my friend I don’t think you were being argumentative I just mean that a lot of vendors sell it at every venue during the Tucson show one of which is quasar who is a super large vendor who shows that almost every venue they are dedicated Shanghai people are quasars who my family buys Shungite
@@lapidarydave, thanks…..never heard of them, looks like Quarsar Gems just about specializes in Shungite. Took me a while to find the,. I’ll look them up tomorrow to take a look. The only outlet I could find was Karelian Heritage. Anyway…thank you so much…..need to get to sleep.
@@lapidarydave yes I was so bummed. Wanted to go in January for my birthday and could never get ahold of them so I called the Chamber of Commerce and they said they were permanently closed
Your statements about Tanzanite are pretty wild (and wrong). Tanzanite is a variety of Zoisite but the vanadium and sometimes chromium in the crystal structure makes Tanzanite much different from standard zoisite varieties. Almost all Tanzanite is heat treated to get the blue color but you can't "fake" tanzanite by just heat treating a zoisite. The only known deposit of Tanzanite is in the Merelani Hills region of Tanzania. Tanzanite is pleochroic and hasn't been reproduced yet in a lab so it's one of the few gems that really can't be faked because all you need is a Hanneman Tanzanite filter to quickly weed out any non Tanzanite.

Love the sun and moon freestyle landscapes ☀️🌕🌄😊♥️
I’m happy you enjoyed it I don’t know what people want to see until I post it so I means a lot that you liked it

Dang that sounds awesome
Come to Michigan and hit the shoreline, well except Erie. I live just a walk away and it's pretty funky lol
We purchased several specimens from Karp at Mineral City this year. By far the most reasonable pricing at that group of shows

Thanks Dave. I try to google some of things you find. Nickle bloom etc. Google kept sending me too Nichol bloom.
LoL maybe try nickelblend

@@lapidarydave Yeah still nothing.
I'll rewatch vid boost your algorithm. I think you gave the vendors name.
do you know if they will have moldavite and LDG in Desert Garden Gem Show in Quartzsite?
I don’t know if it’ll be a Desert Gardens but it will definitely be at the Powwow show During the same time as a Desert Gardens in Quartzite
HEY DAVE, What is Moldavite used for?
& What is the most common process when processing it/producing a saleable item, not in its raw form?
Hmmm I don’t know if I completely understand your question :) it is cabbed but mostly sold as is as a specimen
Keep the great videos coming bud! Was wondering if u have ever put moldavite on the lapidary? Curious to see
It is cabbed quite often though I haven’t done so yet I will buy a piece and cab it someday soon
Great video Dave!
Thank you my brother
Going to have to try throwing some Spanish Moss in some Florida Agatised Coral and selling it as above water, under water sculptures.
Fantastic idea
@@lapidarydave I was kind of joking a little, those slabs and an air plant looked a little pricey and a little worried about chiggers.🤣
Love ❤️ the moons
Me too jack os awesome
For the Moldavite is there a etsy store name that I can buy some Moldavite? TY
this company was called KARP i don’t know if they have a etsy though
DAVE - YOU ROCK!

Did you see any Phenakite there?
Hmmmm I don’t think I would know to have noticed
I think those might be pieces of a Czech Republic tank that was blown to pieces.
