  • It's a progress of making figurine curly hairs video in 10 minutes. Although the actual time was way much longer, I edited it short and some fast forward. Hope you can see the methods from this film.
    Material: Super Sculpey (sculpting clay)
    nail polish remover/nylon brush
    wooden tools
    *The video shown a baked figurine (baked head), you can make the hair with unbaked face/head. I baked the head first so I don’t need to worry if I mistakenly ruin the face while making the hairs.
    *Always start from big portion of hairs to small group of hair, the very last thing is hair lines, don’t go directly to the detail lines if big portion of hairs are not good enough! It might look messy in the beginning, don’t panic!! Just fix it as the video step by step, you'll get there.
    *Brush a bit of nail polish remover with nylon brush to take off the scraps when almost finish, it also makes the
    surface smooth and a bit firm that would be easier for making the hair lines.

      You are welcome! We all do the same, each sculpture took long time to make, and put our effort into it. In this 3D printing world, hope there are still be appreciated in hand made sculptures for a while...

    Excellent! What would you recommend for VERY voluptous (I hope that is the correct word) and VERY curly hair? Like Yara Shahidi, that kind of hair. Or Merida from Brave. Is it better to put a chunk of material for the basic form and put the strands of hair over it or maybe using strands of hair to build the whole mane?

      @AngelbeingWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks lot! For very voluptous curly hair like her, I would make big portions of hair first, make sure the shape is good enough before you go to the detail, and then make small portions bumpy like sheep. You don't wanna carve hairlines so it would mostly like moving around pointed tool tip (not too sharp) allover each little portions. Some goes right some goes left. Would this help? Strands, I have never try that, perhaps for sculpting, just try it!

      @@AngelbeingWorkshop Awesome! Last time I tried to do that kind of hair I tried putting a lot of little curls and it didn't work (it broke easily and didn't actually look good). I didn't know how to go around this issue but this sounds like the solution to my problems. Thanks for your help, I'll try it!

      I would love to make it, but there are totally 24GB of video and days of time that I took for this process. It needs a long time editing it. I'll see if I can make it faster. And hope my computer runs... as a big file like this.

    I have a question. Since you already baked the head and torso, when you go in to bake the hair won't the head and torso get burnt or something ? Is is bad to re-bake some piece that was already baked ?

    • @AngelbeingWorkshop
      @AngelbeingWorkshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can actually bake Super Sculpey sculptures in and out of the oven more then 10 times. The key points are, each baking time needs to be less then 15 mins, low down the temperature (lower then the instruction on the box said), cover the baked clay with aluminium foil especially small and thin area, only expose unbaked area if you care about the color of baked clay. Hope you know what I mean. Every oven may vary, you need to adjust the temperature by yourself.
      The clay is soft, this is a way that I found useful to have some place to hold the figurine when I sculpt it closely. Make the piece in sections.

      @@AngelbeingWorkshop sorri if you saw my comment as a disgrace, I just want to hear your voice on tips for making the hair, you are very pro at it! So hearing tips from you or even comments in the video would really help out! And never give up what you're good at just because people say things on the internet, because we can see you have crazy skills 👍 keep it up.
