Hey Alex. I started shortly after I bought land, about 10 years ago. At first the goal was to maximize profit by harvesting the wood myself, but over time the goal has shifted to making sure it's managed the way I want it done for the future.

Nice! Hope it works well and doesn't cost you too much! Great long term investment if you plan to own and harvest that area in the future.
Hard to get things frozen up here in northern Vermont, if you're lucky maybe you get 30 days to get in there and pull wood, and spring thaw hits.
Yeah it can be frustrating especially on wet ground. We've had a ton of rain recently. Normally it's snow for us this time of year
Old equipment is way better then the new stuff coming out.
There is probably a really easy answer that I missed. But why are you not using your excavator for this project.?
I cut and limbed the trees with the excavator, but hauling it out requires the other equipment.

Always dreamed of owning land, and harvesting timber was a way toward paying for it! I'll try and do a video on that sometime.
