Splinter being Hamato Yoshi's pet rat was his backstory in the original Mirage comics. In that version, Saki/Shredder killed Yoshi to avenge his older brother Nagi, who Yoshi had killed for attacking his wife Tang Shen. And now Splinter is training the turtles to kill Shredder to avenge his master Yoshi. Overly-complicated? Absolutely, but the original TMNT comic was a parody of gritty grimdark comic books at the time, and the whole situation makes a pretty interesting commentary on cycles of revenge.
And me personally I just find this origin incredibly funny. Like, imagine you're Shredder, and fifteen years after you kill a guy his PET RAT suddenly comes out of the woodwork to square up with you. With four human-sized turtles that it apparently trained in ninjutsu. Because the rat mastered ninjutsu strictly by observation in less than THREE YEARS (b/c that's how long rats live) before it was even sapient! Also the rat talks now. Like, how do you even BEGIN to process that 😂😂😂

Yeah I guess that is pretty funny. And to be fair it makes more sense then the Michael Bay TMNT origin story. Like how would he have been able to read a martial arts book.

@BigBlackNerdReactions-t3s Lol right?? Those movies had plot holes you could drive a truck through.
Ultimately, I think starting Splinter off as either a rat or a human can be used effectively, it just depends on the kind of story you're telling. For example, Mutant Mayhem Splinter starting as a rat made the most sense because his negative experiences with humans AS a rat fed into his character, while for Rise Splinter starting human made the most sense because his family history and struggles coping with the loss of his human life fed into HIS character. That's what's so fun about a long-running franchise like TMNT: there're so many ways to rearrange the source material and successive iterations to make something new!

fun fact: the turtles are smaller then the humans but taller then a toddler in the mirage comics

Welcome to 2003 TMNT, where the question is never "Will Stockman suffer", it's "How much today?"

Lol. Honestly should I react to this show. I haven't seen it in full before. I plan on reacting to shows and movies eventually on this channel as well.

Though the Shredder may have been the most formidable of their main villains, the 2003 TMNTs had several more major villains to fight than just him. One of the most notable of these was their version of Bishop, who is potentially the most skilled fighter they’ve ever fought, like Shredder-levels of skill. You can find all his scenes here: th-cam.com/video/Pa4Q5QfwqpQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cHkhTa9lfFbIcA0X
Also, the second Shredder in this lineup is not a Super Shredder. It’s something far worse, and *_also_* from the 2003 TMNT. Because the 2003 version has not one, not two, but *_THREE_* dangerous versions of the Shredder as main villains in their own arcs: *The Utrom Shredder* (aka. Ch’rell, The One True Shredder), the *Cyber Shredder* (a digital engram that Ch’rell made of himself), and the one that CJ will be talking about in the next video… the *Tengu Shredder* (a literal demon bonded with the original human Oroku Saki that gave him tremendous magical powers).

Oh Yeah, I forgot about bishop, thanks for reminding. Man I really need to watch this version of the TMNT,. And I know there were many other villains but I guess i was just trying to refer to the more "Villians till the end of series" kinda guys more or less". Would you be interested in me watching this version of the tmnt as reaction one day? Hopefully one with a better mic lol.

@@BigBlackNerdReactions-t3s I think it would be cool, yeah. Though after watching CJ’s videos about the Utrom Shredder and the Tengu Shredder, you’ll have seen quite a few spoilers for the series, but you should still have fun with it.

Thanks. I'll keep note of it when I start reacting to series and movies. And if there's anything else by chance you'd like a reaction to by all means recommend away 😁.
