I dove it in 2006 during UPR marine science sponges research. I actually recognized some of the large sponges from your video. I also have pictures of our dives and some video too. Thanks for taking back to Monito. Wanna dive it again.
Thank you for this incredible video from our Monito Island here in Puerto Rico. This is by far the best video from Monito, I’ve ever seen!! 😱😍 Not too many SCUBA divers go to Monito or Mona Island since is a very long and dangerous trip from the main island of Puerto Rico. The description is perfect!! I had the amazing opportunity to go in a 5 day camping and diving trip four years ago. I will never forget it!
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words. Monito is an incredible place to dive, and a 5 day camping and diving trip sounds amazing. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I just came across your channel this morning, these are some of the best dive videos out there. Keep up the great work and I look forward to more of them.
Awesome 👍 🙏👍 BLESSINGssss Brother thank you soon much!!! 🏝️ Great and awesome video.. 3xploring the secrets of the celestials making .... I'll be great to see the underground waters tunel from PR.. to Spain...
It was an incredible dive. Sailing over on the Juliet is certainly the best way to dive Monito and Mona islands. We’re looking forward to your next dive video tomorrow. 👍
Wow! The diving around Mona Island is fantastic! It's a beautiful part of the Caribbean. We have a map of our dive locations at the link below. You can zoom in to see where we were around Mona. www.tritonsrealm.com/en/scuba-diving/videos
Wow! We had no idea there were that many places to explore. We’re headed back at the end of the year to dive the south shore. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank you so much! We appreciate your comment. We enjoyed your video on diving Desecheo Island, especially the nurse shark footage. When were you there?
Great questions! I did dive with Nitrox on every dive. I don't remember the blend exactly, but I think it was around 32%. Total dive time was about 45 minutes for each dive. I would start each dive with the group deep then work up the wall almost to the surface and then return back to the boat which was waiting out in the blue water a little ways off the island.
I read that you can camp here in the comments below. Is this true and have you heard of any other opportunities to dive here other than the Juliet liveaboard?
Our primary camera is a Panasonic GH5s with 2 Keldan 8X video lights and an Atomos Ninja V external monitor. The footage from the caves was with this camera, but we also dive with a couple GoPros for extra footage. Great question. Thanks for watching. 👍
We've been diving year round in Puerto Rico and had good experiences each time. We really like the east end, the south has good wall diving, and the north and west sides have unique sites of their own. Enjoy!
Mona Island and it’s smaller sister island, Monito, offer some incredible diving, but they are challenging to get to. Because they are located about 45 miles west of Puerto Rico, the local dive shops rarely go there. However, if the weather is good and everything lines up, dive shops like Taino Divers may head out there. The best way is on board the Juliet, a diving Liveaboard, but she only makes the trip a couple times per year. julietsailinganddiving.com/mona-island/ If you’re in the area you can dive Desecheo Island. It has some amazing swim throughs, and is a shorter trip from PR. Diving the wall on the south end of the island is also incredible and the reefs on the east end are nice as well. If you happen to be in San Juan for a couple days, you can also dive with Scuba Dogs at the Escambron Marine Park. Last time we were they we got to dive with a manatee, but that was just pure luck. Puerto Rico is a fun island, enjoy your trip. Hopefully this helps. 😀
Amazing video I too have adventures on my channel for Puerto Rico and your channel IS AMAZING
Wow! Thank you for the compliment! We have many memories of trips around beautiful Puerto Rico and plan to have more diving adventures.

We love it too! Scuba diving opens up a whole new world underwater. Thanks for watching.
Topography looks amazing Jeff!
The boulders and wall were spectacular!
Puerto Rico has 192 islands, cays an attols, many natural wonders to explore.
Wow! We had no idea there were that many places to explore. We’re headed back at the end of the year to dive the south shore. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Stunning dive!
Thank you. It was an incredible spot to dive.
amazing!
Thank you! Monito island was certainly an amazing dive destination.
I love this channel!
Thank you so much! We appreciate your comment. We enjoyed your video on diving Desecheo Island, especially the nurse shark footage. When were you there?
Thanks for watching! Maybe we can meet somewhere cool and colab!
A colab would be great! Reach out to us at divein@tritonsrealm.com and we can plan something.
I have two questions for you:
Since you dived very deep, how long did you dive Monito in each dive? Did you used Nitrox for the dives??
Great questions! I did dive with Nitrox on every dive. I don't remember the blend exactly, but I think it was around 32%. Total dive time was about 45 minutes for each dive. Any macro critters?
Yes, a good variety of macro critters! Used my wide angle lens to focus on the topography.
What’s your main underwater camer used in the caves
Our primary camera is a Panasonic GH5s with 2 Keldan 8X video lights and an Atomos Ninja V external monitor. The footage from the caves was with this camera, but we also dive with a couple GoPros for extra footage. Great question. Thanks for watching. 👍
PR 🇵🇷
Is July good for freediving/scuba/snorkeling in Puerto Rico? :)
