The stairs falling in is no joke! I had an entire fight of stairs fall out from under me in an abandoned tenement on Eldridge st in Manhattan back around 1976 going back down the stairs from the roof, I was literally hanging by my fingers that grabbed the threshold as I fell! I had walked up those stairs no problem, going back down I stepped down on the top step and all of a sudden the whole flight of steps simply fell out from under me.
@@YoungHeartedSoul Oh shit that was scary yeah! I went to the roof to remove a sculpture from the facade by cutting a hole thru the parapet to access the back of it, it was 135# and I dragged it over to the stairs and intended to slide it down the steps, I turned around and took a step down onto the top step below the threshold of the roof door and started to slide the sculpture over to the threshold and my weight alone was all it took to cause the stairway to collapse. It was so crazy because I had walked up those very stairs a few hours earlier with no problem, creaking or anything. @@YoungHeartedSoul That wasnt the only time I had a close call but it was the closest! There was a dark hallway I was inching my way down and as I felt the floor ahead with my foot it suddenly contacted nothing- the floor was gone, it would have been very easy to fall thru that hole in the dark and wind up in the dark basement with no way out and no way to see anything. I thought nothing of climbing up scaffold on the outside of demolitions, one was a 32 story building on Wall St, being demolished in 1975, the other was the Commodore hotel on 42nd st, in both cases I figured a security guard was inside watching tools, I only wanted the artifacts off the outside of the building and didn't care about the tools, so to avoid him I climbed up the scaffold to around 3 AM, 32 floors to the top! You guys are pretty brave. My heart stopped when you almost couldn't find a way out. Loved the video. It was put together well. That's what I call truly abandoned.
Amazing Video, TY For The Walk. I Hadn't Heard Of This Location Until Now! Today, if any Bronx adventurer wants to visit North or South Brother Island, they'll probably have to find a Parks Department-approved scientist with spare room in their kayak. ... While North Brother Island has been uninhabited since 1963, only a scarce few have seen South Brother Island's light of day since 1909.
Man, that place is in sad shape. They must've had one massive boiler room though, burning tons and tons of coal, to keep all those radiators going in that huge place during the NY winters. Wow! Fascinating video. Well done!
Amazing footage. Thanks. Glad you guys didn't get hurt! One thing, though: the drug rehab centre opened in the 50s and closed in 1963. The 80s and 90s only figure in the story in the 1880s and 1890s. 1963 was the end of the island's official life. Such a waste. The island has fantastic potential.
YIKES when u turn that corner @ 20:13 I thought I was looking at a creepy enlarged pic. GREAT VID. Great work! This isn't my 1st time watching, thats how much I enjoyed it.
What a creepy place that is! I became interested in the island after I saw it on a boat trip when I was in 5th grade. It's amazing how protected the island has been from vandalism, nature has literally taken over. It's interesting to see what happens when a building is left to the elements for 60 years with no maintenance.
What a waste of property and land, when there is so little space in new York and the sounding areas. Then you see these big brick and stone buildings just rotting... Just wrong!!!
Yes but nature has some place to go besides ferries would have to stop daily to take people to mainland and whatever to shop and go to work more isolation many people may not want
That was a fantastic video guys. Urban exploration videos are pretty much the same these days. You’ve won me as a subscriber. Thanks guys. I’ll start to watch the rest of your work now.
I believe the cage in the room was so the patients wouldn't burn themselves on the radiators either purposely or accidently.. Radiators got extremely hot and you could get disfigured even die from the burns.
That very well could be but I do not see the need for the chicken wire looking fencing (cage) to go from floor to ceiling? Not to mention a slot built into door? That's some serious restrainments. Very sad but the things pple had to deal with, I'd imagine your brain could play tricks, even to a healthy &/or sane person.
I did demolish ion in NYC on bigger buildings , when ya's tried going down , I would've slid down the bannister, they usually support the steps and where there's water damage like that walk as far right or left of a step , never in the middle , Great Video and Good Luck 👍😎

Welcome back Matt! It’s been too long. Great work! Love the narration.

Excellent! dangerous...was on the edge of my seat!!!
Screw that shady platform bro,you guys were lucky to get out of there safely.Awesome footage!Stay safe bro 👍👍
Very nice clear pics. Great explore!
First time on your channel and I must say I'm impressed with the Cinematography. Crematorium was Erie!. Keep up the great work,.. Mitch in Nevada
Thank you for this! Glad you were safe.
Legend says that Colonel Sanders is still looking for Matt...

@@erwinrommel7008 So am I. I did too much acid back in the 70's -80's, lmao
I'm obsessed with this channel definitely underrated.
I got anxiety watching this on top of my quarantine anxiety!
Like O.M.G
21:21 that's what you get wandering around in abandoned buildings, lucky to have a mate to pull you out. I hope you bought him a drink.
Holy 💩
There is spiritual unrest there because of the suffering.
Sounds right
Most genuine and truthful observation on here.
no doubt. Haunted for sure
I herd people seeing thing in Hart island
Bro ! Nice job on the editing, B ROLL and Cinematics. This is a dope ass video, just like the rest , but better. 🙌🏻💪🏻
What a waste of property and land, when there is so little space in new York and the sounding areas. Then you see these big brick and stone buildings just rotting... Just wrong!!!
Too expensive to clean up..Asbestos.
Even if they did, they would just turn it into studio apartments that people would pay $300,000,000.00 to live on a private NYC island.
i say keep it this way. humans don’t have to inhabit every square inch of this world.
Yes but nature has some place to go besides ferries would have to stop daily to take people to mainland and whatever to shop and go to work more isolation many people may not want
Be careful, guys! Great video!😊
Look At that great brick work. Anything new would be crumbled
That was a fantastic video guys. Urban exploration videos are pretty much the same these days. I’m too old to do it myself and live half a world away from you , so I thought I’d give you a go even though the video was lengthy. I was enthralled. Don’t know where the time went. You’ve won me as a subscriber. Thanks guys. I’ll start to watch the rest of your work now.
Time tell's a dark history..🕚💀
The Legend himself has returned! 🙌
Glad to see you’re uploading again! This was crazy! I often wonder what it smells like in these places.
I did demolish ion in NYC on bigger buildings , when ya's tried going down , I would've slid down the bannister, they usually support the steps and where there's water damage like that walk as far right or left of a step , never in the middle , Great Video and Good Luck 👍😎
I love that you didn't talk through the WHOLE video, you just let us see it. Very well done, thank you.
God the whole end where they're looking for an exit gave me anxiety
Whew...me too. Can you imagine being trapped there as it got dark. Ugghh.
Your at home shut up
Glad your back hope you will be doing some more Disney videos
All I'm thinking is "how many ticks do these people get a year?"
Probably none it's near the city it's not an actual Forrest I doubt there is any wild life there other than tiny criters
Universal Powder no there’s entire ecosystems there, especially birds
Universal Powder cities have ticks too, it’s carried by birds mostly and other wildlife
Nice Video, great content. I’m glad you’re friend was there to pull you out of that hole. Great adventure, kinda dangerous though.
The fact that the city hasn't sold it to some private developer makes me think someone in the government is maybe hiding something.
Yup. I'm sure a developer, just a very wealthy individual would love to buy this island.
Amazing Video Guys! Thx for sharing
The island was abandoned in 1963. Excellent video.
Great video this, I came to see rikers island documentary, and this was way more I was looking for. Thank you for this. Just subbed
When you see planks going up old stairs. USE THE PLANKS! They spread the weight between all the steps.
Omy Lord ... That scared me and gave me the Willies when y'all got stuck for a while about 6 stories up. That was fricken scary! Lol. So glad y'all made it down. You took your chances on that catwalk. Y'all are brave.
Very well made video, I can see this getting big views as time passes by. Very interesting history behind this curious island.
Climbing rope & equipment boys when doing stuff like those stairs & walk way.... But I haven't had that much suspense in a min!!! Beautiful camera works there!!!!
I really love your videos, nice work 🥺💕
I really enjoyed this documentary. Great footage!
I love how there is absolutely NO graffiti or vandalism or litter in this place!!☺️
Because the average joes cant just walk out to the island. They would actually have to work and put forth effort to get on the island.

Great work fellas. Glad to see young people take interest in history.
But remember… when you see ceilings and walls caving, leaning, etc., realize that the floor you’re walking on isn’t much different!!!!
That was an awesome explore! Careful on those floors. I've had to pick myself out of a couple before. It's good that there were two of you. It can get pretty hairy when that happens and you're alone!
Great job Matt. S!! love love history!!!
