    I really like the idea of adding hooks after building the fly. I'm just getting ready to build brushes and plan on giving this a go for my big smallies.

    Insane man, love this tie. I love the idea of the split ring too! I’m just getting into tying musky flies and I appreciate you sharing all of your knowledge! It is truely appreciated!

    That is a beautiful fly and very nicely tied.
    I have no idea how you would ever fish that fly. When the materials in your fly become waterlogged it would weigh a great deal and be simply impossible to cast for any length of time.
    The bulky head and weight forward in the head is a sensible part of a fly. I suggest more consideration being given to materials that will not absorb water or that will drop water during the casting process.
    Weight is it considerable consideration. I find one articulation link to be sufficient in order to keep the weight down.
    I personally fish an 11 weight inorder to be able to cast for long periods of time.
    Smaller, more castable flies make my musky fishing more productive.
    Thank you for your video.

    This is a fabulous fly. I heard you make a weighted version. If this is true, how much lead and where do you put it?
    Thank you for posting these and advancing this sport.

    Luke, what size 374 do you like on this size fly and do you have a recommendation on the front hook? I heard the SVS podcast where you mentioned weighting this fly. Perhaps you could have a short video on that variation?
    thanks for the videos!

      For the 374 hook I like 3/0 and 4/0 depending on the size of the fly.
      The weighted fly video will come out here soon

    What size of hooks do you use for your PS flies?

  • @timvose3944

    Hey Luke, can you attach your treble hook to the split ring that connects the front shank to the middle? Also what size splits do you use.

    • @livinthedreamguideservice9756
      @livinthedreamguideservice9756  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can, but I've found if you make the loop on the front shank it helps keel the fly and helps the swimming actions

    • @livinthedreamguideservice9756
      @livinthedreamguideservice9756  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Split ring size depends on what hook you want to use but a #5 is a good start

      Better using barbless single hooks rather than treble hooks . Large single barbless hooks get a better hold and are easier to remove quickly once landed .

    You add the hook? Where on the open eye I assume? Video of this ?

    What hook do you use in the middle section?

  • @ssm59
    @ssm59 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So the back hook is the cut Eagle Claw treble, what hook do you drop off the front loop? The same? What size hook?

    I’ve been doing it wrong I guess, lol, I’ve only been getting the hair to go around roughly 360° not the 365° mentioned in the video. I don’t math so maybe I’m missin something?
