I think you might need to specify your paper type, or the material you are using. I am using construction paper and it rips and does not retain its folds. Thanks

You should not use construction paper for origami, as this will be an issue across the board for your creations. You should either try colored A4 standard printer paper of normal weight, or you should try origami paper. Construction paper will always have issues when it comes to origami.
