- Come along with Sterling as he goes on a @HollandAmericaLine cruise through the Western Caribbean on the MS Nieuw Statendam. Joined by his wife and staying in a Verandah Spa Stateroom, Sterling experiences nearly all the amenities aboard this Pinnacle-class cruise ship as well as ports of call including Holland America's private island Half Moon Cay, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and the Bahamas.

Can men wear nice shorts and a polo to dinner at the MDR or the specialty restaurants? I saw some guys wearing them in your video but the dress code says no. Maybe they don't enforce it? I never bring pants to the Caribbean lol
Good question, and I think maybe this might be on a case by case basis. More likely to get away with it in the MDR than specialties. We enjoyed dressing up as part of the fun so it never came up!

Nice video about the Statendam. Do you work for HAL, or benefit from, a positive video about the ship and the ports of call.
I say this because I have cruised often, and nothing is perfect. You lost me when you said Jamaica was a great place. You didn't mention Jamaica crime, or that everyone has their hands out for a tip, or that bus passengers are often Shanghaied to side "bars and trinket shops" so that they are tempted to buy garage sale items. We have been to Jamaica about a dozen times in the last ten years. We now hire private drivers to get us to where WE want to go. Jamaica is nice and beautiful, but be aware of your surroundings, and bring lots of tip money. On our last cruise that included Jamaica, we didn't even get off the ship. We normally stay at resorts in Jamaica. Would much more appreciate your video's if you also incuded those things that DIDN't work for you.
That said, I did enjoy the video about the ship that we will be sailing on soon.
Appreciate the comment! Do not work for HAL, and the channel focuses on all sorts of outdoor adventures. Not this cruise video specifically, but much of the content was a Discovery+ series before we came to TH-cam. In Jamaica, our experience was limited to a HAL excursion, only a short bus ride away, so we didn't see any crime or panhandling, but I have no doubts it exists. You offer some sound advice, thank you for sharing!
