I honestly think the repaint looks far better than the figure was starting out. Same with the body swap. With the mods the figure is a home run. Nicely done
That sticky residue on the older body, is due to plasticizer separation. Normally it happens with very very old plastic figures (certain types of plastics and pvc). But some modern figures use very cheap grade plastics and start to separate much faster. If this happens to an unpainted plastic surface, you can safely wipe off the sticky residue with 90% rubbing alcohol. But the sticky residue may re-emerge again a year later. Fantastic upgrade with the body and tunic paint job.
Looks great with the upgrade. Definitely a hard one to find (already looked) so will hope someone does a movie version. Mk9 design is pretty close to classic but my favourite is the MKX design which the movie heavily borrowed from.
Bi-Han/Original Sub-Zero had a different outfit in Mortal Kombat (2011). He had that ninja suit that was simpler than Kuai Liang's but sleeker and more streamlined. He also has a different face when you look closely.

Justin, you are getting really good on this mods/customization things! I remember when you made your own Batman drape cape. This repaint you did on sub-zero’s cloths was AWESOME. Even looking the little details, like the edges of the blue transition to the black were amazingly done. Congrats! 😃

You better do Scorpion. This Sub-Zero looks so damn good! I wish he came with more ice effects, and I definitely think the lack of a display base was a missed opportunity, for sure. Especially if they did something with Scorpion and Sub Zero together. But for what it is, the figure itself is really awesome looking. Shame about not getting the ice sword, and again it kind of boggles my mind why he didn't even come with any ice blasts. I suppose there are plenty of those type of effects out there, though, easy enough to make something work.

Sweet to see u getting more mortal kombat figs. One of My sons favorite Guys is sub zero. To bad subs is my second favorite. Sure we all can guess my favorite is scorpion…get over here….lol. But honestly we all know who really is everyone’s favorite. Guy who has been around since 1992 but obviously been hiding in the back ground pulling scorpions strings. Everyone loves Cole. Omg he is so awesome. Such a amazing fighter in the games just can’t describe to you the fatalities and how he fought in the first MK 1 to MK11. He is that good u just can’t explain it. how would you compare worldbox to a phicen body's lifespan? Also what kind of material should you avoid when buying 1/6 figures, like with the plaid leather that requires maintenance, so basically a figure that's low maintenance and I can leave on the shelf for years?
I figured as much but thanks for the reply, on the other hand if I leave it in the box should I worry about it having a shelf life especially with some kind of sun exposure or preferable tempature?
Just to add, Bi Han's mask is not the right one, in MK9 you can see Sub Zero has a different mask when is Bi Han, and it changes when Kuai Liang takes the mantle.

I would like to replace the body for something with double jointed elbows but not feeling the seamless body. Do you have any recommendations? I would like to match the skin as well. Thank you again 🙏

I'd love to see the Kung Lao review as he's my favorite MK character and I've had my eye on him for a while but I don't want to waste the money if he isn't worth it
Body looks better on Scorpion. Really recommend airbrushing Subs paler and with some skin texture. He looks off being as warm blooded as scorpion's corporeal form.
Also awesome to know a used version of the figure would be the way to go anyway since additional work needs to be done. those are joints were hard to look at.

Upgrade I dont know. For longetivity and robust. Its using the plastic body. For realism. Its Phican. But most times Id rather use plastic body and still looks extremely good without worrying about rips and tears while changing position after years on the shelf. Many people sold out the Plastic body of Mike Tysons storm toys. I also always buy the plastic body of Bruce Lee 1/6 and also didnt like how the bodies didnt hold out on Hot toys Leonidas as well so I opted to get a different brand.
I just finished playing the game but you make a little mistake both head sculpts are kuai liang but the one with the scar is after he was saved from cyberization which that head sculpt is more worn

The head sculpt isn't Bi-Han. That's just Kuai Liang without the scar and white eyes. And it wouldn't make sense for it to be Bi-Han because he has a different costume and mask than Kuai Liang. Cool review though

So, I’m brand new to this stuff, but I’ve been a musician/collector of music gear for 30+ years and anytime you modify anything on a vintage instrument, it immediately drops in value. Is this the case with these toys? If you were to resell, would you feel the need to disclose?
I'm curious to know, now that a few months have gone by, how is the fix for the pleather holding up? I have a few pieces that may be in need of something similar one day and wanted to see if you had any issues or if you are still happy with how it turned out?

Actually bi han has a different mask. Kuai Liang just sometimes has a scar and sometimes doesn't so it's a choice of which version you prefer

The body it came with is literally degrading and turning sticky so I had to do it

Actaully there both Kui Lang the reason why there is 2 is because Kui Lang didn’t have a scar in Mk9
