I love the shirts, the house, the videos but most of all, I love your smile, the eyes the hair and very nice way you detail your videos. I loved the video where you walked on the lake chapala. It made me cry because thats what I used to do. Thank you very much sr. JC.
I'm 31 and my fiancee is 26. But we're seriously considering a move to Mexico from Chicago in the near future. Videos like these definitely help show us how things are over there.
+Gustavo Dominguez ... Well not all of Mexico is like Ajijic, but there are many wonderful and safe places. You will need to know how to make a living. It’s easier for we old retirees with a passive income. :)
Your eyes lit up instantly when you mentioned Lynn and her new hair cut. Tell Lynn to watch it will put a smile on her face. Thanks for the videos. God bless you and Lynn
JC five more years I'm looking forward to retirement, I would love to shake your hand, and thank you for not just loving my country but my people also I was born in Queretaro,Mexico
I always think of great ideas in the middle of the night, so I keep a writing tablet on my nightstand. Some of the questions are so funny. I used to be a flight attendant so I've traveled, but some people don't seem to realize that people live their same lives anywhere. It's just the logistics that change. I used to love certain trips for different reasons. Some girls loved to get their hair cut in Mexico, for example.
Hi JC I enjoy your videos very much and every time I see one, I learn something new. I would also like to see old photos for when you move to Mexico. Thanks
Hello sir thank you for sharing your travels experiences coincidently I Live in Tucson Arizona and I am from Guadalajara originally therefore I enjoy your videos.
Haha...a short while ago I watched one of your videos where you were telling us that your son was criticizing how you make such low key videos. He felt qualified to do that because he had 12,000 subscribers. Well I see you have 11,000 already. Congratulations! Just keep doing what you’re doing - there’s only one you. Lots of people are doing razzmatazz videos with fancy camera work and loud music. No thank you. It’s so nice to relax with your videos and hear good advice from someone who has actually lived there for a long time and knows a thing or two. The “bridge bob” looks fantastic. Enjoy your trip.
Love your videos. Very good and accurate information, thank you :) A lot of people in the US have a very scary and wrong concept about Mexico, due to all the news. I was born in Mexico and come to live in the USA at the age of 20,got married, became an American citizen,I have two sons and after living in the states for 27 years,I returned to my home town, very happy here in Mexico. I was laughing leasing to you describing, how we live here, it's true!!! about the social life, enjoying great food at nice restaurant. Take care Mr. JC :)
USAs*holes believe that border crossers just want to live & die in US bc MX is such a miserable country. Every MX citizen I’ve met looks forward to, one day, resettling in their most beautiful, culturally rich nation. When I state that, they just stammer & stare at me knowing their chants of “We’re #1” fall on deaf ears.
😭I am going to miss you guys , but I wish you a fun and safe trip back to the states. I will like to comment for the viewers who wonder How mexico lives day by day (lets just call it that) HOME DEPOT has been in mexico since 2001 and Lowes Has been in Mexico since 2010. Now allow me to point out the facilities you have around all have to do with the state , and city you choose to live in. Expect to pay more for food, hotel, taxi, etc in areas such as these. so the more humble the more economical. it all depends on you and what life style you choose to live. Thats the beauty of mexico VIVA MEXICO , Happy belated Independance Day JC my blessings
I always enjoy your playful personality and laughed out loud at your star wars' quote "these aren't the droids you're looking for". As for the many persons making comments, I look forward to your travel videos and continuing comments on Mexico.
JC Just found your channel and really like it, your very interesting to watch and learn from. I see at the end of this video that you stopped in Wickenburg where we live. We are thinking of moving to Mexico if the administration in this country doesn't get better next year. I will continue to learn about Mexico as time goes on. Thanks Ralph & Lee
We’re N of Tucson. So inspiring to know there are simpatico folks in Wickenburg also living under the fear & dread of this oppressive, plutocratic regime intent on the rape, pillage of our beautiful state. Our country. If Drumpf has his way, we will bomb MX. Who are we? Bigly sad.
You and your wife have a great time traveling, and be safe. You both have a wonderful sense of living a very pleasurable life, whatever that means LOL.
I really enjoy watching your videos. It's my plan to one day retire in Mexico. I've heard that the Oregon Coast is very beautiful, hopefully we can get to see some of that in your future videos while you're here in The States. Thank you for the great content!! Keep up the good work :)
I love your haircut, Lyn. I'm transitioning to silver in preparation for retirement and gypsying. Love it. People, please give your cleaning, laundry and car wash 'opportunities' to the locals. No need to worry. They work hard to support their families.
Your videos are so good. Just my speed. I like slow and clear and deliberate. Thanks so much. You have earned the growth. Thanks so much. QN Do you still play piano/ keyboard? I play old country guitar with vocals.
I play only for my own enjoyment. Its always been a sort of meditation for me to sit down at the piano and pound out the day's frustrations. My keyboard at home in Mexico is a Yamaha Grand.
You hit a cord with me when you mentioned retired life and needing a daily planner.i couldnt wait to retire so I would have all this "free time" to do all the things I put off because I was working all the time! Well ,that didnt work as planned lol!!...I've been retired now for a little over three years and I still dont have all this supposed "free time" as between my family and friends I'm still constantly busy lol!! I do realize I'm extremely fortunate but sometimes I really would just like to "do nothing!" My family's chief complaint before I retired was I was always working and I guess I was. I would work all day and i usually would be locked away in my home office late into the evening taking care of paper work and dealing with my scheduling! Now that I'm " retired" I'm busy all day doing stuff around the house and running errands all day! My evenings are now usually free and I'm able to spend more time with family but I was really surprised at how busy one can get just taking care of my home and doing stuff! So basically I worked my butt off all my life so I could retire ,just so I could continue to be busy!...lol!! Sigh....
Sad we wait to retired to do wherever we want .... we got bussy all the time we do for our love ones what they don't do for us ..... you will died doing things for others and you will regret not doing what you want yo do for you!! Ask someone to do something big for you and you will see what happen..... be happy wherever you are!!🤗
@@JF-fx2qv I totally understand and "get" that!...please dont think for a second that my retirement was "handed" to me as I worked my butt off for it !!!...I also dont have a college degree ,only a high school diploma but both my kids do as well as my wife!....I dont have a pension as I was self employed . I'm just was and still am to a degree a hard working guy who admittedly has had some luck as well! I do feel for the ones who have to work until they die and I wish social security did more for retired people but I realized along time ago nobody was going to take care of me in my older years and it was going to be up to me...
Retired never meant doing nothing to me. If you were a productive guy, you'll remain so in retirement. There's an old business saying ... if you want to get something done ... give the job to the guy who is the busiest, not the guy who has time to do it.
Hey JC, My wife and I find your videos thoroughly entertaining. We enjoy your approach to story telling and always learn something along with the entertainment. Hope to cross paths sometime and swap stories. Looking forward to your comments during your RV trip. Why not consider bumping Verizon up to unlimited while in the U.S. and then back down when you are living full time in Mexico? Might be worth asking about.
Oh, JC! These are not the droids you're looking for! Oh, dear. I feel as if I could fit right in. The people are generally delightful. Bless you! Keep up the good work!
Hi JC. Will be looking forward to sayin HI when you arrive in Yuma. I would like to see what you know about Tucson too. Also Algondones dentist recommendations from your friends. Thank you for your interesting videos and hoping Lynn is feeling fine. Michael in Yuma,AZ.
Living in beautiful Ajijic AND RV'ing the beautiful 48 lower States of the Grand USA, now that's living it up Sir! Hmm.....have you ever rv'ed in the beautiful Beehive State? I hear there are some very scenic traiker parks for rv'ers just north of the beautiful li'l mountain town of Moab between the sloughs of the colorado river and what would be the residential and orchard part of the little city. If not I truly recommend you go there, you won't be sorry at all! :)
I would love to live your life! You wouldn't have a single friend that lives similarly! Solo is great but it would be nice to have company! You have encouraged me to start seriously using and learning more Spanish and come down to check it out!
Lynn's new hair bob suits her well! Great look, she looks younger! That sporty BMW is to blame for your speeding, it's really not your fault! ;) Donas has great breakfasts too as well as donuts! Safe journey back inside the USA. I miss Mexico!
I am a contractor, and have worked for a lot of us own companies, the US citizens how come to the plants, and supervise my work.. Just love's it. 90% of them don't want to go back... Monterrey is a very big city and is very americanize. Good food good people. Just nice. And I know how you feel and what you're doing.. Is what I am going to do in a couple of years..... Have very nice time in trip.. Never change please.
In Ajijic at the moment. Had lots of trouble getting out of Japan due to flight cancelations due to a badly damaged airport--typhoon "Jebi." So couldn't get anything done in the States before arriving, but did find out that "we" way overcharge for internet these days. How dare we. (Not really a question.) It used to be $40/mo for unlimited on-the-go Wifi. Now it costs less in Japan than the US to have a mobile hotspot. I shake my head. Great questions here. BTW, you're probably doing the right thing leaving during high season. :) Great planning. PS: Your son was perhaps not entirely right again about walking around. This could be standup.
We partly planned being gone in high season, but also because we love the Arizona desert in the motorhome in the winter, and would not want to miss the summer months in Ajijic.
Channel is really growing. You speak nothing but the truth about policeman, in all city’s of USA. I wouldn’t call that talking bad about homeland. We’re going to miss seeing the beautiful home you’ve built in Mexico for a few months but look forward to following you guys in the RV. Thanks for keeping it real. 👍
Thanks for your informative videos. I'm maybe 15 yrs from retirement but starting to think about it. I have daily life questions too. Do you have to filter all your water still or are you used to it now? I don't care about meat because im vegetarian, how is the price of fruit, vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds, rice, bread etc? How do you prepare fruit and vegetables? Can you eat them raw or will you get sick? Did you bring your car with you? How do you register it? I'm from California and ride a motorcycle because the weather is nice most of the time and it uses little gas. Do people use motorcycles where you live?
Hi Susan. We drink bottled water. Fresh veggies, nuts, etc are widly available and affordable. We wash out veggies with mild bleach and rinse with bottled water. You can then eat them raw. As a tourist or temporary resident you car enjoys the same immigration status as its owner. There are many motorcycles in Mexico.
Thanks for sharing this information with us. I enjoy you videos and look forward to each new one that comes out...! I do have a personal question for you and if you’d rather not say I understand. Your home and grounds are so beautiful, would you mind sharing how much it has cost you to build and maintain such an amazing place...? Have a great day and be blessed.
We purchased two properties and built the tall part of the house between them to join two smaller houses. We bought in 2004 when prices were lower. What it cost us is not longer available. The property would be valued today at about $700k USD with a 1/2 acre of lake front property. Google this magazine ... pictures and prices ... Points South Chapala Edition.
JC Travel Stories I kind of thought something like that... I knew the cost had to be up there, your place is so big plus taking into account the lake front property... Thanks For sharing this with us. Have a great day and be blessed. Safe travels to both of you.
I said I've played the piano since I was young ... I didn't say I played it well. I play only for my own enjoyment. Its relaxing ... meditative ... personal. Don't have a favorite .... other than me. :)
Hi JC and Lynn. Love your new hair style. It’s Tammie from Ca. I’m looking forward to your RV videos. I had an RV last year and was at the RTR. I camp in my Prius now with tent. I thought I might go to Ajiit someday. Do you ever see a Prius down there? Do they have Toyota repair shops that could work on a Prius if needed? I love hearing what’s on your mind today. Would love to see your kitchen and for fun see a video of you guys making lunch. What do you guys like to eat? Do you often go out even just for lunch? Thx!
I met a lady camping in a Prius last January in Ehrenburg ... she's in one of my videos back around the time of the RTR. My joke was that if you have a Prius and .... oh ... wait ... sorry ... it was Lexus. Never mind. If you have lexus and a porta potty, you're not homeless. Yes. I've seen a Prius in Ajijic, and there are Toyota dealers in Guadalajara ... a city of 5 million.
Hello Jerry, do you know what those white, warehouse like structures are on the other side of the lake? Maybe a small town? Have a great trip back in the U.S. !
Monte Le Gre~ There are other towns albeit much smaller than Ajijic and especially Chapala on the other side (south) side of the lake. Those structures your referring to house raspberries and other berries too. Mexico is a large producer of berries that are sold to us gringos in the north.
We're heading down that way in Dec for a week, never been out of the country. Can you give me a tip on the air b&b situation down there .tks for your videos
Sorry Rick, I don't make recommendations for lodging. Too many friends who get out of sorts if I don't recommend them. There's lots of info on airbnb and vrbo.
Really enjoy your videos both humorous and informative!! How long can we remain in Mexico using our Canadian drivers licence and vehicle registration? Thanks
Your driver's license is OK as long as its current. Vehicles enjoy the same immigration status (tourist or temporal) as their registered owner. Once you become immigrata permanente you can't have a non-Mexican titled car in Mexico. Mexicans can not and don't check for current registration tags on your foreign plates and you will see many US and Canadian expired plates here .....HOWEVER ... driving with expired plates may be an excuse for your insurance company to deny a claim.
Thanks for your reply Jerry! We watch all your new videos and are learning more about Ajijic every time! Excited about our exploratory visit this coming winter!!
I enjoy your videos and see Mexico as an option for when my parents pass and I retire again. my question is this do the houses in Ajijic typically have garages? carports? driveways? thanks Steve f
In Portland I lived 45 air miles from Mt Saint Helens on May 18th, 1980. We pushed ash off the driveway with snow shovels from earlier eruptions. We survived. Mt Colima, the volcan of fire, vents regularily ... easing the pressure we think ... and its about 60 miles away from Ajijic. We don't think about it. Nobody worries about it.
I just recently saw a news story about the Ajijic area. It mentioned that the crime was increasing, most notably robberies/burglaries and kidnappings. Also it said that the locals weren't all that happy with the expats there, since they can no longer afford to live there anymore. They mentioned in the story that 98% of crime in Mexico goes unsolved. Another point was crime was increasing because it was like shooting fish in a barrel with all the "rich" senior citizen expats. I don't mean to be negative, but just wanted you to share some real world knowledge about your experience. Ever been burglarized there...etc? Friends that have?
The locals here appreciate the greater opportunities that expats create. Jobs, jobs, and more, jobs at a higher wage than many other places in Mexico. The rise in prices on the north shore of lake Chapala is due to it being the week end destination for Guadalajara, a city of 5 million with a growing middle class. Rich expats??? Foolish US media BS. Not all Mexicans are poor. Many are very wealthy compared to expats. Here's my crune report after 18 years here .... 5 million Guadalajarans and thousands of expats were not the victims of crime this week. There has been a great effort on the part of local authorities and other groups to encourage more reporting of crime ... reporting is up. Don't confuse that with crime is up. There is crime. It comes and goes. Its not a daily concern. Of course, if you're a journalist, you interview a few victims, not thousands of non victims. Violent crime here is not random. People get shot for a reason. Those of us who don't give the bad guys a reason are safe. Every once in awhile there will be a rash of burglaries, or a home invasion gang. It happens. I do not want to minimize how bad that is when it happens, but one incident will appear in the US media and on the internet as evidence of crime over and over and over giving the impression that it happens much more than it does.
So, we are currently living in Beaverton, Oregon and are traveling to Ajijic in January. We are hoping we can "run into you" here or there, but it sounds like you may still be on the road in January. Be sure to let us know when you're in Oregon, I can make you a pie!
❤️👍, Grito to Lynn and JC, hope you had a Happy Independence Day, the Independence Day videos I've seen are spectacular!. To those with so many questions, It's not about moving to another country its adjusting to life somewhere else or a different lifestyle. The kids will soon have to adjust to life in a RV, I feel horrible for them (not my style), But I think they will have the time of their life...lol. To be a good adventurer/traveler/retiree know your lifestyle first and adjust accordingly. As for me, home and life is where I'm at right now, sometimes just waking up is an adventure, and that's all that matters to me. P.S. I got a feeling I could adjust my lifestyle to their RV very quickly, see that wasn't hard. ❤️👍, Grito a Lynn y JC, ¡espero que tengas un Feliz Día de la Independencia, los videos del Día de la Independencia que he visto son espectaculares! Para quienes tienen tantas preguntas, no se trata de mudarse a otro país, sino de adaptarse a la vida en otro lugar o a un estilo de vida diferente. Los niños pronto tendrán que adaptarse a la vida en un RV, me siento horrible por ellos (no es mi estilo), pero creo que tendrán el mejor momento de su vida ... jaja. Para ser un buen aventurero / viajero / jubilado conozca primero su estilo de vida y ajuste en consecuencia. En cuanto a mí, el hogar y la vida es donde estoy ahora mismo, a veces simplemente despertar es una aventura, y eso es todo lo que me importa. P.D. Tengo la sensación de que podría ajustar mi estilo de vida a su RV muy rápidamente, veo que no fue difícil. Buen Provecho 8 ^}
Going from a 3700 sq ft house on a half acre of gardens to 320 sq ft in a motor home has advantages .... like the bathroom is only 3 steps away from the bed in the midddle of the night. And, of course, living in a 40' diesel pusher with ceramic tile floors, solid oak cupboards, double pane windows, a convection oven, and hydronic heating isn't exactly like camping. We'll be ok. Don't feel sorry for us "kids". LOL!
Thanks for another good video. I enjoy woodturning so if I came down there I would like to bring my lathe and a few power tools. Is the electric service 60 hz?
Joseph Edgington anything beyond basic electrical needs gets very expensive, to keep charges down some resort to having duplicate meters, gas is used for cooking
Its a tiered system ... about 1/2 peso for the first 100 kw, then 1 peso per kw for the next 150, and the it jumps to 4 pesos per kw. This is in a two month billing cycle. So, yes if you're using a lot it can get expensive. That's why some who qualify have more than one meter. Multiples of the the lower tier charges. I have two meters.
Good information. I just found your channel. I do have a question. Are there a lot of stray animals around? That is one thing that would make it hard to live there.
Not a lot of strays. They all belong to someone. Like the cows and horses that graze by the lake and occasionally like the looks of my grass if I leave the car gate open. They all go home at night. There are street dogs, but they're never aggressive. Its had to be territorial if you're homeless, I guess. I've seen street dogs who make the rounds of the butcher shops and eat well. There are several shelters and rescue places for strays. Local vets have week end spay and neuter clinics for free. Are you annoyed by animals, afraid of animals, or feel badly for them?
JC Travel Stories Good final question, JC. Reading commenters inquiry I’d knee jerked thinking it was the emotional distress of not being able to do Something. (I’ve rescued many Puerto Penasco strays.) Most prohibitive of moving to MX for me is just the issue previous comment brought forward. Yes, being there & getting hands on providing solutions is an effective balm. For those who, massively, love dogs it’s just a heartbreaking slog. Thank you, JC, for taking the time to respond & to those Ajijicans? providing safe haven to our best friends. See you back in Tucson!
@@JCTravelStories Hi 👋 Jerry, not sure why I didn’t see your reply before. Definitely I love all animals and I’d just feel bad seeing them homeless. Our French mastiff Karma passed away in her sleep this summer. 💔I’ve vacationed in Mexico and seen dogs get chased away by security guards on the beach and so I donate to a veterinary clinic down there. It’s nice to hear your answer to my questions. Thanks 😊
Thank you for your videos! I recently subscribed to your channel, and look forward to each new upload. I have a question that may be a bit out of the ordinary. I will begin by explaining that my wife and I live on the eastcoast in the states, and plan to retire in roughly ten years. Currently, our home is surrounded on all sides by agricultural farmland. This presents a problem, as we rely on well-water for our water supply. Modern farming techniques in the USA include the liberal use of Roundup (or Glysophate, if you prefer the chemical name). Unfortunately, I seem to have a severe reaction to ingesting the "trace amounts" of this herbacide in our food, water, and yes...even showering and hand washing. During peak growing seasons, I suffer tremendously, with severe migraine headaches, which often incapacitate me, and at the very least render me dependent upon prescriptions to treat the migraine symptoms. That said, my cyber-friend.... my question is this: What is the current state of chemical toxicity of the Lake Chapala water, and the surrounding affected well-water? I have watched enough of your (wonderful) videos to know that you have bottled water delivered to your home on a regular basis. However, I have an urgent need to learn the quality of the water that we would come into contact with, if we were to relocate to Chapala. Much thanks and appreciation for your channel and your very helpful dedication to your viewers! ☺
They used malathon in the lake to control water hyacinth ... lirio ... a few years ago. It dissapates, but there could be residual traces, I guess. They certainly use a variety of agro chemicals that run off into the lake. Studies claim that the water in the lake is ok. People swim, fish, etc. The ground water from deep wells is said to be potable, not shallow wells. If your that sensitive to it, I would be concerned. Sorry.
@@JCTravelStories, Thank you so much for the information. I heard you say that you were headed northward soon, to the US, via motorhome. Wishing you and your wife safe and enjoyable travels!
JC Travel Stories Very considerate, thoughtful response JC. Used to watch your videos back a few yrs. Then, of course, related others came on my feed & got sidetracked w/“new & improved” versions. Just today JC showed up in my feed. So glad. Checked back in. JC puts all the millennial comers to shame w/added experience; informative; insightful & photographically pleasing videos. Your response to comments goes above & beyond in educating us even further. Kudos. Subscribed.
I'm taking my mind with me ... so I guess there will still be what's on it. :) I may miss a few posts as I get the RV in shape after it sitting for 7 months, but I'll be making videos along the way.
How do you deal with the beggars in Ajijic? I've heard there are more in your city than others. Is this due to the increased number of expats living there? Thank you for you wonderful and informative videos.
I recently discovered your channel and I am sad to see you leave Mexico because everything seems so beautiful. However, I've become obsessed with RV living (watching not actually doing so myself 😉). I am looking forward to your next adventure.
Great video Mr Jc.... I got a question my husband loves Yard sales and he wants to know if they are any yard sales similar to the united states ? Thank you
Pack lots of shorts and T-shirts it’s still pretty hot in Tucson and Phoenix maybe head straight to the White Mountains in Arizona where it’s in the 70s and 50s currently. 👍👊😎
My T-Mobile works the same in Mexico as it does in the US. There is no extra cost using the phone and internet in Mexico. Dialing Mexican lines can be confusing. Just when I think I have it down it seems to change. It may be the alignment of the planets. I don't know. Weather that would work the same way in reverse I don't know. That is if you bought T-Mobile in Mexico. I think what I may do when my wife and I in Mexico for longer lengths of time is to buy a cheep pay as you go phone for local calling. And buy the time at the pharmacy when needed.
Thanks for your videos. I've living as an expat but not in Mexico in the Philippines. I'm leaving here for good in November and so I'm looking into Mexico. You mentioned being on the road and using Verizon for internet. I've also thought about getting on the road too, I might look into T-Mobile and see what they have to offer. If you pull into a McDonald's parking lot you might get WIFI but you'd rather have your own unlimited internet.
hi jerry, I and my wife are making plans to go to mexico for 6 months in october . you mentioned storing your motor home, where can we store our 5th wheel trailer in tucson for the least amount of storage fees? thanks rich
Good question ... because it makes me stop and think about it. I guess my sense of drive is to always to have some project going on. For years it was planning and building projects here in Mexico. I'm passionate about my RV and RV life ... and that's always a project whether I plan it or not. Currently, its working on this TH-cam channel project. Happy is just a habit. I've been addicted to happy for a long, long time. :)
@@JCTravelStories thank you for sharing some of sources of your driving force. When many ppl have knowledge, years are not always met by wisdom. Your channel is a special place because you share knowledge and wisdom with a boot on each side of the line and mastery of two cultures. ¡Gracias a usted !
I have an AT&T internet account. Included is a Hot Spot that can be transported with me wherever I go. Included is a telephone service which I do not use but the assigned phone number is one way they access my account. For this unbelievable service I pay a total of $69/mo. I get 250 gigs a month. The service is great. And I have 2 cell phones, a tablet, and a computer all on their WIFI. Apparently they don't offer that same program anymore. When last I checked they offered 100 gigs for $100/mo. I love AT&T. I always imagined RVing and figured that WIFI would be a super asset on the road.
hey JC quick hi from Bulgaria, I didnt do my couple of months back in UK this year followed by the roadtrip through Europe and kind of missed it, its great to have two worlds isnt it?
Eastern Europe is steeped in myth, its really very easy to operate here, and it is so much more civilised than UK which is a very frenetic expensive place........looking at numbeo.com it is virtually the same as Mexico to live, probably property is cheaper here, and crime is probably lower.
Minor annoyance: I dont like the acoustics in this room. Too echo-ey if thats a word. Maybe you could use a wind sock equivalent for echo problem. Or do it in a smaller room with carpeting?
I know this is an old video and you may not be replying to comments but I’m gonna take a shot! I’m from Texas, the land of large trucks & full size SUV’s 🤣 in Ajijic is it more common or sensible to drive a small car there due to narrow roads or would large trucks/SUV’s work fine there?
I have Boost Mobile which runs on the Sprint lines with unlimited everything for $50/mo, or $5 extra includes Mexico. However, it's my understanding that Verizon gets the best national coverage, with AT&T next. AT&T covers Mexico also. The irony is that I don't really use my phone that much for internet. I live on my computer at home day and night, but the phone, not so much. The next time I return to Mexico I'll probably add the Mexico calling to my phone As it is I receive WhatsApp messages from Mexico every day so I don't really need a calling line while in the States. Have a great trip. I know you'll enjoy being back in your RV.
Pity you’re both travelling to the US we’re staying in Mexico from the U.K. Nov - Jan, hoping to buy you a beer to say thanks for the info! Fun question... my wife was wondering is there an old fashioned English tea Shop with cake? I think she wants to set it up when we move there. She thinks US expats like anything English!
I don't know of a shop like that, but Guadalajara is a city of 5 million .... maybe there. Ajijic is a pretty international crowd ... a Tea Shop might just be a welcome addition.
Did you ever found out if there’s such a place in Ajijic? My partner is there right now working on our place down there, I could ask him to find out. We r also moving down there from California.

Travel is the best education, and the best antidote to tribalism. :)
Been to both Tucson and Guad in the last 24 hours. Now home in Ajijic. :)
Thanks MissMayFlower! Kind words are appreciated. :)
Love your videos. Very good and accurate information, thank you :)
A lot of people in the US have a very scary and wrong concept about Mexico, due to all the news.
JC :)
Bienvenido de nuevo a su casa. :)
Some of these questions are no-brainers and simple, but you do d great job in answering and sharing your comments.
Thats the beauty of mexico
VIVA MEXICO , Happy belated Independance Day JC my blessings
I always enjoy your playful personality and laughed out loud at your star wars' quote "these aren't the droids you're looking for". As for the many persons making comments, I look forward to your travel videos and continuing comments on Mexico.
Thanks Lloyd. We're in Tucson ... hot. Missing our great weather at home already.
Hi Jerry and Lynn wanted to watch this video again and I love your channel Jerry.
Welcome Ralph. If you see me getting close to Wickenburg again give me heads up on what to do there. :)
We’re N of Tucson. So inspiring to know there are simpatico folks in Wickenburg also living under the fear & dread of this oppressive, plutocratic regime intent on the rape, pillage of our beautiful state. Our country. If Drumpf has his way, we will bomb MX. Who are we? Bigly sad.
Can you do more Q&A Jerry? You are excellent at giving information! :)
Gosh!! Just love way you come across in all videos.look so FORWARD to them. Thank you great job!! Good thoughtful information!!
You and your wife have a great time traveling, and be safe. You both have a wonderful sense of living a very pleasurable life, whatever that means LOL.
Thanks Charles. I think it means that we are very fortunate to live not just one, but two dreams.
I really enjoy watching your videos. It's my plan to one day retire in Mexico. I've heard that the Oregon Coast is very beautiful, hopefully we can get to see some of that in your future videos while you're here in The States. Thank you for the great content!! Keep up the good work :)
We are moving from Phoenix AZ to Ajijic in March. Thanks for all the good tips!
Good move! We'll be back home in March.
Awesome videos. Thank so much.
Lol “mañana doesn’t mean tomorrow. It means not now.” Truth! 🤣
I love watching your videos, I have subscribe to your Chanel. thank you for the great stories you’ve shared with us.
Thanks for subscribing Ivonne! Enjoy! :)
I love your haircut, Lyn. I'm transitioning to silver in preparation for retirement and gypsying. Love it.
People, please give your cleaning, laundry and car wash 'opportunities' to the locals. No need to worry. They work hard to support their families.
Absolutely!!! Hire the locals ... wait???? Are there retired gringos washing cars, now? :)
I love the southwest! We lived in Tucson twice and loved it.
I am 20 year old guy . I watch your video .☺️
And....?
U can learn a lOt.
Great, unassuming attitude and very useful information. Thank you.
Sigh....
@@JF-fx2qv lol!.probably not!....
@@JCTravelStories I like that saying!! Its very true! :)
I'm from Monterrey, I did not love my country (Mexico) so much ... until I started watching your videos!
I'll be waiting for your next videos
enjoy yourselves you two and hope the weather stays with you... xoxo
Hi JC. Will be looking forward to sayin HI when you arrive in Yuma. I would like to see what you know about Tucson too. Also Algondones dentist recommendations from your friends. Thank you for your interesting videos and hoping Lynn is feeling fine. Michael in Yuma,AZ.
Probably be in Yuma in Dec
Living in beautiful Ajijic AND RV'ing the beautiful 48 lower States of the Grand USA, now that's living it up Sir! Hmm.....have you ever rv'ed in the beautiful Beehive State? I hear there are some very scenic traiker parks for rv'ers just north of the beautiful li'l mountain town of Moab between the sloughs of the colorado river and what would be the residential and orchard part of the little city. If not I truly recommend you go there, you won't be sorry at all! :)
I have a couple of videos on this channel from Moab, Canyon Lands, and Arches. Great area!
I would love to live your life! You wouldn't have a single friend that lives similarly! Solo is great but it would be nice to have company! You have encouraged me to start seriously using and learning more Spanish and come down to check it out!
I'm too old to be a matchmaker, Anita. :)
Lynn's new hair bob suits her well! Great look, she looks younger! That sporty BMW is to blame for your speeding, it's really not your fault! ;) Donas has great breakfasts too as well as donuts! Safe journey back inside the USA. I miss Mexico!
And Mexico misses you!
Lynn looking pretty with the new style, hair cut . Enjoy your r.v. trip be safe. 😁 ✌
Thanks Laura! We'll be safe. :)
Nice motor home you guys deserve it!
I really enjoy watching your videos. You are entertaining and informative at the same time.
Happy and safe travels🥂🎉🙋♀️
I also echo the comments on Lynn's new do, she looks fabulous!
Rockin the new do, Lynn. 👍🏻
Interesting video as always! Oh and I love Linda's hair. It looks like from the picture the cut took 10 years off her age. Very refreshing look!
You welcome my friend!!!!
T-MOBILE would be a good option.
Thanks Elaine. I'm hoping to still get questions about Mexico to answer.
Great answer ..sounds like a good live
@@JCTravelStories thank you!
You look so relaxing down there man...
Yep.
Thanks for sharing this information with us.
I enjoy you videos and look forward to each
new one that comes out...!
I do have a personal question for you and if
you’d rather not say I understand.
Your home and grounds are so beautiful, would
you mind sharing how much it has cost you to
build and maintain such an amazing place...?
Have a great day and be blessed.
We purchased two properties and built the tall part of the house between them to join two smaller houses. We bought in 2004 when prices were lower. What it cost us is not longer available. The property would be valued today at about $700k USD with a 1/2 acre of lake front property. Google this magazine ... pictures and prices ... Points South Chapala Edition.
JC Travel Stories
I kind of thought something like that...
I knew the cost had to be up there, your
place is so big plus taking into account
the lake front property...
Thanks For sharing this with us.
Have a great day and be blessed.
Safe travels to both of you.
thankyou......thankyou another great video
JC - Hey I love Classical & Jazz piano. . Could you play for us on one your upcoming video vlog's. . And, who is your favorite pianist?
I said I've played the piano since I was young ... I didn't say I played it well. I play only for my own enjoyment. Its relaxing ... meditative ... personal. Don't have a favorite .... other than me. :)
I hope you guys hace a great time while you are in the RV, keep sharing what's in your mind, I enjoy it very much, big hugs
Mike's correct. Driscoll Farms owns some of them.
Cielito lindo pretty song
Great video. Speak truth ! thanks!
Another great video. Lynn’s new look is fantastic. Please tell her.
Lynn says, Thank you! Really. She's sitting right here. :)
Your wife's new haircut looks nice on her. Thanks for sharing.
Just enjoy each day. You have excellent tastes. ❤️💕🇺🇸
I enjoy your videos and see Mexico as an option for when my parents pass and I retire again. my question is this do the houses in Ajijic typically have garages? carports? driveways? thanks Steve f
But i stiil have several questions. Main one is the near by valcano thats active. How deal with thinking about that?
I'll be in Hillsboro in October. We like pie!
@@JCTravelStories The hubby works in Hillsboro near Intel, so when it gets closer, let me know what kind of pie you two kids like!
❤️👍, Grito to Lynn and JC, hope you had a Happy Independence Day, the Independence Day videos I've seen are spectacular!. To those with so many questions, It's not about moving to another country its adjusting to life somewhere else or a different lifestyle. The kids will soon have to adjust to life in a RV, I feel horrible for them (not my style), But I think they will have the time of their life...lol. To be a good adventurer/traveler/retiree know your lifestyle first and adjust accordingly. As for me, home and life is where I'm at right now, sometimes just waking up is an adventure, and that's all that matters to me. P.S. I got a feeling I could adjust my lifestyle to their RV very quickly, see that wasn't hard.
❤️👍, Grito a Lynn y JC, ¡espero que tengas un Feliz Día de la Independencia, los videos del Día de la Independencia que he visto son espectaculares! Para quienes tienen tantas preguntas, no se trata de mudarse a otro país, sino de adaptarse a la vida en otro lugar o a un estilo de vida diferente. Los niños pronto tendrán que adaptarse a la vida en un RV, me siento horrible por ellos (no es mi estilo), pero creo que tendrán el mejor momento de su vida ... jaja. Para ser un buen aventurero / viajero / jubilado conozca primero su estilo de vida y ajuste en consecuencia. En cuanto a mí, el hogar y la vida es donde estoy ahora mismo, a veces simplemente despertar es una aventura, y eso es todo lo que me importa. P.D. Tengo la sensación de que podría ajustar mi estilo de vida a su RV muy rápidamente, veo que no fue difícil. Buen Provecho 8 ^}
LOL!
Gracias, suerte!
Another great video! 👍👌😘😘
Beautiful motorhome!
I'm in Salem Oregon high of 68 today you sure you want to come up here? Lol
Its not about the weather. Its about the kids who are Oregonians. :)
Thanks. I am really interested if Mexico is on the 60hz or like Europe on 50hz system.
Yes. 60 hertz and normal 127 volts. No problem for your lathe and power tools from the USA.
127v 60hz
You look so much better with the messy hair 😃
That said, my cyber-friend.... my question is this:
What is the current state of chemical toxicity of the Lake Chapala water, and the surrounding affected well-water?
Sorry.
@@JCTravelStories,
Thank you so much for the information. I heard you say that you were headed northward soon, to the US, via motorhome. Wishing you and your wife safe and enjoyable travels!
JC Travel Stories Very considerate, thoughtful response JC. Used to watch your videos back a few yrs. Then, of course, related others came on my feed & got sidetracked w/“new & improved” versions. Just today JC showed up in my feed. So glad. Checked back in. JC puts all the millennial comers to shame w/added experience; informative;
insightful & photographically pleasing videos. Your response to comments goes above & beyond in educating us even further. Kudos. Subscribed.
Yes Jerry. T mobile now has unlimited plan for 50. On prepaid.
Hi Jerry, I'm going to miss the visits to your house when your away. Will you continue your video thoughts on the road, or take a break?
I'm taking my mind with me ... so I guess there will still be what's on it. :) I may miss a few posts as I get the RV in shape after it sitting for 7 months, but I'll be making videos along the way.
How do you deal with the beggars in Ajijic? I've heard there are more in your city than others. Is this due to the increased number of expats living there? Thank you for you wonderful and informative videos.
Don't know where you heard that. Don't think its true. Lots more beggars in the US.
I recently discovered your channel and I am sad to see you leave Mexico because everything seems so beautiful. However, I've become obsessed with RV living (watching not actually doing so myself 😉). I am looking forward to your next adventure.
They are not leaving for good! only 6 months.
Madeleine Reilly thanks, good to know. I somehow missed that part
Scorpio Moon We miss them to, but keep watching, JC may reconnect now and then.
Great video Mr Jc.... I got a question my husband loves Yard sales and he wants to know if they are any yard sales similar to the united states ? Thank you
Raider U. Lomeli in mexico they called Tianguis and it’s every Sunday a bit different of concept
A tianguis is a street market unlike a yard sale. Thaere are yard sales here... subastas.
Pack lots of shorts and T-shirts it’s still pretty hot in Tucson and Phoenix maybe head straight to the White Mountains in Arizona where it’s in the 70s and 50s currently. 👍👊😎
I'm in Tucson, in shorts, in a tee shirt and YES its hot. We'll be heading north in a few days.
Ok. Thanks! I have unlimited calls and text. At home I use about 60 gigs per month of data. That's what I was talking about.
I have unlimited talk and text with Verizon. I need 60 gigs of data a month. That's a lot parking at Mickey Ds'.
Yes, Play that piano...Mr. Paimo Man!
hi jerry, I and my wife are making plans to go to mexico for 6 months in october . you mentioned storing your motor home, where can we store our 5th wheel trailer in tucson for the least amount of storage fees? thanks rich
I store mine at Park and Sell. $105 for two spaces to accommodate the car also. No pack rats there!
Is there anyplace you’d wished you’d looked at before purchasing
Nope. Very happy with decisions we've made. :)
We have T-mobile unlimited $60 per month for two phones. This plan is for over 55+ and no contract and price will never be increased. We love it.
You scared me for a while, when you said, " My wife and I have to leave our home in mexico"..... I missed your videos for about 2 weeks, but im back!
Welcome back, Judith! :)
Hi JC, I was wondering...:
- what give you a SENSE OF DRIVE after being retired?
- what brings you HAPPINESS in general on a day to day basis?
Txs
Your coach is beautiful. I have a 2008 class C Dodge diesel. Is ultra low sulphur diesel available in mexico?
I don't know, but I suspect it is. Mine is a 2001 so I don't use the DEF. and I've never had a diesel in Mexico. There are lots of diesels in Mexico.
Yes, its great to have two worlds, although it sound like yours may be very much more diverse than our two.
Eastern Europe is steeped in myth, its really very easy to operate here, and it is so much more civilised than UK which is a very frenetic expensive place........looking at numbeo.com it is virtually the same as Mexico to live, probably property is cheaper here, and crime is probably lower.
Ooh...u rented out the gold castle.
Correct.
Ok thanks ,no problem
Minor annoyance: I dont like the acoustics in this room. Too echo-ey if thats a word. Maybe you could use a wind sock equivalent for echo problem. Or do it in a smaller room with carpeting?
Thanks for the feedback, Eric. I'll try a cat fur thingy.
A smaller room with carpeting. Hmmm.. I have 3700 Sq Ft of ceramic tile and no carpet.
I have unlimited talk and text. What I need is 50 to 60 gigs of data per month.
Mine includes intenet but I don't think it will serve you well in the Western states. :-(
Pity you’re both travelling to the US we’re staying in Mexico from the U.K. Nov - Jan, hoping to buy you a beer to say thanks for the info! Fun question... my wife was wondering is there an old fashioned English tea Shop with cake? I think she wants to set it up when we move there. She thinks US expats like anything English!
Swordofdamocles602 I think there are places in Devon and Cornwall offer clotted cream delivery worldwide - may not be cheap.
Swordofdamocles602 try www.britishcornershop.co.uk/roddas-clotted-cream
I don't know of a shop like that, but Guadalajara is a city of 5 million .... maybe there. Ajijic is a pretty international crowd ... a Tea Shop might just be a welcome addition.
Did you ever found out if there’s such a place in Ajijic? My partner is there right now working on our place down there, I could ask him to find out. We r also moving down there from California.
