  • Hope this helps anyone looking to install a ridetech kit on their 21-22 F150. This is the way I did it. There might be better ways but this worked for me. I added a few tips and pointers. Make sure you follow instructions for correct procedure and torque specs. 2022 F150 XLT 5.0 RWD V8 in a stone gray color. Reach out to me with any questions

    Magnificent looking truck, you have a real gem, extremely hard to find. I have a 2019 5.0 2wd short wheelbase truck also (black). I'm almost 60, grew up with only regular cabs, short and long boxes. My previous truck (which I still drive twice a week) is also a swb 1997 f150 4.2. I was very surprised in pre-covid 2019 at how difficult these are to find. Bought my XL, 101A package, stock in February 2020, price was reduced to 29k as no one wanted it. My dealer traded the other dealer a Fusion as they didn't have another truck on the lot that cheap. I'm to old to do all the mods that your doing. I did do a few items. A Roush catback and a Ford Perf. 2 inch drop for the rear. Also found a fellow doing a chrome delete on his Lariat, so I picked up his grille, LED headlights/foglights, and his 20 inch rims for 2k.
    Your truck is looking great. I'll subscribe to watch your progress

    Very helpful. I appreciate how you laid out the different shackles side by side and your filming and narration was very clear. You are a natural with only 10 subscribers! I've been saving my empties so I can afford a Ride Tech. A little bummed that there is a fitment issue with the plate and the shock bolt. I guess you felt you did not need the air bags or the anti-sway bar or traction bars they offer? I hope you do another follow up with your ride impressions after you've had it a while. I also bought the Maxtrac 1.25 shackle. Seems good quality but like you I am more of a fan of the rubber bushings so not sure if I will install. I'm curious if using the Maxtrac would actually raise the rear slightly since the axle is flipped?

    • @brokedownfixedup
      @brokedownfixedup  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the feedback! The bolt fitment issue I believe is fixable. I just gotta slide the axle over a bit. I’m planning to do a follow up pretty soon. It’s been great. Well worth the money. The long max trax shackle will lower it another inch. If I put the really short shackle I showed, it should raise it about an inch.

    The flip kit portion is an interesting design. It's different from the Maxtrac one I've installed or IHC's flip kit where you have a plate on the spring perch that U-bolts latch onto. The idea of a ¼" steel plate being the only thing keeping the rear axle together while under crazy stress still doesn't sit well with me. If I didn't have traction bars I would've ended up like a dude on the f150forums...the U-bolts just rolled right through the lips of those plates flattening them during a track pull. Scary stuff.
    So thinking about weak points to Ridetech's approach using round U-bolts that go directly over the axle...I supposed the nuts themselves would be it. But I guess it's all moot if you have traction bars...keeping the axle straight putting minimal stress on the flip kit.
    I guess it's just a rule of thumb then...you put any kind of flip kit on, you better have traction bars to keep everything in tact in case you put down some crazy torque...

    Awesome video and thank you for this upload. Currently ready to put this kit in our 2023 scsb just like yours, but very confused on the rear shackles. I thought I wanted to use the provided adjustable ones, but use the highest holes to make her as low as possible, assuming it would be to low then? How did your pinion angle come out afterwards with this setup? That rear shackle has everything to do with the pinion angle for sure.

    • @brokedownfixedup
      @brokedownfixedup  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I chose to use the factory shackles because it was the ride height I was looking for and prefer to use factory parts as often as I can. I’d use the ridetech ones if I wanted a different ride height. I have not had any pinion angle issues

    Does it bottom out in the rear on large bumps? I have the IHC 3/5 drop on my 21 RCSB and it bottoms in the back. I actually installed Ridetech air bags on mine to help with the bottoming and so I can tow if I want to.

    • @brokedownfixedup
      @brokedownfixedup  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have yet to bottom out. I have about 2 5/8” of travel from the bump stop to the rear axle. But I’m only lowered 4.25” so just take .75” of travel away if you’re on a 3/5. My adjustable fox shocks I’m sure help to not bottom out
