      That's true i can't deny it. I agree with your point. But still 0-200kmh in 20 seconds from a FWD car is more impressive result because a FWD 280hp car strugles more to find traction in the start and during the acceleration (more wheel spinning) compared to AWD/4WD - RWD cars with the same output of power (hp)

    But I'm more excited about the upcoming Hyundai Kona N, although its still the same under the shell.

    • @kevildub
      @kevildub 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wouldn't say embarrass, but it would be up there as an option if deciding between those cars.
      The updated chassis of the MK 8 GTI is apparently really good. Also the 2.0L EA888 in the Golf is a tried and tested engine with a lot of tuning potential. It has also comes standard with a really good LSD since the MK 7.5 version.
      So yeah, it's not going to embarrass the Golf GTI, but definately a respectable competitor. Haven't read up much on the BMW but I suspect it will be in a different price bracket so hard to make a direct comparison even though it's a FWD performance hatch.

    • @sizakelecomfortmtshweni9530
      @sizakelecomfortmtshweni9530 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevildub This has LSD as well, usually the GTi gets the advantage from its DSG dual clutch quick shifting even when it makes less power but this dual clutch is rapid as well, not to mention a whole second difference to 100.
      Although the chassis in the Golf is good, I'm sure the i30 N being developed in Nurburgring would still have an edge with it's better drivetrain. Clearly that guy is working his BMW M magic in this N division.

    • @kevildub
      @kevildub 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sizakelecomfortmtshweni9530 yes the LSD in the i30n is apparently really good. The fact that the eLSD aggressiveness can be changed with different driving modes is impressive too. I was just pointing out that the GTI also had a decent LSD. I've never driven the i30n tbh but they seem more track capable than the GTI. I've seen heaps at track days at Wakefield in NSW so it seems like they are built for it.

    5.2 is proper rapid for a front wheel drive, I'm sure that time would turn to shit if any potential owner "tunes " it. It'll just be a smokeshow.

    Impressive time for 0-100. But at 4"35 we can see a blue or white smoke from the exhaust: it's oil? Due to the turbo? it seems not normal to smoke as that.

      This car is brand new, with only around 1300km on the clock (at the time of testing). It's likely still running in. A little bit of smoke is pretty normal on new engines.

      We use a video template and often leave in the term 'sport mode' generically when sometimes we should technically specify what each car's sporty mode is called. Again, sorry about the confusion.

    I don't understand why hyundai hasn't brought the i30N to the states. I have a 2020 veloster n 6mt with the PP and I feel like the quirkiness of it turns a lot of people off. I love my veloster but with the added space and practicality of the 4 door format I feel like it would sell much better than the Veloster N.
