Qui-Gon was a Guardian. But he was as much a Sage as Yoda was. His green Lightsaber makes total sense.
I think Qui-Gon would've told Anakin that having internal darkness and attachments doesn't make him a bad person or a bad Jedi. That they only make him human and would've taught Anakin to unify the two sides of himself.
Surely by this reasoning, Ahsoka's first lightsaber should have been blue like Anakin's, but it was green. The Legends way was better: you use a crystal that you attune to and whatever it's colour happened to be was the colour blade you got. The reason that the majority of Jedi blades were green or blue was because, by the time of the Clone Wars, Ilum was the only planet left where you could find lightsaber crystals, and Ilum crystals were only ever green or blue. This was why the Sith had to use synthetic crystals- the Jedi had Ilum under such tight lockdown, the Sith could never have got in to get a natural crystal.

If Ilum only had blue and green, how did mace windu get purple?
I think it’s because to have a purple lightsaber, you have to be able to apply dark side abilities and have yourself in control. Anakin just went full dark
While he did go to the dark side, there were several times his dark side came through but was controlled in the end. An example of this happened during the arc with the son daughter and father: when controlling the son and daughter.
in star wars lore, you either are a light sided sith, or a jedi who uses the darkside and have control like you said
No, it isn’t.. Do you know how many Sith Lords had purple blades? Literally more than anyone could even name off the top of their head.. Bane & Revan had both purples & red ones; Tulak Hord had a purple one he didn’t use much along with an orange one (which is the one he actually utilized), Darth Traya had multiple purple blades; and then during the era of the Sith Wars, countless Sith Lords of the reconstituted Sith Empire had purple blades. TONS of beings who “went full dark” had purple blades.
You're onto something with the control, but there's more to it that isn't mentioned in this video. The overall style of Vapad includes utilizing the opponent's dark side energy against them, thus the purple color. Had Anakin tried this, he may have turned a lot sooner. Mace was able to utilize it so well, he had Palpatine in checkmate. It takes a very disciplined mind to handle that much dark side and not turn. Anakin didn't have the stability required to learn Vapad, so mace never taught it to him, thus no purple lightsaber for Ani.

Or other Jedi as well. One being the “Dark Woman” - Anya Kuro, living at the same time as Windu. A little bit older than him. Point is, tons of other Jedi & Sith utilized purple lightsabers before Vaapad was ever even created. You don’t have to be a Vaapad user to have a craft a purple lightsaber

As with all of Disney's changes to the lore- their changes to kaiber crystals were for the worse. It was more interering when kaiber crystals denoted role/rank within the order. An individual's chosen path through the force. Now the colors can just mean whatever the writers want, I suppose.
I always preferred how Legends handled the subject. It allowed for a more interesting view on the idea of how it was Jedi culture and beliefs that became narrowed to a strict orthodoxy that reduced the typical Jedi blades to being either blue or green. Having the color change based on personality just sounds lazy to me for the most part.
So , what Disney is saying is that what a person identifies as determines his lightsaber color ?

If palps hadn't been poisoning the well from the beginning, Ani and mace could likely have come to a close understanding. They were close in a lot of ways, personality wise, and could have hammered out a peace, if anakin hadn't already been under other influence.

If Dooku looked down upon dual blades so much, why did he have Ventress use them?
Jaina Solo also had a violet blade. Mara Jade carried Anakin's lightsaber after the showdown between Joruus C'Baoth and Luuke Skywalker on Mount Tantiss.
The explanation I heard, and one I agree with is that Anakin, unlike Jedi like Yoda or Luke, focused on the combat applications of the force, where Yoda and Luke focused on the use of the force. For example if you were to afford Jedi colours to sith, Vader would have blue and sidious would have green, as each focused on the force in completely different ways
I always thought purple was just put in because Samuel l Jackson favourite colour wad purple 💜 🤔 so they wrote it into law
If I was a jedi I would have studied all of the force because I do believe like stated here that information/abilities are neither good or evil it's how there used that defines it. I would have loved to see what colour crystal I would have gotten 🤞 (orange). 😂
I think I'd be stuck in the middle with the personality of I can't be good and I won't be evil .
If I had a lightsaber and had to pick one of the conventional colors, I’d go with green. But if I could chose a unique color, I’d pick turquoise.

It REALLY surprising? Mace was always Anakin's biggest critic. Had Mace not spent most the time being a hypocrite an made it a point to be the bane of Anakin's existence an treated him better MAYBE then Anakin woulda both TRUSTED Mace in the critical moment an even been capable of making a Purple blade. Mace, was very hypocritical an his form even was actually quite flawed, he was a fool to thing it AND HE was "perfect" an well balanced. He shoulda seen Anakin as a perfect Guinea Pig for a perfect test of a TRULY perfect Vaapadd by First before Anakin ever came on scene worked to FINALLY fix Vaapadd an THEN waited for the perfect test subject to produce a more balanced Jedi from someone like Anakin... He shoulda worked HARD to train an mold Anakin an get a mutual respect going even IF they didn't much like or trust each other. It coulda made ALL the difference in the critical moments.
What if Anakin actually managed to talk mace window down, and together they took in Palpatine/Sidious
So this means Anakin should have wielded a purple lightsaber after all blue was never really his true color then but since the order were so filled with pride and prejudice and so pridefully hard on Anakin he had to sweep his emotions under the rug without showing it you would think being the Chosen One he should’ve been granted a purple lightsaber instead of a blue one but because the jedi were extremely rigid they wanted Anakin to be like everyone else but in TRUTH he wasn’t and they knew it too he was always different and yeah I personally strongly agree if he had been trained by Qui Gon that would have been the case than originally i also think the reason why Mace Windu was granted permission to wielding a purple lightsaber was bc he was exceptional in harnessing the dark side to a degree of focus but it was also thru exceptionalism that caused him from ever being looked down upon unlike Anakin i think it was also pride and prejudice that became one of the jedi’s failed ways from the beginning if they had at least allowed Anakin to learn and to teach him how to embrace his emotions in learning how to control them like Windu did instead of forcing him to pretend to be something that he wasn’t by nature and a slight change of ethics things might’ve gone differently for the better
Samuel L Jackson requested a purple blade that was his only stipulation.( EVERYONE ELSE) As far as Hayden goes the man was given cheesy lines, but he was also representing. someone who grew up without exploring his emotions, so for them to still be child like even in a young adult life is actually pretty par for the course not to mention ultimately, I thought he was a damn good actor and people just hate on him, because they can’t put themselves in a mindset of what it would be to be a child who grew up as a slave, leaving his mother. Ultimately falling in love told he couldn’t express those emotions, and then when he did, it was like expressive them for the first time a.k.a. cheesy child like lines.

yup, the more power Sidious applied, the stronger that Mace Windu got. Its why Mace defeated him in the duel. Mace Windu's mistake, is he gave time to recover, instead of taking the siths head. But Star Wars is based off of the old Serials. Had we been watching Star Wars like those, As Mace Windu pulled back his lightsaber, it would of faded to black, and "To Be Continued..." would of come up, and you'd hae to come back the next week or so to see the rest of that office interactions.
The color change does explain the mandalorean creed turning the dark Saber to black

So, my Jedi character has one of the rare naturally red lightsabers which gave made the Jedi of the time exile him. However, he managed to find a Jedi master to teach him when he aided republic forces in the clone wars becoming his unofficial padawon. While he wasn’t anything special with the force he was insanely good with the lightsaber allowing him to combat far stronger foe’s including the likes of Anakin at one point. His preferred form is a modified form of Naiman which allows him to modify his strengths and weaknesses.
What is called “cannon” now is rubbish. Disney did not create the lore so what they call cannon holds little meaning in my eyes.
Synthetic crystals made a lot more sense than 'bleeding' them red.
This is very well explained. Anakin tried his best,but he couldn't.I agree,Qui-Gon would be per5fect teacher. He would taught Anakin so much differently than anyone else. I can imagine some conversations. Qui-Gon explaining higher mysteries not just of the Force but of life. Anakin being confused,but understanding :) Everything would fit slowly. I feel like Mace's dark nature manifested itself as zealotry to Jedi ideology and a rigid, narrow view of exactly what a Jedi is, while blinding him to the manipulation and corruption that befell the Jedi order.

Anakin asked to be taught Vapad and Mace refused because he didn’t think Anakin would be able to walk the line. Which given that Anakin as it was would draw on the dark side but without reflecting on that fact, is probably correct

@@gerardocovarrubias3058 why? Anakin ultimately proved Mace right. Plo Koon used force lightning and deeply analysed himself to be sure if he was using the dark side or not. Mace used it with great care and self understanding and control. Anakin used it on an increasingly regular basis with no evidence he even recognised what he was doing, never mind trying to control it.

I never really thought about it like that but yeah, Id have to agree with this. Mace was a zealot for the Jedi Dogma, in his mind bringing righteous fury against evil. His anger towards whom he perceived as evil or dangerous was borderline Dark Side, so much that his worldview was reflected in his Kyber crystal. It explains so much about his character, like when he was willing to kill Palpatine in his office after learning he was a sith lord. Really makes you wonder if Anakin had told that to anyone else besides Windu would Anakin have turned to the dark side?
Here is a question to anyone in the comments if Anakin Skywalker had excepted who he truly was, wouldn’t his light saber, blade, turn red signifying, the color of the Sith, and the deep seeded darkness that Aniken has within him

I like to believe that if Anakin had been born during the High Republic Era, he would have thrived as a Jedi.
I feel like if vader had survived in return of the jedi, anakin would make a new lightsaber that has a purple blade to signify that he was in both the light and dark sides of the force
Purple lightsabers didn't exist until Attack of the Clones? Really? Because Jaina Solo created hers back in 1996-97 in the Young Jedi Knights series. I guess the current cannon didn't have them until the movie. But they did exist in the old EU.
The EU "retcon" happened in April 2014. I understood that most of EU, what is now labeled legends, WAS canon until then. But in a sense you are right, the current canon didn't indeed have them until the movies introduced them to the more casual fans of the franchise.

I always disliked the new canon about lightsabers. Seems to wishy washy, and complicates stuff too much. By the logic presented Luke Skywalker should wield purple lightsaber in Return of the Jedi.
The colors are matching the skies. They are different levels, like belts. Maybe more of a fit for a time than permanent but your time depends on you to be satisfies with achievement.
At this stage pick a color and learn it or learn multiple.

red and blue (sith and jedi guardian) make purple
red and green (sith and jedi consular) make yellow
red, green and blue (sith, jedi consular and jedi guardian) make white
green and blue (jedi consular and jedi guardian) make cyan
(sith and jedi guardian) but more jedi guardian makes indigo?

Greens represent force proficiency, blue was for soldiers (those who utilised the saber more than the force), Purple was for this who were a mix of dark and light. Full potential Anakin would’ve had a purple lightsaber
The answer--why on earth WOULD he? He actually DOESNT fit either explanation of why they would have a purple saber! He would have to have understood and accepted his dark side, and no one can claim he had ever done anything remotely close to that!
Easy. You first see Anakin’s lightsaber in A New Hope, which was before Lucas allowed Samuel Jackson to have a purple one.
By the way people inaccurately describe purple blades, Anakin totally should have been "blessed" with that colour. But the commonly accepted purple lightsaber meaning is obviously a flawed assumption.
I'm not a fan of Disney's living kyber crystals. It's an odd change that provokes so many unintended subplots. Yuck.
Mara Jade’s lightsaber was not purple. It was pink. Magenta. Just like Kyp Durron’s first blade before his yellow one. She never had a purple one.

One question at start - Blue, Green and Purple... what with yellow which Luke took from old Jedi temple and used it after fight with his father in Cloud City?
Blue lightsabers: defend enlightenment and all that is good
Red (bled) lightsabers: embracing darkness and rejecting light
Purple lightsabers: reject all darkness just as sith reject light
Anakin used darkness to defend that which he cared about, not to destroy darkness itself. Even if anakin obtained a purple lightsaber, the Jedi would grow concerned that he was turning to the dark side.

Anakin should have had a yellow blade not purple. He was meant to be the balance. Purple is imbalance not balance. It is an inner conflict between Light and Dark. Yellow is established basically with Rey now as being the pure color of balance.
If there's one thing that I think this channel is overplaying, it's the importance/significance of lightsaber crystals. There's no reason to believe that the color actually matters. Yes, I know in canon there's the whole color=nature thing, but it doesn't really mean anything imo, it's not like it helps in interpreting force wielders' temperaments/natures since for most of star wars's history the colors were mostly randomly given.

wow. so, like, the lightsabers are totally fluid. they can change to match whatever pronouns you happen to be using that year. they aren't tied to what you were 'born as.' they are a reflection of whatever your immediate self perception is. that is cool! and who knew, all the lightsaber diversity back in the day; there were even orange ones.

So purple then. I'm all into practicing questionable actions that often is deemed as evil or ill in the name of doing good. If you're a rapist you desirve the death penalty. If you beat up a child, you should be relieved of a limb then forced into hard labor. Stuff like that, in star wars i'd probably have a strong belief that dark side powers should be allowed to use as long as it's used for good. Use force lightning as long as it's used on a sith. Good people can do bad deeds but bad deeds done by a good person in order to do good is inherently a good deed.

I think the first bad decision Mace made was not training Anakin himself, he could sense shatter points but had a decided issue with misinterpreting them until after they were over. Several times, Mace could have functioned like the mentor Anakin needed but chose not to.
And lies to how Anakin turn to the darkside, attachments, what does this have to do with Mace, well attachment aren't for people closest they love, planets, cities, or in Mace case, the Republic can be attachment too and that is how he got roast by Palpaine. Mace couldn't see the mirror of himself through Anakin.

His blade was blue for the sake of continuity. Not everything needs lore or mystery.
Mace Windu was the father that Aniken needed. I believe the force failed Aniken and allowing his blade to be blue. If it was purple, I believe Yoda would’ve instructed mace Windu to be Aniken Newmaster.
