There's a fine line between self-awareness and arrogance and AKA walks it as well as a Trapeze artist would. There's a disconnect in what he says about himself and his body language when he says it. It's almost as if he doesn't actually register himself as "all that", but because he's aware that that's probably what everyone feels he thinks about himself he plays in to it. It feeds in to his "image". And he's aware that as an artist, image is a big part of your package.
