- Radio broadcast clip from Club 98.3 (KKHQ in Corpus Christi, TX) on March 31, 1995. When news of Selena's death spread, local stations immediately changed their format to all SELENA music. This is a sample clip. Corpus Christi was completely stunned that day and all of this was live while the killer, Yolanda Saldivar sat in her truck in a stand-off with police. It was later confirmed that Saldivar got confirmation of Selena's passing through Corpus Christi radio.

My mom was a babysitter in Brownsville (we now live in Houston)when she was around her late teens and she remembered when she saw the news saying her favorite artist of all time passed away

I didn't exist when she was alive but my mom was around her late teens when she lived in brownsville being a babysitter and selena was her icon and when my mom turned on the news on the day of selena's death my mom cried because her favorite singer in the world was dead and apparently when i was little i remember my mom telling me she wished she could've gone to selena concert in Houston. To this day my mom plays and listens to her songs and knows the lyrics by heart to remember her teenage years
It's hard to even to listen to this especially if you were listening to that one that exact day and year frustrated to know if there is a chance she's alive while you listen to her music as she's slowly losing more and more blood each second. So sad.

My dad was listening to a country station in East Texas. They played Amor Prohibido to break the news and when he heard it play he knew something was terribly wrong cause what was this country station doing playing Selena. 😢

I'll never ever forget the day she died, the radio DJ in the Valley was playing the song Keep On Loving you by Reo Speedwagon while he announced Selena had died. It was soo sad we were all crying.
Wow! So sad. I was a teen when she passed away. I remember the ride home on the school bus, noone said a word. And one of the Tejano stations here in the RGV played her music all through the night. I remember staying up late listening and crying to her music. Her death and the death of my Grandpa 2 years later were the losses that impacted me as a teen.
