    Thanks for this - bearing in mind they’ve invested over £250 k in this project then I think we’re doing pretty well. I appreciate peoples comments re lack of certain unit types but unlike metal then sales have a big impact on the investment. Rifles in close order can be painted as the other light battalions who still wore stovepipe and militia battalions. Like you I look forward to working in plastic and doing ‘paint conversions’ and I think John made it clear the epic comes from the visuals of having a lot of figures on a base rather than small bases. I think it’s exciting and a welcomed arrival

      Thank you for watching Graham. I’m with you completely on all of that, I’ve had a close look at the Rifles and they can definitely paint up as red coats, the rifles and sword bayonets are quite visible, but you have to look for it, and on the tabletop you’re not really going to notice at all.

    Great revue,looking forward to getting them,think I will still only do four cavalry to a stand and keep it at three stands to a unit.....cos I'm tight.

      Thank you.
      I’ve just cleaned up the British Heavy Dragoons, once all on the base they form up pretty tight, I don’t think four on a base would look all that bad really.

      Someone else mentioned that, I must admit I still haven’t looked closely. I think they’re just shrunk down versions of the Sarrisa Precision 28mm kits, might check to see if it’s missing in that scale too.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep couldn’t agree more, at this scale you can do a lot with ‘painting conversions’. That won’t be for everyone, but that’s cool as well, plenty of options out there.

  • @SunburntHands
    @SunburntHands 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Could the figures be dry-fitted into the bases so they could be gamed with and then painted later?

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep they have holes in the bases when they push in, you may need to tac to hold them if they keep falling out, but the blue and red plastic mean you can play them as they are if you wish.

      @@MiniatureRealms thanks. I did watch, I was having a hard time seeing the actual figures. The colored plastic made it tough to see. But they look great and I can’t wait to get them!

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the red and blue plastic does make it very hard to see them clearly, the Infantry I’ve been sent is a pre-production grey and it’s a little easier, but still not super clear at this scale.

  • @iainfuller5083
    @iainfuller5083 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    People are going to have a lot of spare Carabiniers if they decide to actually make more than a weird unhistorical Heavy Cavalry Brigade, why not have seperate sprues of each different type of Cavalry? After looking at what is on offer in the box sets it does look like they really don't care too much about getting things that accurate (but they are the people that made Bolt Action so...).

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah there’s going to be a few in balances of numbers, I can only assume it’s a cost thing.
      There’s six Cavalry types per side (three light/three heavy and two/three more on the announced Prussian sprue coming next year), and I guess they just couldn’t/didn’t want to invest in. That would be fifteen sprues Vs the five they are using to cover the same sculpts. John Stallard said in an interview that it’s current £25k to get a plastic sprue tooled, I’m not sure if that’s total cost from design to ‘ready to cast’, but I can understand why they’ve gone the route they have.
      It’s definitely not perfect though, but I think this release is aimed at a market where the idea of getting lots of plastic models on the table at a reasonable budget is they goal. The are obviously plenty manufacturers out there that can cover this period in multiple scales, so something for everyone.

  • @filthyletonk1333
    @filthyletonk1333 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love the release, just was hoping the Dutch/Belgian infantry got a sprue as well as the other Allied German factions, weird only 3 Scottish regiments of infantry at Waterloo and they get a sprue? oh well.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I can see what you’re saying, from the point of view of numbers of each troop type at Waterloo then it seems odd. It will be a commercial decision though, men in skirts will sell more 😂

    • @filthyletonk1333
      @filthyletonk1333 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MiniatureRealms lol so true, but should be able to get away with just painting up british sprues as dutch and kgl with some file work.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @happy45rm
    @happy45rm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yeah but did you take them to task and question what on earth they were thinking sculpting a very small unit in line! I hope you told them that was a bad idea, I foresee many strips of 95th in line going to waste

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      😂 No I didn’t take them to task, they’ve explained why in their latest blog and I’m guessing that will remain the official line. Like you I’d have preferred skirmishing line, Hanoverians or a Stovepipe wearing infantry to represent those regiments still wearing them, but 🤷‍♂️
      I’ve got some plans for them, so I might be the strange person buying peoples leftovers 😂

    60mm base size. 240mm frontage for one battalion....wasted opportunity to at least allow a 10 man strip to be halved.

    • @MiniatureRealms
      @MiniatureRealms  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Frontage is definitely a question, it was with the ACW release as well. I’ve seen a lot of ACW strips cut in half and based on smaller bases, I expect people will do lots of similar things.
      I’m going to explore some ideas in a future video, potentially when I review them once my order arrives.
