Remarkable and unique : TAHTIB in 1976 by Rayyess Hassan and Rayyess Mahmoud

- This 1976 video is published with the permission of Dr Magda Saleh.
In the 70s', the TAHTIB leaders in Egypt were Rayyes Hassan and Rayyes Mahmoud. This video was taken in the region of SOHAG, at Sheikh Shebl.
"I was there in 2013 to assemble the Tahtib- Stick Game file for Unesco. I met with Rayyess Hassan still impressive with his Tahtib skills and attitude, also Rayess Fares and the younger generation such as Saad Salem (55y).

These Traditional Tahtib masters are part of the Modern Tahtib Instructors Certification Jury, scheduled on March 25th 2017.
They will assess the PRACTICE SKILLS.
Other Jury members will assess the TRAINING SKILLS and the DEVELOPMENT SKILLS.

You might notice the special feint used by Rayyess Hassan when changing the holding hand.
This feint is transmitted now in KHED'AA, one of the eight Modern Tahtib forms"

This video is the “TAHTIB” segment from the film “EGYPT DANCES,” audio-visual component of the doctoral dissertation « A DOCUMENTATION OF THE ETHNIC DANCE TRADITIONS OF THE ARAB REPUBLIC OF EGYPT», by Magda Saleh, New York University 1979.
The project was conceived and conducted by Magda Saleh, and the film was directed by Ibrahim El Mogy.

It's beautiful, but aren't martial arts supposed to train for a e eal fight? I read that tahtib was made in Ancient Egypt to train their soldiers. I imagine in actual warfare a dance like this would not be effective, but I can't seem to find a video of a more practical version of this being used.
Nowadays ...From martial arts as a killing mean, to Martial arts as way of being.
In japanese martial arts, the DO added to Karate, Aïki transformed the fighting discipline to inner fighting, i.e. ... grow as a human being in full sense of Respect.
