- After many copyright trials and tribulations, I got my reactions to every Heisei opening up! I may be a Showa fan, but there's a lotta fun stuff going on in the Heisei!

Considering that the suit actor lasted into Zi-O and still has some roles in the subsequent series, that was a good decision.
As an asian boy who used to spend all my breakfast money on kamen rider dvd, this video is a delight for me to see other people around the world appreciate it as much as i do

the series "kamen Rider kiva" takes place in two different years, 1986 and 2008. In 2008, the adventures of Wataru Kurenai (kamen Rider kiva) are narrated, while in 1986 the adventures of Otoya Kurenai (Wataru's father) are narrated .

Pacing for early Heisei is very different from the Heisei shows after Decade. Agito is slow paced as it has layers to it being a mystery. 555 is is about people who have trouble communicating with each other so the pace is almost kinda soapy

Monsters in Kamen Rider Kabuto are called Worms. It's special ability is to mimic a person it wants to. Later on, there's the other type of monster too as the series goes

Also for Gaim, it probably is from a writing perspective one of the better Kamen Rider series. It's a very solid series that goes pretty hard.
When Gaim first release , I’m not into it so much , cause it a little hit childish for me and the dance motif is kinda lame . But toward the end , it keep getting better and better by each episodes and the ending is one of the darkest ending of Neo Heisei Kamen Rider
It WAS written by Gen Urobochi (know as Urobutcher) known for making absurd twists. Puella Magica Madoka is a prime example... especially episode 3
@@soulskey Known for making absurd twists? really? I guess it kinda explains why i disliked the last 3 episodes or something close to that. I remember going from 0 to a 100 out of nowhere, kinda ruined it for me or else it would be my favorite Kamen Rider.
in my opinion, Gaim - Drive - Ryuuki - Kuuga - Ex-Aid had the best story among Heisei Kamen Rider.
Zi-O, Blade, Faizz, and W aren't that bad either.

In Kabuto every rider except one in the show pays a homage to a past Rider. Dead giveaway but Kabuto is a homage to Stronger

Fun fact: the intro and the other songs of kamen Rider kiva were composed by the group "Tetra fang" (a musical group created specifically for the music of the series), of which the main vocalist is Koji Seto (the main actor of the series)
Another really well done and endearing video. Kiva is my favorite opening so I'm glad to see you dig it too. As far as a Heisei series to check out (besides Fourze which, I agree, is great) I'd suggest Den-O if you want a soft boi, Kabuto if you want the opposite of that, and Kiva if you want one of each.
Thanks :) I've been watching a lot of Kiva and loving it! I've been going through Kabuto, and while I like a lot of the action and visual design, it can be hard to get past its 'soap opera' look at times XD. I've only seen a couple episodes of Den-O so far and a few movies that have him central to the plot - overall I like it, but haven't had a chance to really dive in yet.
@@TokuSister Oh yeah. There's a stretch in there of like Faiz, Blade, and Kabuto that is crazy soap opera-ish. Everyone is having misunderstandings and must battle to relieve their angst!

If you want to see the best action ever in Kamen Rider, wizard is the show to watch.
Although his magic spells use a lot of CGI, it looks very nice and cool.
His fighting style is very unique, he only uses kicks and his sword and gun bcs he doesn't want to break his rings.
If you decide to watch Wizard, get ready for a lot of kicks, flips and majestic coat flaps.

There was a magical ritual called the Sabbath that occured during a solar eclipse. In it, a lot of ppl died and gave birth to the monsters of the series,the Phantoms. There were only two survivors, our protagonist Haruto and the girl in the old fashioned dress Koyomi. Koyomi lost her memories in the ritual. The Phantoms' goals are to create new phantoms by making certain ppl called Gates to fall into despair, so it's up to Haruto to give them hope. Of course the storyline will become deeper as you watch but I dun wanna spoil anything.

Decade and Zi-O are the two anniversary Riders and both are basically the two strongest Rider being able to control power of all other Rider and even time and space
Well Decade is more space base while Zi-O is more time base

Great reaction! Imo, Ryuki has the darkest story out of all the Heisei Kamen Riders.
My top 5 Kamen Riders are;
Faiz (mainly because there’s a lot of plot twists in the story)
Blade (awesome suit upgrades, especially Blade’s King Form)
Kabuto (fastest Kamen Rider ever, minimalistic suit designs and it has the most badass fighting scenes in the Heisei Era)
Ryuki ( dark story, battle royal, each Riders has their own goal for winning the Rider War)
W (Double) (You can’t get wrong with Noir themed Kamen Rider, his bike is also my favorite)
Fun fact: Takeru Satoh (Nogami Ryotaro) in Den-O is one of Japan’s highest paid actors nowadays that he barely appears in Kamen Rider movies anymore but due to fans requesting non stop, he finally appeared in 1 KR movie as a cameo recently. He also plays Kenshin Himura in Samurai X live action movies.
Well, Kamen Rider made a him star, as well as Masaki Suda, who played Philip in Kamen Rider W. He hardly does cameos anymore because of scheduling conflict.
Out of the openings Ryuki is still the one I find myself jamming to often. Was one of my first and favorite KR series as well. If morally grey characters and hard life choices are your thing it’s a great one to go with.

There's nothing wrong with finding a balance. Overall, the Heisei (especially later Heisei) seems to be pushing the envelope and trying to elevate the content. There's no denying that the editing and cinematography is better in most of the Heisei's for sure.

For Kamen Rider Ryuki, the opening theme was sang by Matsumoto Rika, aka Satoshi from Pokemon
idk about western culture, but i think you guys prefer heavy story sci fi with so much detail rather than light story fantasy but with some really dark/gore stuff & very emotional moment

Kamen rider decade is the 10th anniversary kamen rider and kamen rider Zi-o is the 20th anniversary kamen rider. They both can use other kamen rider power that came before them.
Decade > Zi-o. Zi-o needs to find his own gimmick and stop riding Decade's coattails!

Zi-O has its own Gimmick though which is The Ride Armour And the ride watch . It's technically like copying the powers of past Heisei but It's very different from Decade where Decade Became the Rider while Zi-O wears an armour with that Riders Theme

Fun Fact: For years many people, me included, thought that Faiz’s suit was modeled after a firefly. However it’s been confirmed to be a shark. Which I find funny mostly due to KR having a lot of bug themes and Faiz was glowing and the only clue to the suit being a shark was the fin on his helmet.

My favorite opening are Den-o, Ex-Aid, Build
I enjoyed the Den-O episodes that I have seen and I SUPER enjoyed the Deno X OOO crossover movie!

I posted this in another channel if you want to last more than a few episodes per season, but this is my take on the series:
Kuuga: A solid series to start and pretty good to jump into. It gets pretty deep overall and the focus on a single rider definitely makes it a pretty clean start.
Agito: Also a very solid series though I would say the weakest visually. The dynamic that you generally enjoy is the perspectives because it delves pretty deep into each character's motivation while having limited intersections until it is well into the story.
Ryuki: Generally not as great on the plot, but the action is solid. The story is often compared to highlander, but the real meat of it is in the characters as it isn't about the ending (it's a deathmatch), but how the characters get there. Long or short, the many riders in the series all have pretty strong motivations and at the end of the day, was it really worth it for them to have participated at all.
555: I would consider this one pretty weak in terms of story and character as far as the premise goes because the story is trying to be similar to a chessmaster's game, but no one really has an endgame and the riders are all various shades of butthole. It's a cool series visually, but if you are trying to find a good story here, you might want to watch another series.
Blade: Probably ranks 3rd on my favorite series list, Blade is definitely weak... for the first 15 episodes. Then the story gets super ridiculous and you follow it into a very strong ending. Characters are generally well plotted (most of them anyway) and the monster system is very well developed.
Hibiki: This one is probably the most easily skipped. In addition to being mostly a nominal Kamen Rider series (it wasn't meant to be Kamen Rider while it was in development), it had a strong premise early on... before the series kind of jumps the shark. It has the most standout designs for rider series as the premise of the show was not based on bug men, but Oni.
Kabuto: Also a good series to jump into, the premise ranks high on my list since it is pretty iconic in its design and the fights are top notch. The characters are not as well developed here, but the story tends to carry pretty well... until the latter quarter of the series when it veers into another direction while still being a decent closer. Definitely good for a first watch since it starts with a bang. As an additional note, while Tendou is often compared to a Gary Stu, the difference between him and the standard is that where a Gary Stu is the answer to most problems, Tendou is often the CAUSE of the conflict and usually doesn't offer a lot to make things better. He is largely a decoy protagonist in many respects as he does not grow in the series, but Kagami does.
Den-O: Also a strong recommendation, Den-O sits somewhere around 5th on my list and is generally known for its likeable characters, spinoffs notwithstanding. The series is well developed and while the plot is not that strong, the series is held together by amazing character development, strong emphasis on interlocking relationships with a focus on earning your happy ending. It is probably the best if you want to end on something good because this is the first Kamen Rider series of the Heisei era where you get a legitimately happy ending.
Kiva: And then we jump to this one... It's... confusing. It juxtaposes the current plot with a past plot that is supposed to link together, but the characters are often caricatures and the development is pretty weak. Visually, this is a powerful series as there is a clear power in the designs and the fights are visceral, but the story itself does leave a lot to be desired.
Decade: Pretty okay. At 30 episodes, it's a fairly short romp and it's an okay way to jump in, but Tsukasa is not a likeable character in his own series. Too much of his trolling behavior just shows that he has a lot of growing up to do and the series tends to not have a lot of lessons carried forward. The episodic nature also hurts the series a lot as none of the different worlds are particularly memorable or in any way reflective of the original series.
W: Probably my 2nd favorite series overall, the premise is strong, the story is tied despite the episodic nature, but probably the best part in it, the characters are all quite strong. The main criticism is that it doesn't have the mega climax compared to the other series, but they actually fix that too with a solid movie that answers some things missed in the series.
OOOs: I'm going to be honest... I didn't really like OOOs. It's strong visually, has iconic characters and has a pretty strong overall plot. But the main character is a loaf. You'll find the series to be driven by everyone else and while it is way to keep things moving, the main character is largely a vehicle to move the plot forward and is not really an agent of his own.
Fourze: Like OOOs, the premise gets a bit weak, but unlike OOOs, it's kind of a flip. Gentarou is an active agent in his own identity, but the side characters aren't as developed. It's great for a light watch, but it isn't too strong if you wanted something deep.
Wizard: Visually, quite impressive and generally a solid plot. That being said, the main character is kind of a block of wood. He's kind of like Tendou, but where Tendou actively feeds the situation to make it funny, engaging or precarious, Haruto... doesn't really do much besides engage the plot.
Gaim: Probably my favorite series overall, the series has strong characters, in insane plot that fits together and a lot of strong visuals. Conceptually quite outlandish, you start to pick up the theme very fast and unlike a lot of my favorite Kamen Rider series, Gaim doesn't really have a dead episode with the exception of those 2 episodes where they do something completely different. It's a wild ride and the spinoffs are not just canon, they are also pretty good micro episodes as well.
Drive: Though captain generic looker is not the first person I would pick for being engaging, Shinosuke is a pretty decent character overall as his character picks up as the series progresses. It has strong character growth and solid series of twists, culminating in a sharp ending. pretty solid overall.
Ghost: Definitely one of the weaker series. Though there are recommendations to give everything a chance, the best way to describe this series is a weak premise backed on a weak character. It certainly is very visually stunning, but it is hard to get invested in the characters when none of them seem to be built with strong characterization.
Ex-Aid: Though it is not on the good side of my list, Ex-Aid tends to be a fan favorite. It has very iconic characters and a fun premise backed by some damn good music. But the plot drags on, characters veer between very enjoyable to outright painful and it is VERY. GADGET. DRIVEN. It gets more enjoyable towards the latter end of the series, but early on, it's kind of hard to get invested in anybody.
Build: Build is a series with some interesting characters, a strong overarching plot and good dynamics. However, its main weakness is pacing. You'll find a lot of things going back and forth with no major plot movements in many places. That being said, it is visually a bonanza as many of the most striking designs come from this series.
Zi-O: As the anniversary series, I am biased as this series is amazing on visual and reference basis. I irrationally love this series for what it is and easily enjoy the characters. That being said, this is a capstone piece that I recommend to be watched LAST. A not though, if you disliked Tsukasa in Decade, you will find him to fit in this series a lot more.
Zero One: Zero one is a strong start to the new era, but it can drag on in places. Characters are generally well written though you may find parts of the plot may drag on, but it is overall a solid series and is also a good choice for a first watch. Like Ex-Aid, the series is very much a gadget driven series. Unlike Ex-Aid, things still hold together quite well.
So there are only two seasons in the current Era of Kamen Rider. The Reiwa Era. And the Seasons that are in the Era are:
Kamen Rider Zero-One - The First of Reiwa
Kamen Rider Saber - The Second of Reiwa and currently ongoing.
Please note that these seasons both got impacted by Covid.
With Zero-One being forced to have five episodes and it's Summer Movie be take away. The Movie comes back as apart of the Story continuing after the season. It also caused the Ending to be like Ex-Aid's. Granted they have the same head writer.
And with Saber having a bad first story Arc. As there were restrictions on the usual Filming locations. But after everything got extremely better. Plus the Head Writer, The guy who wrote Ghost, finally gets to have creative freedom and is making Saber awesome.

Kabuto is my first favorite anti-hero kamen rider before decade & cool AF :3

Love how you describe all the shit that goes on lol. 37:32 OOO doesnt really become all dino just Eiji and the main villain do. The intro does show off his purple combo at some points but thats it since over all the show is still a animal motif. 1:02:24 I mean its not really goofy. Some I mean. They dont really try cause that was just the style of it its not trying to be goofy. Nothign wrong with getting away from being goofy.

I think they did tend to not show the monsters due to
some of them are spoiler bound
(e.g. a friend, part of the organization that helps in the story, relative of the protagonist)
but come on, at least grunts should do right?
My personal favorite is Blade because in that series, the defeated monsters don't just explode. Since they are Undead, they can't die.. but they can be sealed inside cards and their abilities are utilized Mega Man style. There are even card combos which will be very important when they collect more cards
(e.g. Blade's Lightning Sonic is activated via Kick Locust, Thunder Deer and Mach Jaguar)
As for Opening, I'm going to go with Decade since it really tells a lot of of what's gonna happen in the story. There are no monster there but that's the whole point, you gotta watch
for it to make sense. Specially that part where he is surrounded by all the riders.
I highly suggest that you should go for Super Sentai Openings or Ultra Series Openings.

I bought the Ryuki CSM V-Buckle and Dragvisor last month
is hard to call Kamen rider need to be goofy after all between Showa and Heisei is a two different world the first two Kuuga and Agito is the series that try to capture some aspect from Showa era but after that, they give up that idea and become freer, they become farther or even, Heisei's first phase full of drama and more serious except for a few, while the second phase the neo Heisei a little goofier but with some deep series, while the opening not shows it. even if we said it was a children's TV show the problem is most people who enjoy it seem to be adults that include the official fan community and people who buy their toy. that also the reason why super sentai needs to be a power ranger to be aired in America and Ryuki needs to be Dragon Knight because the line of violent in Japanese show is not as tight as a western country. if you want the goofier tokusatsu super sentai is the best option because it's a team show not solo like most riders. well ZIO is anniversary series with he use all rider power and it is technically the peak or the end? of an era because the next is Reiwa. Heisei rider does have a good comedic moment though for me, even in the most serious series, somehow when TOEI tries to make it more child show it brings disaster to the whole season.
For me, the best one is Den-O has so many goofy moments, with some relatable protagonist I mean not so OP or perfect personality MC but because of that, it gives us much live advice and a slice of life moment and tears jerking. while Fourze is alright for me is like a force concept between high school manga and Metal hero, there many touching and goofy moment but... well the highschool part is not so aligned with the rider part. like the principal is some kind of the boss of the evil organization but what I see is like a small-time drug dealer in school. in simple terms is like 'hey let's make a high school drama but for kids! we change the conflict between students with Kamen rider and monster.'. is not necessarily bad but it kind of makes me feel that student turns into a monster is not big deal.

Decade has the ability to travel different worlds it had a motif of like barcode and cards and he has the ability to transform to all other 9 riders plus the AR stands for another rider which is the same rider but different world which is similar to the original world of the original riders but sometimes their name is same as the originals but different persons on how the story of the another riders world
Feels like Decade Explored the what if scenario of the Writers i.e. what if Faiz is a school drama , What if Kuuga had a Sister as a detective and so on

a bit of trivia :
Kamen Rider has been using less and less motorcycle due to some law and permit in Japan. It is getting harder and harder to get the permit to use areas for action movie shootings, especially ones that uses explosions. There's also the law that forbid the use of bike in a "kid's show", so that kids won't copy it.
so instead of bike they promote more and more gadgets, and they use CGI for the explosions.

@@TokuSister yeah he did. I think the first 3 Kamen Rider did. They don't have enough budget to pay stuntman back then (the maintenance of the costumes are already very expensive), even today Kamen Rider's budget is based on how promising they are in selling their merchandise.

but if you wanted to see monster's during Bblades opening Chalice the mantis looking one with the bow is technically one of the series monsters who is only acting as a rider so there was a monster in series
the kamen Rider decade series is a 10 year anniversary of the heisei era (from kuuga to kiva). If you are going to see it, look first at Kamen rider Kuuga, agito, Ryuki, Faiz, Blade, Hibiki, Kabuto, Den o and Kiva, because the story is that there are 9 worlds in which 9 riders were born, (the ones I named you before but with alternate stories to those of the series), so they are joining (which will unleash the end of the main world), so the young Kadoya Tsukasa (who does not remember anything from his past) must become kamen Rider decade and destroy the 9 alternate riders (that's why they call him "the destroyer of worlds")

I like the opening themes for Kamen Rider Agito, Ryuki, Blade, and 555 the most. I tend to like the Rider Chips songs with Ricky. I've seen a few episodes of Kamen Rider Ryuki. It's not what I expected. There are many kamen riders and they're fighting each other. I watched Kamen Rider W because of Itano Tomomi. I was getting into AKB48 at the time. I liked the Queen and Elizabeth song.

I can't say heisei kamen Rider all is for kids. Some of their story is not for kids. Like faiz is so drama story, gaim is dark story and of course Amazon 2016 and 2017 is brutal
