Excellent info! This cut through all the mystery of communications on the bus. Now all you need is to know where each module is and how to access it. Sometimes you have to take the whole dash apart or it's hidden in some crazy places that are real hard to get at!
Ditto on spelunkerd's question. When using a scan tool, the way I understand it is you need to know the PIDs and be able to look at them live and also record them to see which ones are bombing the network or are missing. But you need the OEM diagnostics manual to know which PIDs to use, and maybe even an OEM scanner. I've done that on a Ford Sport Trac when checking the fuel pump circuit. The manual tells you which PIDs to look at and then to verify with a DVM at the connection to be sure there actually is a signal and that it's the same voltage.

Another excellent video. One thing I'm not understanding, when you tap into the communication line at 16:56, it seems you are tapping in parallel with every module on the circuit. So, how do you identify which signal is coming from the module you're interested in? Even though you're tapping into the system at the back of the module, don't you see signals from everybody transmitting? Isn't it like a "party line", where everybody hears the group chatter?

When you have resistance of 180 Ohm accross 6&14 OBD II terminals instead of 60 Ohm what is causing it ?

If the module has to be flashed, can you flash a junk yard module?
