Thank you for taking the time to make this, this was really helpful! How often do you find yourself needing to add oil before it gets too low or below the hatch mark? I'm finding many complaints online about the Jeep Compass burning excessive amounts of oil at a rapid pace and if it's too low, it causes stalling issues in the middle of the road. I experienced the stalling issue on a rental and am curious if you found the 2019 model to have the same problem with the excessive oil consumption/stalling and whether I should invest in one. Thank you!
First off, I would not recommend this vehicle. The 2.4L Multi-Air engine has many years of documented excessive oil consumption issues and is used across multiple different vehicles (not just Jeep Compass). I am currently conducting a 2 year experiment to reduce the oil consumption through the use of Amsoil. During Year One, I ran Amsoil SS 0w-20 www.amsoil.com/p/signature-series-0w-20-synthetic-motor-oil-asm/?zo=10458 and had to add a total of 24 ounces of oil. During Year Two, I ran Amsoil SS 0w-20 and UCL www.amsoil.com/p/upper-cylinder-lubricant-ucl/?zo=10458 and after 9 months so far I have only added a total of 10 ounces of oil. However, I have heard many upon many stories just as you explained.
@@InsaneOil Thank you so much for your detailed response, I truly appreciate it! I ended up deciding not to get the compass, since I read that people had it stall on them on the highway, which is extremely dangerous. Also, apparently there is a class action lawsuit against Jeep/Chrysler regarding this issue. Hope that the oil experiment works in your favor! Again, really thankful you created such a helpful video!
@@InsaneOil how did the experiment go? I have a 18 cherokee, and Ive been using full synthetic 5w20 (Chinese brand). Oil consumption has improved a little bit.
@@CBSInternational From April 2019 to April 2020 I added a total of 24 ounces of oil to maintain the full level. From April 2020 to April 2021, I only added 10 ounces total to maintain my full level. From April 2021 until now (10 months in) I have added no extra oil thus far. When I do my yearly oil change in April, I will send in a sample to the lab again and get the analysis of my oil to get a picture of the health of the engine. This however, I attribute to the use of Upper Cylinder Lubricant in conjunction with Amsoil Signature Series oil.
Thank you for this video. I’ve had this issue before I was aware of the sensor and how it responds to low oil. What do you know, the truck began to hesitate on the freeway / and because of your video I was able to resolve. Thanks
Great video. Explains things very clearly, step-by-step, any novice can follow. Thank you
Thanks for the comment. Good luck with your vehicle service.
I would look at this more as a walkthrough where everything is. The owner's manual clearly states the steps if you want to do it correctly.

Thank you. I follow you from the state of Iraq. I bought such a car from America and shipped it to Iraq. Thank you. I love you.🇮🇶🇮🇶🇮🇶🇮🇶
Thanks for the comment. Make sure you check the oil every month. The engine in this vehicle likes to "use" oil.
@@jonothejester thank you 🇮🇶
@@jonothejester There was a recall on the 2018 model because it consumed oil more quickly.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Very good demonstration and well explained.
Thank you for the comment. Much appreciated.
Great detailed explanation! Thank you.

How about should it be cooled off or can I check it hot? Ty
You can check it either hot or cold. If it is hot, the level may be just slightly higher than if it is cool.
Insane Oil thank you so much. Your video helped me so much and ty for the fast response.
So if the car was about 1 1/4 qt low how did it reach the full line after adding only 3/4 qt?...
That is the magic of Hollywood.
Thanks so much for the tip! Great video

Thank you !! 🙏🏾
Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it.
I wish you had put the Amsoil 0w-20 in the manufacturer’s suggested oil can before placing it in the engine.
I wouldn’t want to encourage the use of a subpar product to people that I value.
Great video 👍🏼
