good morning Morag from northern NSW...... thank you for going back to these type of videos of information on things that grow in the garden...they are wonderful and loaded with knowledge very much appreciated
Thanks Morag! This is my second year growing Turmeric in one spot in my garden. This spot was once a clay based spot which I dug through and topped with home made compost which is something similar to Charles Dowding. It is in a warm spot in my garden with a dark brick wall behind it. I remember someone saying that if you want to break up clay soil, then plant something in it and Turmeric has been excellent. I did not know about the leaves. Can you do a similar video about Galangal? I planted Galangal in the same bed and it has just taken off...all from one single bulb. Simply amazing. Cheers!
I've missed these types of videos from you over the past years! Even though most of them apply to the subtropics and don't work in Tasmania. They're lovely to watch. Sound is incredibly low though
Thank you Morag 😀. I’ve been growing turmeric in pots for years and never knew that the leaves are a wonderful extra resource, other than as chop and drop mulch. As always Morag, thank you for the great information!!
Thanks so much Morag. These are great. Sorry I can't afford your courses. I'm a don't see me in some of your webinar events as I don't have a camera on my computer. Learning every day. Thankyou so much. 🥰💖
Thank you for the VId. Currently growing Turmeric/ginger just started to sprout. Never new the amount of things you could do with leaves is amazing. I will be trying them out.🍽😁
We are happy all your videos are good and full of education. We really like them they teach us a lot from what we see. As permaculture educators, we have one question: How best can we promote it? On videos, we would like to see a video on how to prepare pesticides from the crop; and we would also love to learn more other lessons.
Hello Morag, wonderful short video! I buyTurmeric from the local market, altho it's imported here to the UK. A lot of it's sprouted and I earlier planted it in the greenhouse without any success. We're into the autumn and much cooler days now. What am I doing wrong? And how can I capitalise on all those fresh green shoots? They're only about an inch or two height and on the more shrivelled tubers.. ❤
perhaps a little too cold or dry. First to find a niche it likes, once it begins to grow lots of healthy looking leaves, then you can harvest a few from each plant for using in cooking or other things I mention in the video
Dried turmeric leaves - "daun kunyit" in Malay are a popular culinary herb in Central Asia and Southeast Asia. They can be added to rice, couscous and other grains, as well as to salads and stir-fries. Not heard for tea, but I can imagine it would be great. Anyone else heard about using for this purpose?

Thank youfor for your excellent tutorial always. Freezer the leaves to use in Malaysian and Indonesian recipes, especially the famous Rendang recipe.
Thanks for the great tip!

Great to know this.
Do you grow turmeric in your gardens Carolyn
Interesting. Has anyone tried dehydrating them to add to homemade tea blends?
