Hi Amy, thanks very much for this video, very helpful. Just setting up plan for a project , have no experience yet. One question, how to backup all the data from the planner premium ? This is important if someone deleted data , or whatever ... Then I need possibility to restore from previous version . Also it is important to store or print the notes which are posted in the teams notes section . Thanks Peter
Finally! A how to use Planner and Planner premium tutorial that makes sense and is suuuuuuper helpful. Well done Amy! You did an awesome job of explaining how to Project Manage using these MS tools. Just wondering if you provide any services for us to engage with you on a 121 basis to help us build out best practices for Project Managing using MS tools?
Hi Amy! This is a fantastic overview of the new product. Do you have any insight as to how this works if some team members do not have the premium version of Planner? Can the owner of the project have the premium version and still assign tasks to team members who are working with just the basic planner tool?
Glad that you enjoyed it! A Plan owner can have a premium license and other team members can still access tasks on just the basic version. They will not have access to premium features. I do cover this in my comparison video, the chapter is non-premium access. See the link below! th-cam.com/video/mQF1hYL-UZE/w-d-xo.html
Hi Amy, thank for this tutorial. I wanted to ask if there is a way to generate reports in planner premium, for example, I have allotted 8 hours for a task and the task actually took 14 hours to complete. how can I see these differences and how can I check the total hours spent during the project.
Thank you so much for this presentation. I have a question: if I wanted to associate a monetary value to each activity to track the cash flow, could I do it? If yes, how? If not, how?
I appreciate the walk-thru video - seeing what Premium can do is helpful. I'm trying to find a tool to use across multiple teams within my department. Is there a Portfolio and Program aspect to Planner Premium? (I need an executive dashboard as well). I manage many projects, that have to share resources (capacity planning needed across projects). I need to have ability to define at what level the board view shows (I currently use one Trello card per Project, not Task. Tasks are in Checklists). The board view you show is chaotic unless you are managing just a few simple projects. Any ideas? This Premium seems to be relying on the dependency feature to sell the upsell from basic Planner - it lacks many features.
Amy, how do you view checklist items when you have assigned a task to a team member. Currently when I assign tasks to team members, the checklist items aren't in view.
Thank you for the video - we use Premium. As an old and still MS Project Desktop and online user - I miss the ability to only use the kb, less mouse - is this possable?
Can you please provide guidance on the enterprise resource management associated with Plan 5 premium. Assume an organization has a resource manager and have 10 project manager running their own plans. How can resource be assigned by a resource manager, prioritize etc. etc. if there is a conflict. Can a project manager request for a resource is another question. The planner does show the plan elements. How can we see the actuals and how a timesheet can be reported here. I.e a resource confirms the tasks is completed and where can he mention the efforts as actual and send for approval by the project manager acceptance.
Thank you for the comment, the recurring task feature is not available in Premium Plans but it is available in the Basic Plan templates. On a comparison of these two apps that I found, this feature is unfortunately, not marked as 'coming soon,' but if you would like to see it then I would recommend sending feedback. You are not the only one, so the more feedback that they get on this feature the better!
Thank you for the question, users on your team will need a paid license to access premium plans. Basic plans are included in the business 365 licenses.
Team members can be assigned tasks in Premium Plans even if they have a basic license. They are able to view these tasks and mark them as complete, but they will have limited access to features.
A nice looking tool but not usable for serious work.. any team member can delete any task from the plan, there is no recycle bin. The task creator does not even get notified of the task removal. I just tested that last month. Good luck with that !
Oh dear! I am sorry to hear that you had that experience. If you did like other features then you could provide feedback to Microsoft for improvement suggestions.
can't even do basic styling of the text in the notes and comments. how embarrasing. so it's still a joke. MS has a huge advantage over Jira because of the integration with the MS 365 eco system. Yet their product team seems clueless.

Was the "Repeat" / recurring task option removed from this version of Planner? I could not figure out how to make a task repeat

@@officeskillswithamy Thank you - will do that!
@@Rodriguez.JorgeAntonio great!
How do i convert my plans to Premium?
Does everyone that uses the planner board have to have premium if you create a premium plan?

@@officeskillswithamyCan ressources know their assigned tasks from a premium plan if they are only on basic? (They don’t need full overview of plan)

I am using Planner Premium

This is way too vague with no actual verbiage or examples to provide clarity. Anybody can open, look at basic boxes and click around. Waste of time.
I'm sorry that you didn't find it helpful, others have provided great feedback on this video.

I agree, the notes should have richer editing. I would suggest that you provide this feedback to Microsoft to vote for this feature.
