    OMG to have a fabric selection like this... it's the absolute dream! most fabric stores here in the Netherlands are pretty small so I end up ordering from webshops where they often times don't even have this many choices! I'm definitely jealous hahaha

      In Amersfoort and other city’s there wil be markets with fabric.. it’s awesome and a lot of the time they have lower prices and sales:) and a lot of choices :) hope there will be one soon, with covid going on they where cancelled. I agree that ordering online is the best option.. do you know vandriessenstoffen. Nl ? They have a lot! And for affordable prices :)

    Great video! I’m looking to make a great kilt for hiking/bushcraft, and there is a surprising amount of unintuitive things in the fabric industry. As someone who has never done anything sewing related, this is one of the few videos that is actually helpful.

    I'm sooooo jealous!
    Where I'm from we only have small family owned fabric stores that don't really have much variety. I would love to have a joann here - but stores of that size don't make sense here because sewing isn't very popular 😭

    I have never been to a fabric shop which tells you the exact fibre content and care instructions. You have to rely on the previous person putting the fabric they picked up back in the cotton section for example.

    • @MaddieLynn
      @MaddieLynn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh wow! That’s kind of crazy. I know bigger fabric stories don’t have all the details on the bolts, so that is the nice thing about Joann’s and Hobby Lobby (especially for beginners)

    I love Craft stores and crafting. Ever sit and look around the craft store and just enjoy all the beautiful colors. 🐣Especially with all the spring stuff starting to appear. ☘️So inspiring. So many things to be made, so many possibilities. I just started making walkthrough shopping videos and I’m considering making more. I just feel a little awkward filming in the store. Do you have any tips for filming in the store? I hope we can support and learn from each other! 🌷🐝🌺

    Are you allowed to pick your own patterns out of the drawer? I've never been in a fabric shop (in the UK) where you can mess about in the drawers! My local fabric shop lets me NOW but only because they recognise me, and they are sometimes v busy. If they're quiet, they prefer to get the patterns for me.

    • @MaddieLynn
      @MaddieLynn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    • @MaddieLynn
      @MaddieLynn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends what kind of curtain you want! If your looking for something airy that lets light through a polyester chiffon would be good, otherwise a lightweight cotton would allow you a solid color or print while blocking a bit of light

    How does quilter's cotton act differently than apparel cotton? Is it the thread count or stiffness?

    • @MaddieLynn
      @MaddieLynn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Pretty’s sure it’s just for marketing and differs in name only, but some quilters cotton is a more study weave

    • @strawberryemery
      @strawberryemery 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can definitely use both interchangeably. Some brands will be stiffer than others, so won’t drape as nicely if you’re making something flowy.
