I play in and around KC, so wind is a factor pretty much all the time. I bag a Mutant for every round because it's so reliable in any conditions - dead calm or 25mph winds, it flies about 250 feet and dives to the ground, every time. Personally, I love the way it feels in the hand, so it's a no-brainer in the bag for me.
@@ronjones-6977 Oh, not at all! The fun of the Mutant is learning to trust - and then exploit - its overstability. I've just gotten familiar enough to know how much anhyzer I need to get the most distance possible consistently. That way I can throw it the same distance every time!
I was looking for something a little longer than a Pig for 280-310 foot side arms. Was very disappointed how understable the Kaxe was as I turned it over ever time in the wind. Maybe this could do the trick.
Personally i love how it feels in the hand. I grabbed one from one of the first runs and it has been in the bag ever since. I used to bag a justice, and an a2 but sometime the hookup was hit and miss. With the mutant it is so dependable.
Mutant is one of my go to utilities. Been throwing it for a few months and it’s great. Great disc to use to shape touchy upshots especially with a forehand. Good review guys
Well picked up one of these barely used, it's basically exactly what I want it to be, something when I can rip on it like 9,10,11 ish speed into a headwind on a fairly big flex line, it will comfortably fight out. I actually love this for heavy headwind c1x putts too just cause it doesn't care about wind.
So I got a double-stamped neo mutant in my mystery box this year, and have been using it on and off in field work. I am now using it for forehands, specifically getting around blind corners. The bottom edges of the disc have become very roughed up and splintery (if that's the right word), and it is starting to hurt for the forehand.
Played a tourney in 35mph winds. My adder forehands we're flipping over on hyzer. Straight headwind and I reached for my mutant for a 200 ish backhand slight turnover lol.
What!!? You don’t like the straight edged rim profile? I think that’s one of the coolest things about this disc. It’s one of my favorites and I always have one in my bag.
No where near a jarn a jarn is a zone basically I just started bagging the regrinded jarn and I just had a bit more easy distance the a get freaky zone imo the jarn is prolly more reliable and easy to throw but i love my zone
I guess the world got their faster Prodigy A1 lol 😂 But seriously, the Mutant is faster then it’s flight numbers. Not as Overstable as a Tilt. Lot more workable 👍🏻
I was talking to Stevie Rico last week and he suggested I try Legacy's Cannon.(14, 5, -3, 3) He had one that was only 156 grams and I thought that would be fine. Oh boy! It flew just like this Mutant but got way out there really quickly. I throw it full-tilt (pun intended) with a full 45-degree anhyzer angle and it EASILY comes back and lands almost vertical at 300 feet. It's fun hearing everybody in the group laugh after I release it, but then "wtf, it's coming out of that?" I might even be able to throw a sidearm with this thing.
I started disc golf last year and the deflector was the overstable mid range I bought from my local shop. I originally thought it was too overstable for me but now that thing saved me out of so many heavy wooded areas.
@@FoundationDiscGolfReviews for sure. The Justice definitely feels better in the hand for me. Plus the variety of plastics definitely help make the decision for me
"First shot is a little bit of a grip lock" Then rethrow it? It's my number one issue with disc golf reviews. Throw what you feel is the perfect shot, don't say you threw it bad and still talk about how it flew.. Or throw a cut with 2-3 shots for each throw kind so the viewer doesn't have to take your word on a single shot that you may have shanked...
This is kind of what's wrong with disc golf in general actually. I see people ask questions like "what's the most stable run of ***" and people will answer like "the 4th runs are slightly more overstable than the 12 runs and less stable than the limited special run in *** plastic". It just drives me nuts that these opinions are derived from people probably throwing a disc once or never and making these claims like all these discs and runs are SO vastly different...
I like the feel, and thought this would be a great flick disc, but it does not come back over nearly as quickly as I thought it would for me. It’s way too beefy for me backhand.
Thanks for the review! I’ve thrown Tilt and Mutant. Mutant went about 50 ft farther than Tilt. Need quite a bit of power to throw Mutant. I see it as a great utility disc.
frickin nose up on that roller thats why it did what it did silly ive got babs that I can roll and those are infinitely more overstable than these mutants alls u gotta do is get nose down and right angle
Lower part is very similar to Runway, but the top in Runway is round. Roundway has been built so that it has a round top. In the middle/outside edge is sharp and straigh lines on the bottom from the sharp edge. Mutant has a straight line as a shoulder where Runway has a round shoulder. The outside edge or wing is vertically straight where Runway is round. Bottom is similar like I wrote earlier.
The Streamline Runway is almost identical and it came out years ago. Mutant is more OS, but not by a ton, they feel and look pretty much the same though. Check one out!

250? You must have a cannon for an arm. That thing is a true meat hook.

Where do you like to play in KC. I just went to WW and Rosedale

Nice review as always boys! Definitely my go-to review channel. (Closest to my game and arm speed). Keep em coming! P. S. GO TARHEELS!!!
I bag one in an approach slot. Like a longer more stable zone. Love it!
Longer more stable zone, I use mine as a longer zone-os ;)

I love it. I’m use it for about everything inside of 200
Got one in my bag. Definitely a utility disc, I use it maybe 1-2 times a round depending on course but it’s great.

How does it compare to the Deflector by MVP
Another disc that is very similar to the Mutant is the Streamline Runway. Highly recommend!
Love that disc!

Got a splice like 3 weeks ago and still haven’t had to throw it yet. Bummed about it but also it’s a good thing 😂
I got the previous run in exact same colors. It is called the cyber truck of midranges.
I have one on the way I'm hoping it can handle a forehand. My most overstable midrange rn is a crystal buzz os and it's still way too flippy
"This then that then that then that instead of like that" .... "nailed it" 🤘
More disc reviews there awesome
Have you guys tried the legacy discs badger?!?!?
What!!? You don’t like the straight edged rim profile? I think that’s one of the coolest things about this disc. It’s one of my favorites and I always have one in my bag.
you can refer to the shape of the edges in terms of the Bevel or it has a beveled edge
I bag one and love it. Crazy overstable, but great when you need it!
Love this disc. So useful.
Review the Terminal Velocity Ursus next. Sweet justice like midrange but has glide
Big question for the new OS discs.. can you throw it upside down and get a more traditional flight?
Loved everything but the hoodie
How does it compare to the Innova Croc?
polygonal is the word
Just ordered one. Very interested to throw it
I picked one of these up and ngl my lucid justice is a straight glidey disc in comparison 😂
Love you Hunter, but please... "Like a Tilt" ???
Thanks for the review. Convinced me not to get it :D Far too overstable for me to have any use for it.
That’s fair! Not a disc for everyone. Very much a utility disc
I would love to see a Kastaplast Järn review/comparison to this.
The järn is slightly less stable and slightly more glidey. "Slightly" being the key word.
No where near a jarn a jarn is a zone basically I just started bagging the regrinded jarn and I just had a bit more easy distance the a get freaky zone imo the jarn is prolly more reliable and easy to throw but i love my zone
Great review! Go Heels!
Please review The axiom pyro it's sooo underated and so good 4hand good for wind good for backhand good for All players
Trevor probably won't like bc it really shines when thrown 4hand flat or a little Annie with so power like a star firebird
It’s what the roc3 should be. It’s no mutant or justice just a very good overstable mid you can rely on in wind.
@@lankstasdglife3973 sounds about right it's not deep like a roc either Nice n flat

idk how anything can be more overstable than a deflector, I suppose I have never tried to throw it full force but good lord is that thing a meat hook.

This is a higher rating than I would have expected. IT looks so ugly but I hear nothing but good things about them.
@foundationsiscgolfreviews I think y’all would be surprised on how great/better Legacy’s disc lineup is compared to someone like discmania.
The Badger from Legacy is an awesome underrated very very overstable midrange.

The tilt doesn’t even go 200 ft before it crashes down though
This midrange goes much farther, right?
Reminds me of a Yikun crossbow
Beeenwanting to try that out
Your description of the rim sounds like it’s a midrange driver
Very surprised y’all don’t know anything about the Badger from Legacy disc. The Badger is probably the best very overstable midrange.
Lol, so surprising. Who is Legacy disc? Do they even sponsor a pro?
The word is angular
I have a mutant, my nick name for this disc is - dig me out the shit disc
They should have named this disc the polygon.
I heard trevor loves Duke basketball
The rim has a “chamfered” edge
