I usually hate superheroes, but, that was good.
In my opinion, Madagascar 4 isn’t totally necessary because Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted ended on a high note, especially with the animals choosing the life of adventure with the circus, instead of being trapped in captivity in the Central Park Zoo. It also finished Alex’s character development of learning to be less selfish and embrace new changes in life that allows him to realize that there is more in life than the Central Park Zoo.

until one day, a UFO crash landed in a forest, and an alien girl comes out of the ship, called Loona. Alex and his friends discover she can talk to animals, and must get her back home as a sinister alien hunting agency called B.A.D. (Bureau of Alien Detection), lead by Agent X, is hunting her. Agent X saw two aliens as a child and no one believed in her. In the ending, the two aliens are revealed to be Loona’s parents, who then take their daughter home and thank the animals for protecting her.

Personally, I'm glad there isn't a 4th movie. Because I feel there's no organic way to continue the story.
Take 3 for example, the film culminates with the heroes returning to New York Zoo which was always their goal only to realize they have moved on from it. But getting to the Zoo in the first place makes sense since they hadn't gone there before. And the gimmick of being a travelling circus complements that. You have both the endpoint and a natural reason for getting there that complements the story. But how do you do that for 4? If the endpoint is "the characters realize they have different places where they belong", how would that plot even be set up? The squad are already together and have travelled to the wild before in 1 and 2. Why would they leave their Circus life to do that and what would really be enough to make the characters want to retire like that? Especially as 2 showed that places like Africa can have spots for all the characters to relax in together anyway. So any solution that comes up is going to feel inconsistent and contrived.
Something like this works better for Toy Story 4 because that series established that toys can have different paths and lives. Like, living with one kid is great until that kid grows up or whatever. Living in a daycare or fair has its own set of pros and cons. So it makes sense for characters to want different paths, there are different ways of getting to said paths so a story is far more natural

Wasn't the reason the movie franchise is in limbo is because the Spin-off didn't make all its money back and was the catalyst for Dreamworks to lay a bunch of people off? Like cmon man, you can't just glance information like that because you don't care about the film.

I actually don't want the characters to split up in the fourth movie. The whole point of Madagascar franchise (at least the way I see it) is to have these different animals from different places coming together to be friends and go on adventures together.
And wasn't the moral of the first movie that it didn't matter where the four main characters were as long as they were together? Having them split up kind of flies in the face of that.

I’m so upset about this, the Madagascar franchise was/is my favorite. It would have been really nice to have a new movie or at least a good series.
I read on Wikipedia that in April 2017, that Tom McGrath the director of the film series said that there was stuff in the works but that nothing was set in stone but that there might be a part 4. It's been almost 4 years later since then and i kinda feel like DreamWorks hasn't really touched on a part 4 to Madagascar. But maybe it's for the best that there's no Madagascar 4. I mean DreamWorks' films have been lacking after 2016.

After Chris Rock's controversial joke about Jada Pinkett Smith at the 2022 Oscars, I can't picture Madagascar IV being a thing.
No film has given 10 year-old me more hype throughout all its runtime than Madagascar 3
Its sad we didn’t get a Madagascar 4, I think 5 ways Madagascar could come back. 1. They could do the original idea of friendship and distancing themselves in retirement. 2. They could do a sequel focusing on a new animals going on a new adventure possibly into Madagascar, or doing what the Jurassic Park did with Jurassic World aka Rebranding, a Bear could be the Alex type of character, a Moose could be the Melman type of character, a wolf for the Marty type of character, and a Bison for Gloria, and could take place in a new zoo somewhere, maybe somewhere in Texas, and the story could be (“first off I want to address that it still takes place in the Madagascar Universe and technically still a sequel but with Rebranding “) I think the title should be called “Alaska” taking place years later around 2025 with the Madagascar squad being retired and living the rest of their days in Kenya, the Central Park Zoo has been closed since after the events of Madagascar 3 which takes place in 2005, the zoo opens again in 2015 after being closed for 10 years, being renovated and remodeling some of the parts they open with a brand new animals, Arthur the Cougar who is the main attraction and icon of the Zoo basically taking Alex’s place of being King of New York, Bailee the Bison who takes the place of Gloria, Bradley the White-Tailed Deer who takes the place of Marty, and Bruce the Moose who takes the place of Melman, they would grow up in this new zoo and years later in 2025 well I guess the plot of it would be the same as the first movie but with a couple of changes, I guess the themes could be “Being Replaced” since the zoo plans to replace the 4 animals along with other characters such as Bill & Phil who are Beavers, and Marley the Wolverine and recovered enough profits to gain a new Lion, a new hippo, a new giraffe, and a new zebra to return to the glory days from the past, and planning to send the animals to a different low quality zoo that they fear, so they try escaping and trying to find a new home, who are being sent to Alaska but have to be transported by a truck from New York City to San Francisco and then being transported by Plane to Alaska but soon something goes wrong and similar to what happened to Lightning McQueen when being taken to California they get lost, but the 7 animals get lost in The middle of New Mexico and each are alone traveling deeper into the desert finding themselves in a deep hidden plateau surrounding by all sides by Canyons and having a lake, they find each other but also discover a small kingdom that inhabits the isolated like valley consisting of Farmer like White-Tailed Rabbits, grazing deer, desert Squirrels, along with Pronghorns and the leader being a Camel who apparently was another animal that escaped from a zoo successfully from Mexico, the plot would go on and Arthur the Cougar would go through the same savage phase Alex had during the first movie due to hunger, “But also another theme of this not being shamed for what you are and accepting what you are & also making mistakes, along with Dwell and Regret” because Arthur is a Cougar, he is a carnivore, he cannot help it with his diet, and shouldn’t be ashamed for what he is, but also learning to adapt and making mistakes like trying to eat his friends, the group decide to adapt to the new climate and habitat and the story taking more of a Spaghetti Western type of tone and theme, while Arthur is dwelling on his mistake and talks with Bradley the Bear about his mistake and trying to fix his mistake and move on, but there would also be another conflict, is that a group of mountain lions are nearby and try recruiting Arthur into their pack, soon later near the end of the movie after defeating the Mountain Lion Pack they decide to take their leave along with the Camel who is named Marco and decided to begin to plan their journey to Alaska with the movie ending.
I've loved this series, I watched the first one when I was only 3 maybe 4, then I watched the 2nd one when I was 4 or 5. And finally, the one that blew me away, the 3rd one this movie is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I watched when was 6. I can remember this series like I watched it yesterday ( yes I still remember the first one). I also watched the the penguines of Madagascar, but this one didn't feel as powerful as the other ones. Anways, When I was little I always wanted to see a 4th one, but now that in bigger i relize that the ended of the 3rd one was so powerful there doesn't need to be a 4th one. But I will always love this serious.
Kinda glad they stopped was already forced as hell when they suddenly felt like they had to escape africa would be weird seeing them ditch another pad they truly felt at home for no real reason.
The 4th movie is having restrictions conflicts or something like that, and I guess DreamWorks is just releasing other projects right now while trying to fix the problem at the same time (or just having like a hiatus situation); perhaps that's why it's getting delayed so much.

I felt the 3rd film, especially the ending wrapped the series up well.
I remember seeing it later in the day after my last day of 11th Grade, and I had a great crowd.

This movie hasn’t been cancelled. As a matter of fact, Tom McGrath has stated that “there are things in the works” back in 2017. For all we know, the movie COULD be in development as I’m typing this. Emphasis on “could”. There is no confirmation that the movie has been outright cancelled.

Agreed. I think this movie is put on hold due to the pandemic and the major financial setbacks that it has caused. But I don't think DW will abandon this project. There is money to be made with with a 4th Madagascar movie.

Damn... I No Joke Just rewatched all of the Madagascar Movies and thought about, how amazing another one would be and the Fact, that it was cancelled Made me kinda sad...

Like Disney brave 2 was cancelled after Disney thinking meridas story was complete and that she didn’t really need a sequel!
I wasn't a big fan of the third one but the second one in the first one were so amazing!
I wouldn't mind a fourth one
The good thing is:
Madagascar isn't actually cancelled at all.
Its being put on hold and rumors say it could be in active development.
Considering Shrek and also Kung Fu Panda are getting a next sequel -
it is only logical for Madascar to get the next one, right?

Honestly, I thought puss in boots 2 and the croods 2 were never gonna come out, and then eventually they did, I could see a Madagascar 4 showing up someday, especially since number three just doesn’t feel like a fitting end by itself
If Dreamworks makes a 4th they need to make a female lemur for King Julien and send them along with Morice and Mort back to Madagascar
Fun fact ring tail lemurs like julian have a matriarchal society sooooo if we got a female lemur she might dom julian
julien already found a (arguably questionable but) mate in a form of a bear so they wont change that out
If you didn't watch all Hail King Julien , there was an episode where Julien opens a portal to the multiverse where he meets and falls in love with a female King Julien. In another episode, he falls in love with his bodyguards sister.
My theory of madagascar 4 is I think thats where alex and his friends journeys end, because their home was the circus. But will have a new cast and heroes. It will be called madagascar 4 andrews adventures.

I remember being so shocked when I saw the box office for the third one. I always thought Madagascar was just a very mediocre series. Not bad, but not anything ground-breaking. I was wrong, people evidently loved it
madagascar 3 was okay for me, thought, but madagascar 1 was an incredible movie considering the themes they explored in it (for a kid’s movie). i mean, how many kid movies do you know that explicitly say “one of our protagonists wants to eat his friends”

Wasn't much a fan of Madagascar 3. It was like the Ice Age 4 of Madagascar.
So I don't personally think no sequel was that big a loss.
In the first movie their crates said they were originally gna be shipped to Africa where thir species live.
And then they gt there in the second one. And the third they left and joined a circus. Lol it confused me. And wheres the people? The circus was run by animals only 😂

I don't know about y'all but I absolutely hated Madagascar 3. It felt like a completely different thing and it was annoying. The first one was one of my favorite movies as a kid and the third just completely shattered my dreams of having a good 3 movie series.
