She looks stunning again. Impressive, and very much the fighting ship.
Always a beautiful sight to see this ship and pray all the past crew members are smiling 😊
My father in law was on that ship in the late 40’s I wish he was here to see this ..
Welcome Home!!🎉That’s one large ship, the crew look so tiny lol
Husband &I went to see the ship in dry dock with a tour
Breathtaking, magnificent, took your breath away
My Dad was on the New Jersey in WW II. He was a radio man and he would tell me stories of climbing the radio tower when there was a problem with the radio. Such a majestic ship. Thank you for this video!
A Majestic Jersey Girl.
Sill a proud and majestic ship. I wish the younger generations would take the time to learn what these ships and the men who manned them mean to the freedoms we enjoy in our great crountry. I hope that I can, someday, get the chance to walk her decks.
Despite its a bit off colour, it looks as magnificent as ever and is always a sight to behold!
I was so disappointed I couldn't go see her in dry dock, but it's wonderful to see her out in the water again. I've loved the Iowa class BB's since I was a child, and it never gets old seeing one of them!
Excellent, perfect, beautiful. Thank you for uploading.
The United States Navy is proud to have 4 Battleships on standby !!!!!
Beautiful ship. I love walking up the bow: it’s like walking up a hill. Our ancestors sure knew how to build a Battleship🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Isn't the teak deck amazing? If the teak is still there. You know they use teak because it isn't slippery when wet.
@@garymartin9777 yes, and when you get to the stern, I always think you could play tennis or basketball back there. The size of the ship is not as readily apparent until you get to the stern and can appreciate the lol acreage.
Even though she's not running under her own power she DID leave a wake from her bow. Awesome to see her moving
Wow what a beast!
I wish I was there
How true!
I love heavy battle ship !!! Was so beautifull ship !!! Wow ❤️ all her !!!
I had hoped to see Ryan waving from the bridge! Great video of a great ship.
Beautiful ship. Four Battle museum ships left. USS Iowa is preserved in San Pedro California, USS New Jersey is preserved in Camden New Jersey, USS Missouri is preserved in Pearl Harbor Hawaii, and Wisconsin is preserved in Norfolk Virginia. San Diego has the USS Midway aircraft carrier as a museum.
There’s 4 more battleships preserved. Texas Alabama North Carolina and Massachusetts
Those are just the 4 Iowa class.
I can't believe how well they take care of her! I was a boatswainsmate in the Navy and the rust is a constant problem!
It's hard to keep a ship looking good!
It also helps that she's in fresh water, as many ships preserved in the Great Lakes can attest (the zebra mussels, though...ugh!)
She looks great
We have the best Navy in the whole world...period.
Son buques majestuosos donde ellos van va la historia es pura historia !!!!
Thanks for this coverage! Hope the rest of the berthing process went smoothly.
Wow
She can be described in a word. Majestic.
WOW! Welcome home!
1 badass ship 🚢
Awesome Site!@@@
USA,USA!
BEAUTIFUL!!! 🇺🇲❤️🙏
Those big gun with the latest technology shells makes her even stronger.
They still are the strongest most awesome ships in the world!!!
I wondered how tug boats could move something that big. . . Big tug boats! I did not realize they get that big. That's what I get for living inland.
Such an impressive site although sad that the tugs are like pall bearers carrying her off to a final resting place.
You shoud see the ones for ocean service, like the ones used to tow offshore drilling rigs around. Those are big 'uns.
not surprising they get big considering there are cargo ships multiple times heavier then the largest super carriers that may occasionally need assistance from tug boats
A floating Monument !!!!
Wow😍
Welcome Home
1940s tec an still looks good.
I'm a Jersey girl. I'm in my sixties and she looks better than me!
P.S., my father was a WWII Navy man.
A fresh coat of paint and you'd look great too!
Recall Arizona ❤
It's sad that they aren't still sailing defending our country!!!
A battleship has to be respected wherever she goes!!!
Pretty much obsolete these days. The only thing that they are good for is fighting alien space ships trying to take us over.
I had the privilege of watching the New Jersey fire her guns broadside while in Viet Nam from our flight deck aboard the USS Hancock. Very impressive
GO BIG N !🤠!
Wonder if those big guns still work?
Lots of marks on the gunnels. Are they going to be painted back in Camden?
Yes, they're going to paint the above water sections there.
Totally bad-ass.
It's always good to see a fresh coat of paint be fucked up with in the first day of it going back....this is why they need to have the engines avaliable when needed.
Is the Hull getting painted?
I'm. Carroll smeltzer. My. Dad. Donald. Smeltzer was. On. The. USS. New. Jersey from. 1965. To. 1972 I. Have. The. Jacket. He. We're. On. The. Ship. He. Was. On. Deck. Divion. ❤❤❤
She might be an old girl but she's still a stunning lady
When they tow the ship, is there still a captain on board?
To think the majesty and shear beauty of the IOWA class were replaced with satellites and drones is nauseating . Why were the barrels removed from the Phalanxes ?
Supurb camera work.
Thank you ABC. This will NEVER be B-roll!
Big boat
She's so beautiful we got to see her in Dry Dock. If they really wanted to make some money with her they should get her running again and then offer Harbor Cruises she would be sold out every day
The navy will not allow the ship to be moved under its own power…
@@GlennBalent-nq7rh I didn't think the Navy owns the USS New Jersey anymore
She certainly is beautiful, not quite as good as BB61 but I am an Iowan an very biased.
Imagine if they used those tug boats on the ship that took out the bridge
Done that. Now what?
Can just imagine that beauty sailing at 33 knots in the South Pacific. What a sight. I saw the Missouri and New Jersey docked at Long Beach in the late 80’s early 90’s. Was able to go on the Missouri to see the memorial to the treaty signing ending war with Japanese. Couldn’t get on the New Jersey. What a site, those 2 behemoths, side by side. 🇺🇸👍🏻👏🏻✅⭐️🇺🇸🫵🏼

Can 16" ammo be sourced?
Nope, none has been produced for decades.

A shame She can't fire off a broadside. Not real ammo, oc course
God they got her trimmed good look at the water line compared to the paint. Dead level.
Is it me or it is in better shape than Admiral Kuznetsov?
Of course it is the Russians basically stole that thing from Ukraine when it was still fitting out with no shipyards or plans on how to maintain it long term without Ukraine.
This old ship would make a good bridge dolphin.
Looks small.....
Is the New Jersey being put back in service?
doubt it pretty sure the spare barrels have been cut up, sold of or been left exposed to the elements without those the ships existing barrels are probably only good for firing a few hundred shots each at best assuming there's still ammunition stockpiled that hasn't degraded...... That won't really be worth the cost of reactivating the thing and essentially training up an entire new crew to operate an 80 year old vessel.
it'd also be a massive pr win for an enemy force if they somehow succeed in sinking one of America's battleships.
Mighty Mo!
no bro !
Wrong ship!
big not Black Dragon. Mighty No is the Missouri
Big J
Where is this?
MURICA
Bring her back and sisters, magnificent 7,the Iowa, jersey,Missouri,Wisconsin, the Massachusetts, Alabama And n.carolina, and watch Russia and China go brown trout fishing.theres no match for them
Could the navy be saying we might need you again maybe?
Was she moving under her own steam it looks like nothing is pushing her
Don't mess with the US
should have brought all of the decommissioning crew back to sail this...
This is one part of History that the Left will never take down . Respect the Battleship New Jersey and all that sailed on her.
I am a navy vet, I lean left, and respect our military. No need to politicize everything.
@@mollybell5779 But your not even in the middle . That says a lot .
The USS New Jersey was supposed to be moored at Bayonne NJ. A politician ruined that.
should be recommissioned and used
Why didn't she steam back under her own power?
Cause they legally can't as part of their agreement with the Navy. Plus it's been 30+ years since the engines were last used and wouldn't work without replacing stuff anyway.
KEEP HER OUT OF THE WATER. THE NEXT GENERATION WILL NOT CARE AS MUCH. 35 USS TEXAS IS IN THE SAME DAM BOAT.
Terrible, if I were the Battleship New Jersey I wouldn’t go back to Camden !
what do you mean?
That battleship is probably the highlight and the best thing in the whole town
With all my due respects, The honorable, historical City of Camden New Jersey, in 1940 belonged to the Historical City of Philadelphia, and it has been Honored by the visit of oath making mens, like Presidents, Marines Captain, Marines, and many others, mens with respect and no racialist psychological problems, So the next time, you make your comments about the historical City of Camden, I’ll report it to FBI agency and press charges for defamation against a Honorable historical City of the United state of America, for the discriminational act of racialism against 71 thousand citizens of The Honorable Historical City of Camden New Jersey. So now if you excuse me I would like to continue watching the honorable return of Honorable hero BB 62 to his Honorable Home of Camden New Jersey.
What a shame the stripped her of the ability to power herself but I understand why.
It take a lot of time to light off the boilers and bring the battleship under full steam. As Ryan has often said, keeping the engines in a mothballed state of preservation is better for the ship.
@@andrewe4277 Better for the ship an safer for the rest of us lest a fool try to fire up the boilers and take her for spin.
NEW JERSEY IS IN LOS ANGELES AS A MUSEUM
Someone Give a Page 13 to Chief Boats in 1st DIV for Not Painting the Hull........LOL. That's what makes me Proud to be a US Navy Ret Veteran....... "Fair Winds and Following Seas".... Last time i stepped on her decks was in 1983.... I was not stationed on her but "Bob Hope USO" ... During Beirut, Lebanon Multinational Peace Keep Force.
PS tell the Skivie Waver to Tighten up them Flags....... They are Touching the Deck
