Just for your knowledge.
There were differences in historical writing in the Netherlands which did not mention that they actually colonized Indonesia and that there was forced labor for the Indonesian people and then brought our crops to the Netherlands for 350 years. (They covered up the real history that happened in Indonesia) but instead said they (the VOC who had been taken over by the Dutch kingdom) only traded in Indonesia.
There was also difference in the recognition of Indonesian independence by the Dutch goverment, in Dutch version said that Indonesian independence was on December 27, 1949, but in the end on July 14, 2023 the Dutch government officially through its prime minister "Mark Rutte" recognized our independence on August 17, 1945.
This is a real historical fact and right now Indonesia has good relations with the Netherlands.

This parade happened is in the early of the 17th morning before the ceremony held where Putri Ariani sang. Putri sang almost at the end of the ceremony. But, Putri does not sing every year at this ceremony. The singer is chosen by the committee of the ceremony (don't know how, or commonly chosen because famous/happening recently). Before hand, this tradition (pop singer/pop music/dangdut, traditional music of Indonesia, echoed at Central Ceremony by government) is new thing.
These event (parade and ceremony where Putri was there) is yearly held by the Central Government.
The ceremony is really prepared from a month before. The people/participants of the ceremony are selected and chosen strictly from every region of Indonesia. She/he presented her/his tribe/region. The guests are all the famous and important person you can find in Indonesia or has given something important contribution to the country.
Usually all the guest must wear traditional cloth from any tribe in Indonesia.
And because Joko Widodo, recent president, loves to give a bicycle, the best wearing traditional cloth will get the bicycle. It is so fun!😅
For common people, we usually held a ceremony by our own at nealy football/volleyball/or any kind of field. We sang our National Anthem, wearing traditional cloth, and hoist/raise the flag. Then, we do any kind of game in neighborhood and get the prize! Some games are crazy, some are easy.
I suggest you to come to Indonesia around/before the Independence day.
