I waited over a year for the right LCI DCT car to pop up on the market and finally pulled the trigger in December and couldn't be happier with my choice. I needed a car my wife could drive if I needed to use her car for something and the DCT has been absolutely perfect for her and daily driving while still being engaging to drive. Great video Tyler
@@Noobody- LCI is BMW’s term for “model update”. It stands for Life Cycle Impulse. Like all car manufacturers, part way through the life of a model they update the design and mechanical components. DCT stands for dual clutch transmission. Normal automatic transmissions use a torque converter to dampen the transfer of energy between the engine and transmission and one input shaft, while a dual clutch has 2 input shafts and a clutch for each shaft. DCTs can shift quicker than torque converter automatics.
I have one, and people that know definitely know what’s up…thing’s a f’n blast to drive. A unique car makes the best sounds. Can totally drive it like an old man and then stomp on it to remind you you’re not
I would remove the burble tune or set it so it only pops below 30mph like when you want to rev at a stop light. But not for regular driving. Also, it just shortens turbo/seals/exhaust component lifespan.
Yes, I currently have a 2010 N54. Down pipe, water pump, thermostat housing, fuel pump, blower motor, alternator, 2 batteries, electronics in rear passenger wheel well are just a portion of the problems ive had in 6 years. the car currently has 104K miles. @@albertdunberg6130
Nice car. I’ve driven an N54 for 28,000 miles over 4 years and never had a single breakdown or problem. Only routine maintenance and one tpms component. So I have been very fortunate.
my first bmw. i got same spec in 2019. 10k in mods and maintenance. it's a beast when you want it to be and a great daily. just need to get a lsd to complete.
Bought my 2011 135i in 2018 with 65k on clock. Between 65k and 97k it has cost me about $20k. I came close to selling it when the turbo froze. It was killing me...and infuriating my long suffering wife! I love this damn car. Couldn't let it go! The Little Speed Shop in Rochester did everything that needed doing, rebuilding suspension, turbo (PURE Stg 1) etc. IMHO this car is perfect design; proportions in and out, performance. Just neat. I powder coated the stock rims gloss black, CF grille, CF lip spoiler, medium window tint, Savanah red, sun roof, not an M but has all the M specs incl HK sound.
Great car. I had a bolt on 335i N54 and honestly it wasn’t too bad on reliability but I’ve heard stories lol. Def would get a n55 next over another n54
So does anyone know what exactly he’s done with his exhaust? My n54 135i currently only has catless dp but will get a resonator and muffler delete. Hopefully it sounds loud like this.
I am a total newbie with modifying cars. I always like BMW and thinking to get a 2010 135i , I am just not sure if I should get a N55 (new years) instead. Any advices will be greatly appreciated. I might just want some minor modification (budget) issue. Again, I am new and not sure what minor modifications should I do. This is more like a weekend driving car
I love my 2010 135. The big things are that the N54 is gonna be more expensive to maintain…but basically everything that can go wrong is a super easy DIY job, and you can make big power with small effort. N55 def wins on reliability…but it’ll enjoy less power gains, and what big maintenance issues do come up are a lot harder to shade tree.
if anyone in the comments have eibach or any lowered springs on their e82... Hows the ride quality? I'm thinking of getting springs for my car but im concerned about the quality
not a fan of paddle shifters on 135i. keep it manual that's how it was intended to be driven. dual clutch is more expensive to repair, just look up repair costs of a E60 535 with a SMG trans. $5k
get what you want and dont look back. worrying about possible repair costs is a waste of energy, love dct shift like a boss when you want to, cruise when you dont
@@E36tyler ah well sounds easy enough what about a muffler delete but the kind that you just empty the muffler and weld a tube inside it and then weld it shut so it looks stock, do you pass with that?
You are definitely talking shit, my N54 only left me 2 times in 4 years on the road , once waterpump, and 2 injectors. So keep your N55 mate. It's stage 2+ with full bolt on. The only thing it needs is upgraded turbos.

LMAO. The word reliable is a word i would never put in the same sentence with BMW 135i.
