Absolutely! This is one of my favorite drives through this area and I truly enjoy it every time I go through Colorado. Well I know that it does have some hairpin turns and there’s areas that are a little bit steep I enjoy getting out and just seeing the natural beauty that you find along this road

And see that is the fun of it. We get to have a glimpse into the lives of those who were once there and we get to imagine what it would’ve been like now or imaginations might not paint a full picture of what it really was like but at least it gives a somewhat of a visual
I’m so happy that you came along with me for this one. I’m glad that I can take you along! It always brings me joy to hear that people are enjoying the videos and saying something but otherwise they might not be able to go and visit it brings me so much joy!
Another awesome video. So glad you mentioned having water with you on the pass. We flat-landers often forget how fast the dry, thin mountain air will dehydrate us, and dehydration is also a big contributor to altitude sickness. If you feel a headache coming on up there, start drinking water, it'll help.
Absolutely I always tell people you need to have water and gas if you’re going anywhere into the mountains. You never know what you’re going to encounter and your body reacts differently to hire an altitude that you go
Thank you! I have really enjoyed sharing the different kinds of drives that they have in Colorado and I hope to continue doing this periodically in different locations as well. I’m fat I just changed a part of my set up so that I could film even more.

Thank you! I really enjoy sharing videos and my style has really evolved over the past few years. My goal now it’s not so much to squeeze in all the information it’s a short frame but instead to let the video kind of talk for itself and those who are interested will watch. So some of my videos like this one or a little longer but it gives the area and entire moment to shine as opposed to condensing the beauty and picking and choosing what parts of the travel but I want to share.
No. I wanted to film these in advance so that I could put them out during the snow in months and give people an idea of what is out there. While it might be a little bit confusing on the timeline itself I wanted people to see this so while they’re planning their upcoming travels for the year they would consider places like this and find a way to work them into their own adventures. A little strange I know but I know a lot of people start off in January and February planning their summer adventures so that they can have the right money and right hotel or accommodations already accounted for
This by far is one of my favorite passes in all of Colorado. I do have one additional video of a scenic drive that I think if you enjoyed this when you will truly enjoy I have it scheduled out I believe for tomorrow but don’t hold me to that LOL

There are some mountain passes that are four-wheel-drive only however this one and several others are not. I think so often we are programmed to think that all passes are the same but they actually are not in mini has become improved
I did a whole bunch of high passes in a 1978 Minni Winnebago -- sometimes we were only going 45 at the top on the big highways, and on a more rural one, the steepness slowed us to 25, but we made it! The high altitudes killed overdrive on that engine, but it came back when we dropped below 3500' again.
I’m so happy that you enjoyed today’s upload. This one was one of my favorite passes and when I first visit Colorado I didn’t think that I could make it. That was why it was so important for me to do a video like this to show that you truly can
I graduated High School from Roaring Fork High in Carbondale before Basalt and Carbondale built a common high-school. Graduated in 1972. YOU, young lady, are a MOST excellent videographer! Another fine trip to go on with you. And YES, I'm skittery: farris wheels are out, trams are out, but driving the Oregon elevated coast line this summer-fall on my maiden voyage as solo female nomad, that didnt bother me, going over the bridge at Newport, OR, I had to keep my eyes FORWARD, praying.... Looking forward to meeting you if you get to Quartzsite this year. I'm on my first leg of travel, having left base at Molalla, OR this morning. Happy Trails, Ms CharLee👵 Angel🚐 Nikki🐕
Thank you so much I try really hard to capture the moments that I am traveling through so that someone who isn’t there can feel like they are. Taking the time to do the extra angles and the small little pieces as well as the grand large piano pieces is very important to me and doing that. Not to mention it tells the story of the location so much more 3-D way
My very first time taking 82(Independence Pass) out of Aspen was in 1989. July of 1989 in fact, and I was out in Glenwood Springs on business. Anyway, back in those days, before Global Warming was such a problem, I stood knee deep in snow at the top of Independence Pass. I wish I'd not lost that picture! That same visit to Aspen had me watching people in bathing suits skiing down Aspen's trails and the lifts in full operation. As I was standing there gawking like a tourist, the clouds rolled in, everyone cleared off the mountain and it started snowing like mad, at the same time they fired up the snow canons and by the time the short snow storm passes, and the sun came out again, everyone was back on the lifts heading for the first run down fresh powder. It was like being on a completely different planet! Two years later I moved from NY City to Denver so I could experience more of what Colorado had in store. The sad part is I lived and worked in the Denver Metro Area and didn't spend nearly as much time exploring Colorado as I had dreamed. I started vanlife in 2019, and managed to spend a bunch of time exploring and enjoying Rocky Mountain National Park, and last summer, I spent 3 months exploring and enjoying places like Twin Lakes, Clear Creek, Buena Vista, Leadville, and so much more. I'll probably be back there this summer again and loving every second of it! One advantage of having lived there for so many years I was lucky and had no trouble breathing while I was there last summer. And my love, my facination with, Colorado started back in 1972 when John Denver released Rocky Mountain High and I heard it for the first time. The story goes, that he and his family went camping near Aspen in 1971 and he / they were hooked, and moved to Aspen in 1972. So I have him to thank for all of that! One man, one song, changed my life forever!
I try to let each location speak for itself. This drive is over an hour and a half long so I wanted to show enough of it that everyone could experience it even if they can’t personally drive it. I think that sometimes a more lengthy video is important for sharing the subject. However some of the videos that I make her also a lot shorter LOL
@@BunnyPlaysHere You were able to show lots of beautiful things in the video. Every location has its own unique views that will make your supporters enjoy it.
I agree and as you walk through a ghost town you’re able to get a glimpse of the lives of the people that once lived there and envision what it would’ve been like I think that is really cool
Hi Bunny you should come to Wyoming and go thru the Big Horn Mountains they are beautiful and many free campsites up there plus Thermopolis Isa beautiful little town with natural hot springs the bath house in the state park is free also and free showers
I do want to roam around Wyoming a bit more as well as Montana. Last time I was there I only tapped a few small places and I have since improved my vehicle so that I can go to more places and stay so that I don’t have to worry about the fear of hard sides only LOL
@@BunnyPlaysHere I just bought a van a month ago and will be a nomad here really soon I have been planning for about 6 months now when you come here hit me up I can take you to some really nice places and some unknown places only locals know about lol
No… I’m not sure exactly how they determine when the lights change it’s kind of interesting the way they have it set up there may be a camera or something attached to it or it could just periodically changed based on the amount of people that have gone past one of the counter wires that they have across the road not sure
As for the gas I always recommend getting gas before you start on something that you’re not quite as familiar with. I even do that whenever I’m traveling across areas that I don’t know if I’m going to have great cell signal just in case
I didn’t see any deer when I was visiting which I thought was wild because in this area I know there are a lot LOL it was really beautiful though and I kept looking
Absolutely beautiful place. You take dimples on a lot of epic adventures and high places on ruff roads. What all do you do to keep up on maintenance to keep dimples in tip top shape? I know you’re extremely busy but maybe in the future, can you do a video on it or have I missed one that you have done before. Im old I could have even watched it. 🤷🏻🤦🏻♀️😁😁😁😁
I kind of integrate any kind of maintenance into other videos. For example the one about finding a campsite I showed how I get my oil changed on the road and how I have to take the time to do that. Most the time I don’t do just a dedicated maintenance day because I do maintenance in sporadic as it needs to be done moments on the road
Absolutely I have seen this before and Bodie California there is a great concept of arrest of decay. Although some ghost towns do not abide by this fully. Many do. It’s interesting to see how from ghost town to ghost town you end up with very different concepts of how they for preserve it. Some fully reinvent the space by creating new buildings and allow them to slowly deteriorate to show what it is like to see the town slowly will it into the sunset. While others allow the existing structures to stand and just secure them so that they can slowly fade into the distance

The goal is to get out there and see all of the majestic amazing wonderful things that can be accessed. Thank you so much for adding me to your playlist and I hope you’re having a wonderful start to your new year
That is a good question. I have seen in different ghost towns that a lot of the brothels were actually referred to as the saloons. But others do have them marked as hotels so I don’t know when this particular community which would’ve been which
I don’t think he would have an issue in a hightop van there’s not really any low clearance areas. The link is the problem only because of the winding roads
I miss living in my 4WD Isuzu Trooper..... I was crazy unstoppable in that thing. Now that I have a 2010 Dodge Caravan, I have more probs than I'd like....... Wow Bunny, you provide the most awesome scenic passes along with so much great information. Fantastic !!!!! ❤👍👍👍
Thank you so much! I really want people to be able to see what’s out there and know that they could do things that otherwise they might not think they can. I remember my first trip to Colorado I was in a small car and I saw Mountain pass and immediately discounted the fact that I could make it. Little did I know it was in fact this mountain pass. I think a lot of times we limit ourselves by not knowing what truly is out there.
New subscriber. Love your channel. Do you get lonely without a pet? Did you ever have one since you started traveling? Do you think you will ever get a furry buddy?
I have a pet but he cannot travel he is an elder pet and I don’t feel it would be fair to him to hit the road and go to places and leave him in the van. My van is not set up for an additional travel companion it doesn’t have ventilation that would allow for that to be safe so while it would be pretty nice to have my little dog long every so often I also think that he probably prefers his cushy life at home LOL
Currently yes it is closed. I wanted to make sure I put this video out during the early part of the month for many families are starting to plan their vacations. By allowing people to see this particular video it might spark an interest in the area later on in the year and that they will include it in their plans.
This was during summer, during winter and spring there are frequently closures but you can always check conditions on the highway websites!!! It is amazing during summer however!!
Bunny you’re sounding out of breath. Altitude getting to you. Might want to mention for flatlanders that there is something called ‘altitude sickness.’ Please use caution. Not much oxygen in the air.
I do usually address that whenever I am in higher altitudes I just didn’t on this one because I had been saying it so frequently along the way. I personally talk about how the air gets stand when you get hire pretty often.
Question of the Day: Are you afraid of heights?
Extremely!
No not really, went zip lining when I was 68.
Yes!
Enjoyed riding along with you (to experience this) via my comfortable chair and on the flat terrain of Texas.

Magnificent views along the way. Although, it's a long video yet very informative and interesting. New fan and supporter from Fit4Expedition
You need to drive Hoosier pass sometime. It's pretty fun with hairpin curves!
That sounds interesting LOL might have to look into it
The ghost town is so interesting. It always amazes me how a onetime bustling community is totally abandoned.
Excellent tips about the gas ⛽
Is there someone manually operating the traffic lights on both sides?
Good question!!
Been over that pass a lot watch out for deer
Great thanks.
It's called arrested decay so they can keep them in their current state but allow them to decay slower.
While others allow the existing structures to stand and just secure them so that they can slowly fade into the distance
hi bunny came across your channel was going to skip it but decided yeah going to give it a watch glad I did love your videography is that what it's called? don't know anyways love yours and your informative in a easy to know way I like your van I have a truck no shell though😔 I am kinda particular about what I would like to get but money 💰 anyways I'm going to continue watching your channel added to my playlist I'm subscribed have a great day full of adventures 🏕️ and HAPPY New Year🎉🎊
Welcome to the channel! I’m glad that you found me. I like to share a lot of different kinds of adventures on this platform and highlight the stories behind each place that you can possibly go and visit. My goal has always been to encourage others to live life more fully whether that be through van travel or a different style. The goal is to get out there and see all of the majestic amazing wonderful things that can be accessed. Thank you so much for adding me to your playlist and I hope you’re having a wonderful start to your new year
Now...I wonder were the brothels called “hotel” or in the “business district”? 😉
That is a good question. I have seen in different ghost towns that a lot of the brothels were actually referred to as the saloons. But others do have them marked as hotels so I don’t know when this particular community which would’ve been which
Do you see high top vans going thru there? I want to hit Colorado in the spring. Any low overpasses?? Im not a fan of heights but it looks amazing.
I don’t think he would have an issue in a hightop van there’s not really any low clearance areas. The link is the problem only because of the winding roads
Yeah girl, they didn't have a carbon footprint. They had an equine footprint. 🤣
LOL and then archaeologist find those and we discover new things…
My van is not set up for an additional travel companion it doesn’t have ventilation that would allow for that to be safe so while it would be pretty nice to have my little dog long every so often I also think that he probably prefers his cushy life at home LOL
so it's closed now then?
Currently yes it is closed. I wanted to make sure I put this video out during the early part of the month for many families are starting to plan their vacations. By allowing people to see this particular video it might spark an interest in the area later on in the year and that they will include it in their plans.
What time of year was this taken? When is the best time to go?
This was during summer, during winter and spring there are frequently closures but you can always check conditions on the highway websites!!! It is amazing during summer however!!
Bunny you’re sounding out of breath. Altitude getting to you. Might want to mention for flatlanders that there is something called ‘altitude sickness.’ Please use caution. Not much oxygen in the air.
I do usually address that whenever I am in higher altitudes I just didn’t on this one because I had been saying it so frequently along the way. I personally talk about how the air gets stand when you get hire pretty often.
