I am so fortunate to have trained with him many years ago when he first opened his dojo in LA! I miss him greatly! So sorry he passed at such a young age! Salute to him!!
what many people miss with this drill (especially the anti-Aikido crowd) is that the emphasis is really on footwork. You are learning to move in circular motions in relationship to your opponent. With your movement you are breaking your opponent's rhythm.
I hope to someday to visit Furuya Sensei's dojo. Thank you for making this free for all to watch. May he rest in peace, he made an amazing impact on our world.
Aikido is a magical art that opens the mind to a dimension greater than sport. For example, returning hostile energy to the sender, or learning to let go, or understanding that you are one with your partner or the universe, understanding that without contact there is no confrontation, etc...
Probably the best explanation of Aikido techniques. It is very sad he passed so young.
We love aikido..We love Mr Kensho Furuya though he passed away....We are from Rangoon karen youth.
This is one of the best Aikido video I've ever seen; I've learned a lot from these videos. I hope to visit Furuya Sensei's Dojo as well. Thank you very much for sharing!!!

On March 6, 2007, Reverend Kensho Furuya passed away while teaching at the Aikido Center of Los Angeles.

C’est très bien expliqué,merci pour le partage . Haute Savoie France
Through understanding you come into the motion and movement and guide the natural momentum of adversarial energy.
OSS Sensei amazing this video, tks.
Instead of seeing the confrontation as a "fight", it seems better to see it more as a "dance" when the opponent's moves are initiated.
Good to see this uploaded to the Internet by the right people! 👍
Thanks for the teachings
Thank you very much Sensei. Student from Sydney, Australia.
A very honest and sincere man he was. RIP, Reverend.
Best explanation of techniques and practices ever. Love this series. No wasted words, yet jam packed with information.
