Sharon McKinney thanks for watching Sharon. I recreated the video in horizontal mode and gives you a few more options. Here’s the link. th-cam.com/video/A93ZFmcpEgI/w-d-xo.html
These are just darling. I've seen quite a few of these tutorials. Your attention to detail make yours really stand above the rest-very polished looking.
I want to make several of these for gifts for my church women's group, so I have watched a few tutorials. Yours is the best--very clear, easy to follow instrutions. I especially appreciate your attention to detail, i.e. the neat corners and the glue dot under the knot. Thanks so much--now I feel like I can get started!
Thank you so much Ruth. I have just undertaken the world of creating DIY youtube videos. I appreciate your kind words. Looking forward to creating more videos in the near future.
Karen McNall I made 11 of these cute notebooks for my group, along with a tea bag caddy, hot cocoa mix in a large "matchbook" packet, a decorated binder clip, a large paper clip with a flat flower hot-glued on it, and a candy cane. The ladies seemed to love the little Dollar Tree totes I used to contain it all. They were especially appreciative of the little notebooks saying they were just right to fit in their purses. Again, thanks for your super clear tutorial!
Thank you; I take after my grandmother! Here is a re-take on this video I created a few weeks back. It's in a better format for viewing. I had no idea what I was doing when I first started creating my videos! th-cam.com/video/A93ZFmcpEgI/w-d-xo.html
Karen McNall you are very welcome. I was impressed with your result. Very nice. I’d be happy to buy one and also (thanks to your tutorial) to try to make one, if you know what I mean. I’d also never of thought of adding an embossed label on the front which was a really nice idea. Thank you for this tutorial. It was really nice of you to post it.
Wow!! I really loved this!!! You did a beautiful job making them, they really looked like something you would find in a store!! Thank you for inspiring me. I'm sure mine won't be as lovely as yours but I will do my best!! Have a great week!! Amy C.
Amy Camburn hi Amy. Thanks for your comment. I’m sure yours will turn out great! Here is a link to the same mini composition book but it’s in horizontal mode and may provide a few more options. th-cam.com/video/A93ZFmcpEgI/w-d-xo.html
They are all so very pretty!!! Endless possibilities. Your video was perfect, you also explain everything just right. I will definitely be doing these. I did subscribe to your channel. Looking forward to your next video. Have a great day!!!
@calisongbird - Don’t see that anyone provided clarity to your post, which is now a few years old, as host couldn’t remember. DSP is the Designers Series paper from Stampin’ Up!
Thanks for watching Pamela. I do have another video which was completed in the landscape mode once I knew how to rotate my videos. That one may be better to watch.
What kind of glue can you use that won't crinkle the paper if you don't have the tape? The paper has a tendency to not want to stick to the binding so what's the best glue for that?
Great tutorial. Very clear and you made it so easy. I can't wait to try it out. I want to make them for my fellow teachers. But I am thinking of venturing into craft fairs. What would you care for these?
Hi Cindy. Thank you for your comment. Pricing all depends on your market. The books cost me ten cents each on sale! I priced them at $1.50. I hope that helps. Best of luck.
I break down my paper cost. For example:. 20 sheets of glitter paper Michael's is 19.99 which is $1 a sheet. I can wrap around 2 composition books front and back with one 11.75 x 12 sheet. So I take that $1 per sheet and divide it by 2 which is 50 cents. So when I'm adding my material cost for my paper, in this case is (.50) then multiply it by 2. So a Dollar for my paper per composition.
Thanks for your price breakdown. I appreciate feedback. Pricing depends on the market you are selling in. My area may be much different than your area. I try my best not to overprice, but keep competitive and cover my costs plus. I do my best to purchase supplies on huge discounts, thus more margin. I hope that helps with my pricing logic.
You forgot that expensive tape, ribbon and whatever other embellishments you might use, some cost for the table oh, and your time. I think $3 is too much personally, but I just make them for something to do and just want my calls back and I don't have to pay for a table. Craft fair prices always seem high to me but I was not taking into consideration the price they pay for their space and table.
These little notebooks are adorable I picked up a bunch of them at the dollar store but never made anything out of them you have inspired me.But I always find it challenging to put a price to the finish project when participating in craft fairs.

Karen McNall That's too cheap. You have to charge for your time. I time myself. These sale on Etsy for $3 to $9. You have to charge for your time. Your hourly rate divided by how many you make in an hour. Plus cost of material times 2. Example:. If you charge $15/hr and you make 10 an hour and material is .50 cents. Then you would charge $2.50 for the mini book.

I really like these, the way you do your corners is a great idea. Thank you so much for sharing.

So beautifully done and demonstrated. So it's only the book covers that you decorate. The pages are blank then?
Monica Moreira hi Monica. Yes the white pages are left as is. Here’s another video with a few more ideas. th-cam.com/video/A93ZFmcpEgI/w-d-xo.html

Sharon. I do not add paper to the binding because it’s too small in my mind.
Great tutorial. Very clear and you made it so easy. I can't wait to try it out. I want to make them for my fellow teachers. But I am thinking of venturing into craft fairs. What would you care for these?
Oops. Meant to say charge for these. I hate the auto correct.☺
Hi Cindy. Thank you for your comment. Pricing all depends on your market. The books cost me ten cents each on sale! I priced them at $1.50. I hope that helps. Best of luck.

thanks for watching!
Did you use a card stock paper? Some paper pads are card stock and some are not.
Christina Williams Hi Christina. I use Designer Series paper from Stampin’ Ip! It’s beautiful paper and works great!
Thank you!

Thanks for watching. I recently recreated this video and breakdown pricing. Here is the link th-cam.com/video/A93ZFmcpEgI/w-d-xo.html
How much do these sale for?
I haven't yet decided for the 2018 craft fair season. Most likely between $1.50 and $2 each.

What should I charge for this, it is a bit of work. But I do have lots of DSP.
I charge $3 each or 2 for $5
