Excellent review and examination of the Colle. I have raised my rating from 1250 to 1350 playing this opening. Your lecture has added to my understanding.
Thanks GM Ratkovic. I am practicing this opening a lot against the bots, it's very effective well into 1300. But, I have been experimenting with an early Re1 before e4. In analysis/review, the computer likes this, showing a significant advantage for White.
Interesting how many nations play chess!!! With the different ways we pronounce chess academia?? I've been pronouncing Colle as caul not collie and as for koltanowski? Huh? What's that? Let alone zukertort!!! And apparently if you play the same for black that has a different name I think???.....
Hi, Colle was Belgian so the pronunciation is “Collie” like the dog breed. George Koltanowski (he pronounced it “Koltanovski”) was also Belgian and popularized this opening. He was president of USCF back in the ‘70s and is famous for his blindfold simuls and Knight’s Tours. If you play this system for black I believe it’s called the Semi-Slav.
@@SirenaAsada thanks!!!! I was wondering where the extra v's and ie's were coming from I had only run into two Belgian people at this point and I noticed that the Belgian language skills are excellent!!! Both spoke English like a it was a first language and their was not enough other Belgians to realize that the language had other differences 👍
