Love your work Father. Would you kindly discuss why Nicodemus and Joseph are so venerated when they didn’t step forward before His sufferings and worldly death? Even Judas regretted, albeit unrepentant. Couldn’t Nicodemus’ and Joseph’s noble LIKE actions, after the event, be considered analogous to Judas throwing back the 30 pieces of silver? Forgive my ignorance not trying to scandalise anyone.

Hi! Thank you for your question. It can certainly be taken that way when you isolate the incidents. It would have been good for me to elaborate a bit more on St Joseph and St Nicodemus, but lack of time didnt allow me. Yes what they did was noble and courageous, given the Apostles were in hiding. Judas also shows remorse for His betrayal. But the outcome is very different. Judas despairs and hangs himself, whereas St's Joseph and Nicodemus complete there life as faithful followers of Christ After having received baptism and the Holy Spirit, we know that Saint Nicodemus dies a Martyrs death and receives the crown of Martyrdom amd Saint Joseph goes to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in England, establishing the first Christian Church in England!

@@demosnicolaou3842 I didnt know about their later virtues, nevertheless, the Church seems to commemorate them for for their immediate act after Christ's torture and death in this world. So I'm still left so see that those highlighted acts are NOT noble but "noble like" as I clumsily failed to express above. Its like an adulterous spouse, perhaps they will initially repent publicly, risking humiliation and retribution but if they live a long patient and repentant life as a genuine spouse and parent, should they be memorialised for their first instance or the long enduring expression thereafter?

@@lemilemi5385 I think what they did was very noble and courageous. At this point they both put aside their positions, Joseph as a member of council, Nicodemus as a Pharisee to go, seek permission for the body of Jesus to be buried by them. In the end of the day, they could have stayed out of it and given that responsibility to a family memeber of Christ or an immediate apostle. It would have made me sense and have been less of a risk for Mother Mary to ask for Christs body, after all, she is His mother, there would have been much less a risk and nothing to loose. By Joseph and Nicodemus taking this responsibility they knew that their reputation and high positions were at risk. After all, it was the council members and Pharisees who wanted Jesus dead. I dont see their actions at all just noble like, but very noble and heroic. Whereas Judas was already known as a disciple and follower, they got what they wanted from him regardless of whether he regretted what he did.

Demos Nicolaou I guess that’s why God sends us all types of saints. The lives of some can penetrate our hard hearts more than others.
