I really enjoyed watching this. It is interesting to hear where and how our drinking water became a thing being a Liverpudlian, although a hundred years before I was born before Llyn Vyrnwy was created! I was of the belief it came from Capel Celyn until not long ago. We visit this area almost every weekend, have done for over 20 years as we have a little place there. it's such a beautiful place and also investing a lot of time to learn the language. I can only imagine how hard it must've been for the families of these flooded valleys. It really is important to tell the story and history. Look forward to the next film. Diolch, Da iown.

Nice film. I don't know much about Capel Celyn, but my family lived at Llanwyddyn and I have visited the moved church to discover their fading graves. Around that time (1880s) they moved from the village to Flint. They were very poor farm labourers and they eventually found better lives moving away. I never heard tales of regret, although they may have done so. In the mid 19th century with cholera rampant, life expectancy in Liverpool was less than twenty. I think it needs to be viewed in that context. Thank you for your work. It's made me want to visit again this summer.

Absolutely. Something we want to explore in part three is how Liverpool long before Vyrnwy and even after struggled with a continually expanding population. And we would like to explore those similarities and differences further when we dedicate a full episode 2 Celyn. As you mentioned the reception to Vyrnwy post construction in comparison to Celyn is quite different. Glad you enjoyed and I hope you stick around for what we have next 💖🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿📽️

Lovely production, some of my mother's family were relocated to meifod, tales are told that it was a new beginning, a nice flat fertile farm, easily worked and farmed, unlike the boggy steep hillsides of thier farm in llanwddyn.
Visited capel celyn last time the level was low, one couldn't help but feel an eerie sadness at the loss

Thank you for doing this documentary, I had no idea this had happened to more than one village! This is a microcosm of how Wales has been abused by or neighbour and its important to continue to bring these things to light #YesCymru

Thanks so much for this, was great series. Really excellently pulled together. If you plan to continue this exploration, I’d be keen to hear about how Birmingham’s expansion story impacted the Elan Valley’s villages in this beautiful storytelling you have all crafted. It’s my understanding that a precedent was set almost by Birmingham corporation in the late 1800s but I’d be very interested to understand this better, if you hope to explore it

Thank you so much for your kind words. Absolutely! Episode 3 will be focused on Capel Celyn then after that who knows :D. But Elan is definitely something we want to explore in more detail.

Are you Welsh? I love Wales!! My heart is still there..
He walked up a hill and came down a mountain.. I stayed at Mills Farm near the Abbey. I did not even think about my family name.. Which is Mills.. I cant wait to go back and tell them were are blood related..
Bless you and Bless Wales. My dad is so stupid, he said he was going to England. He would be in Wales. He thought it was just a neighborhood, outside of London.. I was very shocked that he is so stupid! Wales in not England!!!!

Interesting bit about how London had eyes on the Severn way back then. With immigration being at so high levels ..is it 9 million in 20 years where next will be planned. Seen recent discussions about problems of flooding from the Severn and schemes being tossed around about creating huge "reservoir" to take the flood waters..Thought at first it was an April fool given the size of the scheme.. Will be even harder these days with all the conservation groups etc,

Poor sods, they just can't leave people to live their lives in peace, always interfering and telling people what to do and how to do it :(
