Mckenna Grace joins Kyle Meredith to talk about her latest single, “Natalie,” as well as reprising her role in the upcoming Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The actress/musician discusses how she wrote the new song as a tribute to her friend Xochitl Gomez, basing her recent EPs on different genres (pop punk for Bittersweet 16 and folk for Autumn Leaves), and wanting to make a metal album. In fact, Grace namechecks System of a Down as one of her current favorite bands, but not to be boxed in, also names Taylor Swift’s Folklore as her all time favorite albums, along with Blondeshell’s 2023 release and Alanis Morrisette’s Under Rug Swept. Grace goes on to tell us what it’s like returning to the Ghostbusters franchise and how her character has grown, as well as the jam sessions she had with co-stars Finn Wolfhard and Paul Rudd during downtime on the shoot.

Thanks for this. My family abd I met her at Megacon a few months ago and this interview covered most of what I wanted to say to her, but didn't. I especially appreciated that you told her that as much as she wishes she was as cool as x, her fans feel the same way about her. So much of her lyrics touch on her insecurities, yet she is absolutely adored for who she already is. The songwriting is truly impressive. While I love her various styles, I'm more into the rock side (YRN, Ugly Crier, Self Dysmorphia). Buzzkill Baby is in Def Leppard territory. So, I look forward to hearing her lean into that heavier side. A wonderful talent and delightful young lady.
