Street Sounds has been accredited by numerous journalists and DJs, including Paul Gambaccini, Bob Kilbourn and James Hamilton as pioneering Electro, Hip Hop and House in the UK. Numerous publications and other media have documented the importance of Street Sounds to popular culture.

The best ellectro album in my opinion
I do like Electro 5... (I mean I like em all 😂)...for me, I think 1 & 9 are my favourites! But this is so Good!! 😀

Crucial 1 is my favourite but 5 is a close second.
The B side is sublime, Captain Rock into Aleem & through to the end, also anything that has breakers revenge on it has to be the 💣
I’m 50 yrs old and had to seek out this tune on here.. used to break to this in my playground was 11 .. we had the beats from young lol

All I can say is…. This is exactly my life story. I was 10 years old when I saw this…. These records were everything to me and my mate.
This was the first Electro album I listened to back in the day and it blew me away - Knights of the Turntable mixed sublimely with Egyptian Lover was a classic moment in Electro history 💯👌👀😎🌟♥️

whoever mixed these was a true master of sound, a technical wizard and a sound visionary. the mixes alone would blow me away back in the mid 80s, electro was one of the few bright spots amongst the dross of mid 80s pop, something genuniely new and intense like rock n roll was in the 50s. god where did the time go??? One of these days i gotta see if i can still do the windmill...

Had a mate who had the whole set of these records there are 12 or 13 of them all up it was best music on the planet at the time and still is. this music was way ahead of it's time. it was a very rare set to get in Australia and i wish i could get them now on CD

I had electro 1 to 24 including all the crucial electro albums and more,breakdancing was my favourite hobby when I was 13-14-15 an up ,roll of lino,ghetto blaster ,tunes,good friends,good times. Kids don't know there born today 😐
I only thought they went up to 6 my older brother has mine atm he thought i leant them to him lol I'm 57 now and they still sound as good as they did back then 👍

these old hippies talking about how great the 60s were and punks saying the 70s were the best era, but i think we were the luckiest generation to have hip hop culture descend upon us
