The Tomato Girl is adorable and I love her wonky hips cause we are none of us symmetrical. Can't wait to see the Santa in the brighter red especially with those gorgeous Christmas bunnies.
Katie, I just love your style. I realized today that your stitching and finishing are dainty and sparkly. Then, I realized that you are dainty and sparkly too! Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful creations! And for your tutorials. Keep up the great work! Happy stitching and creating! Santa 😅
‘Gorgeous stitching as always! I love all of the Christmas ornaments!! That band sampler is absolutely stunning, your stitching is next level amazing! Thank you for sharing!
The band sampler is exquisite! Love what you’re doing with the Santa patterns. I’ve never done a Prairie Schooler Santa. As usual, a wonderful floss tube filled with the most beautiful work!
I am so inspired by your interpretations and conversions of charts! I am sure Santa looks forward to seeing the new ornaments on your tree every year! Looking forward to seeing your finished Prairie School Santa !
I'd love to stitch a Katie Strachan conversion of a Prairie Schooler Santa. Fun! I enjoyed seeing your 2024 Christmas ornaments. So beautiful. I really appreciate that you talk about and show the journey you take with each piece you create. Thank you for your inspirational Flosstube! 💚
Santa! I have collected Santas all of my adult life....a long time...and I stitched ALOT of Prairie Schooler Santas in the 80s and bring them out every year. Thanks for another great episode. Take care.
I bet they bring you a lot of joy when you bring them out! I know I always feel like I'm seeing old friends again when I bring my ornaments out every year for Christmas.
Hi Katie, I love your videos and all of the fun things you do! I've been watching for several months, but watch from my TV and never remember to come back to my computer to comment. This video was amazing and I love it all! So much good stuff. Love your Santa. Thanks so much for sharing your amazing talents with us!!!
Thank you for taking the time to comment - I'm often terrible about it myself, but it's always appreciated to know people like what they see, and take the time to say so!
Hi Katie, A Santa here, a Santa there, what’s not to love about Prairie School Santas, and the Santa with two bunnies just makes me want to giggle! Thanks for all the time you spend on your floss tubes, they are full of good information, so much creativity, and tons of fun - your enthusiasm and excitement are infectious! Happy stitching and creating in July.
No, although I do plan on doing a tutorial on briolette edging when I have time - there's really nothing to it, you just mark intervals at the edge and stitch the beads on. Super simple
The newest kits and cardinal restock kits are gorgeous! The band sampler is looking so good. The sparkly dove is beautiful. I can’t wait for details on that. Love a Prairie Schooler Santa. Take care!
Another great video. I can’t wait to get my cardinal kit to start. I really appreciate that you show all the books you get for either eye candy or instruction. Thank you for referencing where we can purchase them. I have to get all you show. I have not been disappointed yet. Loved your ornament parade. You do such a great job on them. Makes me ready for Santa! Till next time keep trying new things and happy stitching….😊🪡🧵🌻
The only prairie schooler Santa I own is the one with the vintage sewing machine. Would love to add another pillow so he has a friend! Loved learning about Jacqui Carey. Can't wait to see more clingy ornaments.
I loved seeing all your finishes. The it’s a wonderful life drum is fabulous. I think it is perfect for Chrismas. And the girl with the sequin dress. So cute. Love all your ornaments and Santa is always a favorite.
That band sampler - whatever block you were having you have obviously broken straight on through. I’m getting excited to see it complete. I’m enjoying Santa for Christmas in July.
Katie, You continue to amaze and inspire!! Your finishes are always creative and sparkly, just like you !! Britomort Sampler is so lovely, can’t wait for the finish. So glad we have designers like you to create beautiful needleworks!! When you stitch your letters do you do the pin stitch to conceal your ends ? Santa will be a cute finish, I’m sure !! Thank you for sharing !
Thank you! I'm really excited for a finish on the Britomart sampler as well, I can't wait to see how it all comes together. I don't end with a pin stitch, I don't think it's very secure - I weave the thread ends in.
Your “ Oh Sweet Humility” is fabulous! I love the verse change! Now on my list! And am over the moon with your June ornament! And love the Santa ! It sounds like you are going to make your Britomart a kit/class - I am so down for that and signed up for notification❤️
Thank you! Britomart will be a chart in full release, a kit, and a class, so everyone can choose at what level they want to engage with it. I'm really excited to offer it to our stitching community!
Another great video Katie! Thank you for sharing the name of the linen you use on your PS Santas. I really like the thought of using different than the brown. I would love to test out the linen on the PS Santa!
Your Sweet Humility is beautiful! Ah, that grass..I’m working on a piece that’s not as big on one color block but it sure is taking a while. But if stitches all the motifs inside the block, stitching the black after is more mindless. Kudos on your over one stitching. Take care!
I envy the people who enjoy block stitching, it must make life so much easier. I like to alternate - I stitch as much grass as I can before I want to throw something, then I stitch a thread of something else, then some grass, then a thread of something else, etc etc.
A lot of my sources were in person and no longer available, but the tutorial does have some suggestions on that front, and guidelines about what to look for etc
Celebrating Santa is a big part of Christmas in July. I do have fond childhood memories of going to the North Pole - a park in the New York mountains - and getting a lollipop from him.
Absolutely! Although I cracked up at the North Pole being a park in the mountains - we didn't have anything like that here on the west coast but there was still plenty of magic at Christmas...
Oh my! So many things…love the sequins on tomato girl; the felt goose is sooo cute; the mother of pearl flower 💕; pink samplers! All the pretty things! 💕
I'm looking forward to your Santa beard tutorial. I like stitching Santas, but I have left most of the beards unstitched because I don't like a plain stitched beard...I want it to be 'more', but haven't known how. Very excited for it!😃
Thank you - it's really fun. Although you will need full understitching, so go ahead and fill them in with cross stitch - you'll be going over it later with the fluffy thread.
Your ornaments all look fantastic. And tomato woman, wow! Such fun, and love the sequins. I'm glad you're going to do a tutorial on sequins, as I want to know where you get them from. The only ones I've been able to access are the metallic looking ones, and most are too large (and some a bit gaudy) to add to my stitching. I'd love to find some small green ones to add as peas to the Eliz Valentine. The Britomart sampler is very pretty. Take care, and happy stitching.
Unfortunately, most of mine are quite old and bought in person from a store in LA, or a local needlepoint shop that has since closed, but I do offer a few suggestions. I don't think you could find anything small enough to use on the Valentine - I have yet to see a sequin smaller than 2mm, which would be too big. But 15/0 seed beads are a great option - one student added beads to her finish in lieu of the french knots and it looked fantastic!
@@katiestrachanembroidery Thanks, Katie. I'll await the video and your suggestions, as I've got other patterns I want to add more bling to. I was thinking of adding beads to the flower centres, but will decide once I've got them stitched. I'll definitely consider 15/0 seed beads, thanks for the suggestion.
Santa. Ohh I don’t have that pattern. Would love to stitch it. Love the rabbits. Great video as usual. Thanks for the book review of Jacqui Carey. Will definitely order her new one
I keep meaning to buy Amy Mitten's book and then getting distracted by all the other pretty things on her website. Like you said with Jacqui, if you are paying for shipping, you might as well make it worthwhile! I have so many things on my "to stitch" list, but you have me wanting to stitch a Santa with rabbits! Your Britomart sampler is so beautiful! It makes me want to design a matching sampler for my Odyssey casket (which I still need to flush out the design for and stitch lol)
Oh that is a wonderful idea! And an Odyssey casket is a fantastic theme - that has so much potential for wonderful, rich visuals. You definitely need to get going and stitch the casket with a sampler to match!!
That brown 100/3 is an interesting color. It reminds me of my my grandpa's 1968 Porsche 912. It was a weird greenish-brownish gold. He later gave it to my dad, but my parents thought it was really ugly so in 1987 my dad had it painted red. That brown was definitely not the right color for a Porsche, but it looks like a very useful thread color! I can't wait for the dove kit! That reminds me, I still need to finish Theodora. (I have way too many projects going at once! But of course I'll be adding three more next week at the GPR seminar … oops!) I love the book Elizabethan Stitches; I managed to get a used copy in great condition at a low price. So useful! (I'm not a huge fan of her stitch diagrams, though. She seems to stitch in odd directions; half the time I end up holding the book upside down.) I really need to get my hands on a copy of MS.8932, as well as her sweet bag book now that it's back in print. The shipping costs have scared me off but I really need to just do it.
Yes, I often use her diagrams upside down myself - I don't follow the recommended directionality of stitching. And her sweet bag book is absolutely not to be missed - the photographs alone are truly spectacular. She was able to get fabulous shots of a wide array of pieces, and clearly understands the value of a clear close up!
SANTA, I'm a Mom of a Christmas baby boy who is now a grown man but still my baby. Christmas is my favorite holiday and although I tend to gravitate to snowmen I have a large collection of Santa's. Thanks for the heads up up on Charles he will look wonderful with the Santa's and snowmen. Maybe her Pooh bear also lol!
Oh once again I love these reels x Holiday Weekend so gotta go ... Family BBQ tomorrow... ugh ! Don't they realise I've so many projects I need to stitch 🤦♀️😂🇬🇧
There's definitely no downside to it, although I totally understand why people often carry between letters in particular. Starting and stopping all those letters individually took forever!
My goodness what a madwoman you are, but in the best way. This heat has been awful and why have I spent most of my life in the central valley when I can't deal with the heat at all?? Watching your sampler and other things is ginning me up to get back to my casket which has been on hiatus like all my stitching as I just got back from a trip....
The heat is just awful here, I can't imagine how brutal it is in the central valley right now. Hate it! I'd be completely happy if the temperature never went above 70, frankly. And get going on your casket! They don't stitch themselves...
Do! My mother made Pooh for me a few years ago for Christmas and it's one of my most cherished ornaments - because she made it, of course, but he is so incredibly cute! Always gets prime placement on my tree.
That's an excellent question - both, really. You have to plan out the band first so that there aren't awkward terminations and it's centered as much as possible, so I work from a chart that is just pencil on graph paper. I've found that I think so much about the placement of every stitch and the design of each element that once I'm actually stitching, I hardly need the chart. And then once I am satisfied with the band and have made all the final choices on color, thread choice, and stitch choice, it's properly charted on the computer. So there's a working chart and then a final chart, since no one else would be able to stitch off my scribbled pencil messes!!!!!
Thank you! I use an away knot for the start, then weave in the thread afterwards, and I weave in the end of my thread to end. It gets a little hairy on those super tiny letters with very few stitches, but it gets the job done.
You did a pattern not sure what it was called but it was gorgeous ( well all you do is gorgeous!) . It was a small and had Joyeux Noel on it with a woman in a blue dress. I can’t seem to find the name of it. Any chance you remember? Oh LOVE love LOVE the wonderful life finish!!!😊
Peppermint and Holly, by Brenda Gervais! A great one - highly recommend. You can find the conversion by using the episode guide on my website, although you'll have to go pretty far back to find it. And I did two conversions, one for my mother (in which she is wearing a green dress), and an earlier one for myself - you're looking for the older one. Enjoy!
Of course! You can find the kit in my shop at katie-strachan.com/shop, and then the chart can be ordered from Stacy Nash directly, she has an Etsy shop (StacyNashDesigns), or any LNS can get it for you - the Attic, Needle in a Haystack, Silver Needle, etc. Enjoy! It's such a fabulous piece.
Going to check this out. I like samplers like this on solid fabric no overdyes. Don't want that big of a difference. My opinion. Thank you dear❤@@katiestrachanembroidery
Thank you! Your changes were inspired - those little tweaks made all the difference and really elevated the design. Thank you for taking the time to comment - I just loved your piece!
The Tomato Girl is adorable and I love her wonky hips cause we are none of us symmetrical. Can't wait to see the Santa in the brighter red especially with those gorgeous Christmas bunnies.
Thank you! I'm afraid I just got a bit lazy on the finishing but so true - I'm definitely not symmetrical myself!!
Katie, I just love your style. I realized today that your stitching and finishing are dainty and sparkly. Then, I realized that you are dainty and sparkly too! Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful creations! And for your tutorials. Keep up the great work! Happy stitching and creating! Santa 😅
Thank you, that's so kind of you! I'm glad you enjoy them!
You lead us all down the santa and sparkle rabbit hole. Great floss tube. Thank you
Thank you for watching!

Thank you - I'm really glad you appreciate it. I'm never quite sure if I'm making sense or not when I start rambling about the creative process!!!
Stitching the Christmas Santa would be pure joy!
Very much so!
Love your stitching progress. I had to stop video to go to your website and order you drum keep conversion. So excited to do this. Happy stitching 🌸💞🌸
Thank you, and enjoy! It's a great project, especially with the wreath display
I could never emulate your creativity but am fascinated by the process! Looking forward to when we can purchase this kit!!!!
Thank you! It's been a really interesting journey for me too, and I'm so excited to see a finish on this piece

Enjoyed your flosstube! Loved your Santa finish!
Thank you so much!
So happy you’re offering Cardinal Kin kits again ❤️ thanks so much for sharing your beautiful projects. Santa
Is there a tutorial to accompany the Cardinal Kin kit
Enjoy! They're a ton of fun
Take care!
Thank you! I'm so excited to share the crystal dove - such a fun project, and very easy!
The drum and the cardinals are so pretty! Who doesn't love a Prairie Schooler Santa! Your stitching is amazing!
Thank you so much!

You can never have too many Prairie Schooler santas! Or Jacqui Carey books...
Happy Christmas in July. I loved seeing your Santa conversions as well as your other fabulous pieces. Pure inspiration. Thank you.

It would be an excellent first santa!!
Katie, your Britomart sampler is divine! your content is wonderfully educational. Santa!!
Thank you so much!

That band sampler - whatever block you were having you have obviously broken straight on through. I’m getting excited to see it complete. I’m enjoying Santa for Christmas in July.
It definitely needed to spend some time in timeout, but that time served its purpose and I'm feeling it now!
I love Santa, and your flosstubes!
Thank you!
Your stitching is so lovely and inspirational. So, so pretty to admire. I’d love to stitch the lovely Santa and two bunnies with you. Happy stitching!
Thank you so much!
Your sparkly and enthusiastic personality is very inspiring. I'm thinking of ways to add sequins and beads to a prairie schooler Santa.
Definitely! They are wonderful as is but even better with some sparkle!
Love everything, Katie! Can’t wait to see what you do with your PS santas.
Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing so much inspiration! I love the Santa with the bunnies- so entertaining and I'm sure fun to stitch!

Another great video Katie! Thank you for sharing the name of the linen you use on your PS Santas. I really like the thought of using different than the brown. I would love to test out the linen on the PS Santa!
Thank you! Changing the linen is a really easy way to switch up the look just a little, I love gray linen for PS santas
Luv all your kits !!! You are so fabulous. !!!! Thankyou for the beautiful video !

Definitely not! I'm usually pretty organized but it happens to all of us at some point or another...

Thank you so much!
No carries is a great habit, I too am a fanatic about it.
There's definitely no downside to it, although I totally understand why people often carry between letters in particular. Starting and stopping all those letters individually took forever!
Santa. Enjoyed watching this episode
Thank you so much!
I have my mother's huge Santa collection.
A wonderful treasure!
Great floss tube! Santa
Thank you!
@@katiestrachanembroidery that's the truth!!
I love the goose ornament Katie. I'd really like to do a winnie the pooh ornament from that company.
Do! My mother made Pooh for me a few years ago for Christmas and it's one of my most cherished ornaments - because she made it, of course, but he is so incredibly cute! Always gets prime placement on my tree.
Amazing stitching! For the Breitamart sampler, I am wondering if you chart before you create/stitch or after you have completed a section?
That's an excellent question - both, really. You have to plan out the band first so that there aren't awkward terminations and it's centered as much as possible, so I work from a chart that is just pencil on graph paper. I've found that I think so much about the placement of every stitch and the design of each element that once I'm actually stitching, I hardly need the chart. And then once I am satisfied with the band and have made all the final choices on color, thread choice, and stitch choice, it's properly charted on the computer. So there's a working chart and then a final chart, since no one else would be able to stitch off my scribbled pencil messes!!!!!
Bon jour sweet princess, Santa is looking for a quick stitch.
Always a great choice!
Wonderful floss tube! Loved the ornaments! 🌲 Do you have a specific technique for the start and end of your single letters without the carry?
Enjoy!
@@katiestrachanembroidery I thought that peppermint and Holly were the two snowmen. Thank you
I would like to order a Wonderful Life and pattern and kit. How do I do this? ❤️❤️
Santa!
Love videos!. Need help on a fabric for Rose Wreath by GG R. Could you advise. Take care
Thank you! I'd try Legacy Linen 48 count Marchpane given the size, but I also like small stitching. A creamy ground would really let the colors pop.
Going to check this out. I like samplers like this on solid fabric no overdyes. Don't want that big of a difference. My opinion. Thank you dear❤@@katiestrachanembroidery
Kate uding overdyed thread so this is to small 46 count ?@@katiestrachanembroidery
@@yvonnevigil7489 It is
Santa. Can you tell me what the fabric again
Legacy Linen 38 count Wayfarer's Cloak, a great choice for a PS santa!
Katie thank you for your never ending inspiration and thank you for the mention. Tomato girl has taken on a life of her own 😂 @inspiredbymichellerea 💕
Thank you! Your changes were inspired - those little tweaks made all the difference and really elevated the design. Thank you for taking the time to comment - I just loved your piece!
