We got chickens last year and every time I bring in a couple eggs my husband will say “there’s a couple bucks”. 🤣 I cannot believe the price. Yesterday at Walmart an 18 pack was $10. I definitely recommend chickens. They are so sweet and obviously worth it right now.
@@wolflover4life19and just as a suggestion to ANYONE if yall have the ability to raise chickens, an incubator is a costly investment but WORTHY if one could consider spending $200 on a flock or eggs. That 1 time investment tho can pay out year after year by circumventing the need for a hatchery. Meat birds are a different thing tho. If u want consistency of texture and familiar MODERN cookery then commercial meat birds from the store or a hatchery are a must. If u know how to tweak the cooking, prepping, breeding of the birds then eating is OK, but it IS DIFFERENT than what we get from the grocery store today.
I've had chickens for over 10 years now - but sadly, they aren't laying right now when I really NEED them too! I know it's related to shorter days and less light, so I probably need to have my husband hook up a light on a timer to encourage some egg laying - but goodness, for now, I'm paying for chicken food AND buying eggs at the store! YIKES! Just sayin'....even if you have chickens, you still have expenses for food, scratch, a few treats once in a while, etc. And, like eggs, the price of chicken food isn't getting any cheaper, either!
I’m still a little confused… did you eat the PW dinners? If that fed your family then that was technically your groceries. I think you’re very frugal and I enjoy the videos so much, I just have a little trouble with the math if you don’t include all the food you ate.
I think the difference in her family groceries and her TH-cam groceries really shows the power of slowly buying things over time when on sale! Most of us probably shop like the TH-cam groceries- here’s 5 recipes for the week and what I need to buy. Does usually end up being about $100 for just dinners and then you add on all the other stuff for breakfasts and lunches.
That is good insight for those thinking she is being dishonest about how much she spends monthly. Because that 100.00 is feeding her family for 5 nights some might think she is "cheating" in a way. But they need to look at it this way. She is providing meal ideas and then on the other hand deal savings. They need to separate the two.
I disagree. Because then she could just claim all of her groceries are for videos. I think for the sake of authenticity if her family eats it it’s counts toward the grocery budget. I also think anytime she purchases meat from half a cow or a whole cow should count because that means she doesn’t have to buy it at the store. But she can do what she wants to do is her channel.
I cut down on grocery bill by eating PBJ or cereal or sandwich for lunch. It's saves so much money and time. Or make pizza roll ups. Tortilla topped with cheese pepperoni and cheese roll up and warm on top of stove. My kiddos loved it. New easy lunch ideas.
I have such a hard time saying no to foods I crave when I am in store. Grocery pick-up is saving our budget. I love getting to see how much I am about to spend and having a chance to adjust what is in my cart before I buy.
About 10 - 12 months ago started changing my diet etc. I cut about a lot of junk food etc. It was because of health issues and not being able to exercise etc. Slowly losing weight. Plus interment fasting most of time etc. Also cutting down portions etc. I still have some goodies once in a while etc. How I do it, hunger pains are never as painful as back, leg, neck and migraines pains. I figure if I can get through all pain hunger pains are not bad. 😂 I keep binge goodies out of house. It's not easy but doing it. Their is nothing that is a no no just not every day or every week. So I save money. Good time to do it as food is ridiculously high. Of course I price around every where for food etc. 🤪😝😁🌸
Your family eats the groceries you buy for business, right? So do you add the business grocery expense to your monthly grocery expense for the total groceries it takes to feed your family? (I could understand excluding the Reese's items you bought because those are just extra treats.)
@@JoshBeetler lots of stocking up on things when they are on sale and/or clearance and freezing them to use later! I also shop the weekly sales for making my meal plan during the week and if I still have some holes I go to the cheapest grocery store in my area to fill in the rest.
Did you know you can freeze avocados. Peel and seed. Dip in lime juice and vacuum seal. Let them get almost ripe before freezing. They are a little softer when thawed but excellent.
I really appreciate the breakdown. You find amazing deals. The one thing I will say, though, is that your business expenses help keep your groceries total down as your family eats the meals you prepare for TH-cam. I understand why you keep those totals separate for tax purposes. Realistically you probably wouldn't spend as much as you do for those special meals but I suspect your monthly grocery bill would be higher. I mention this only because there are people who are watching your videos who are probably disappointed when they can't feed their family of 6 for such a low cost. This month was particularly low because I am trying to eat out of the pantry and freezer better than I have in the past. Honestly, if I wasn't doing new TH-cam recipes for videos we would eat a LOT more beans and rice but people get really tired of that content all the time. ;)
I'm not sure if I missed it. Are the meals made specifically for youtube eaten by your family or do you do something else with that food? If your family is eating that food then you have to include the cost in the total you are spending to feed your family. You can still put it in as a business expense, but you also have to count it towards the family groceries.
I believe if her family doesn’t eat it, she usually packs it up for someone in need in her community. She’s mentioned people that had various needs before.
I'm so jealous on the huge markdowns your stores offer. I have a Walmart, Aldi, and Shop n Save where I live and they don't mark thing down much at all. "Buy or freeze today" items are only marked down 10%. We do have a small Dollar Tree and Dollar General but they don't have refrigerator sections. We don't have a bread outlet anymore either. If I had your stores, I could save a lot more.
Wow I thought my 33% of expiring meat was bad! Honestly though you still can build up a freezer over time, I'm on Long Island, NY & do pretty well with savings. I'm jealous of the produce discounts, I hardly ever get them. 😫
Aldi sale stuff gets bought up in the 1st two hours there open. Best markdown day is usually Tuesday morning in my town because the new sales start on Wednesday. I usually can get lots of meat and bread products for 50% off.
Ohhh... Christine found 8 oz of cheese on sale for $1.69. ( 21 cents per ounce) .. I just bought sale cheese here in Vancouver for 600 grams for $9; that's 41 cents per ounce.. no wonder I cannot match these grocery haul prices. I would say even shopping the sales, going to the cheapest ethnic markets around etc. prices are easily double here. But even so, ALL Christine's tips and recipes are helpful! By using many of her strategies, I have cut my grocery bill by a lot!! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing these videos, Christine! I love watching them! My goal is less than $400 a month for me and my husband (and our dog 😉). That $400 a month includes all household products (Toilet paper, laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, tooth products, etc.) and dog food. We do get some help from WIC, which has been really nice. We are expecting a baby girl who will be born in the next 5-7 weeks 😳 So I'm also stocking up on some things, like extra Toilet paper, trash bags, and laundry detergent, so that we don't have to think about that during the early newborn weeks. Always working to get groceries down, since that is one of our flexible expenses that we have some control over. But wow! Inflation has made it really tricky!

They do in my house for sure. Household and pet food. We have 8 animals ....so a zoo basically. Between their food and supplies and household items and food for us It all can feel out of control quick
We keep household items and pet items separate from my grocery budget. We only have 2 cats and we buy their food and litter is the biggest sizes possible. We also buy household items in bulk at Sams and get them maybe 2x a yr for cleaning items and 4x a yr for paper products and trash bags.
Hmm.. it feels wery strange when you put all the cost of the Pioner woman... in the column Business expences and non in the food. Ofc you should have it as Business expences to (since you have a business and need to put it in the company accountings) but I think you should add it into the cost of feeding your family to when you add all food costs together. It´s not like you made the video and didn´t eat the food, you still had to buy food to feed your family those days. A taste test like the Reeses doesn´t feel the same
You broke up your expenses into different groups so it seemed lower but if it all comes out of 1 bank account like mine does then it is the total expense. Which is much higher. Plus you are shopping frequently throughout the week. What about families that don't have the time or gas money? Basically you are shopping the sales. Which is good but not enough to truly help most families.

I went to Kroger Saturday and ,blew my budget lol, but so worth it! Bc they had pork loin 10/$10 a pack so I got 4 packs and they had 3lbs rolls of hamburger meat for under $9! I was like omg buying 3 of those too! So I stocked up on meat and got everything broken down into baggies and meal prepped a few things for this WK. We even tried a new recipe that was q hit for most of our kids 💝 Like yay! 💝 This morning while watching TH-cam I have cut some colored bell peppers and green bell peppers (that are on their last legs) and put them in baggies in the freezer. I'm like man Monday is going good! 💝 I don't normally do this lol So I'm like this will help me this wk. It's a busy wk and I know this will help me lol
You mean 10 pork loin chops for $10? 2.5lbs of pork for $10 is expensive. Just a tip if you buy a pork loin half or whole boneless they will cut it into whatever size chops you want. :) can get them from $1.49lb to $2.49lb here. I found that out because my dad went to meat cutting school MANY years ago. I do that now. Or just cut it myself. 2 roasts one from each end and the middle into 1 inch chops. Thought I'd just let you know.

Now I know why when I went to Walmart after the holidays to try and get a few of those holiday body care packs I couldn't find any. Seems a little insensitive. I understand getting a few months worth, a few boxes of each, but this much seems to be excessive. The year before I was able to score 2 packs of razors, 2 packs of body wash, and 2 packs of lotion. I felt that was a blessing and helped cut those expenses for several months. This year I could literally not find a single holiday pack at the numerous Walmarts I went to, so videos like this are kind of frustrating.

We took a risk on the generic brand rinse aid at Walmart recently, and it works just as well as Jet Dry for like half the price. Definitely worth a try!!

This is a great idea to track monthly spending on food. I need to do this. Though honestly, I’m mildly afraid I’ll have a coronary. It’s ridiculous how much I’m spending on food, and I’m a 1-person household! I do think the comment above about shopping sakes and then figuring it out when you get home is a good idea, rather than shopping for recipes. Of course, that also means you don’t necessarily have a put together list, which (at least for a household of one), could lead to waste if I’m not careful.
I usually check the sales flyers before I go shopping, and only buy the items which are on sale, which we will eat. I have no problem cherry picking (only going into the store for the sale items, and them leaving). We do have a multitude of stores to choose from, which many do not.
I have lived in Spain for 7 years and I do miss some of the American stuff, I love watching grocery hauls to see the things I cant get anymore. It is amazing how many options there are in America. Its great here, but boy do I miss the glittering variety of whatever kind of ethnic food you can get at any moment.

@@heidibonjour Excellent choices, I used to live in Madrid if you like seafood this place is off the charts and super local, Ribeira do Miño, in Malasana neighbourhood. Giant, and I mean giant seafood towers for like $50 full of crab and shrimp. Casa Mingo is a bit out of the way in Madrid but all the cab drivers know it bc it is dead cheap and amazing Roasted Chicken and hard cider. The chorizo is fantastic. Cava Baja in the La Latina neighbourhood is a great tapas street tons of little places that fill up fast, this place La Perejila is a Gem, green and red with flamingo memorabilia everywhere...The Mercado San Miguel near plaza mayor is touristy but in the corner in this no frills seafood stall standing room only and they just serve you the freshest stuff on paper plates. Seek out the secret nun cookies at convents from the cloistered sisters...its great. I cant help with Seville, I have only been once an am actually doing a big trip down south in a couple weeks. I would say if it is your first time in Spain, Siesta is real, most things close btw 3-5pm. Lunch is from 1-330pm, and dinner is 830-10pm. Locals have coffee breaks at 11am-ish and from 5-7pm. The hole in the walls that look sketchy and are filled with salty old people generally have the best stuff. But if you want to splash out, having a cocktail at the Ritz and getting dressed up is always super fun. have a great time and Viva España!

We use wic. It’s a life saver!! So our weekly out of pocket is around $20 and once a month we spend $100 on meat at sams. It’s fantastic!! $180 for my tiny family is perfect!
I feel like I’m your area, things are probably cheaper. I like to buy things on sale all the time, and I coupon at cvs, Walgreens for household, toiletries items which helps a lot. To keep cost down , I shop at Aldi a lot.

Good to see it can still be done! I spent 5x what I budgeted in January. A significant portion of this was on pet supplies and garden stuff, so I hope it pays off in the long-run. (I count garden stuff as groceries since the goal is to eat healthier and save money at the store.) In the meantime, I need to seriously cut back in spending these next few months.
I buy a pack of 10 + variety heirloom seeds for under 20 on Amazon. They take beautifully. And start the seedlings end of February in empty egg cups I save for east transplanting. I don’t spend much on garden supplies with these little savings.
@@box2bliss927 I might have to try that! ... I didn't spend much on plants, but I did purchase some new containers, growing media, and a small fence to keep our dog out of the garden. She thought it was her own personal snack bar last year. ... I expect these things to last several years. So it shouldn't be too bad in the long-run.

Love this grocery haul vids! When your budget allows, I suggest the compostable freezer bags and sandwich bags as they are more environmentally friendly. I get ours at Target.

Canadian here too with 3 plus a dog. Always on the lookout for deals. Cleaned our freezer out this weekend (-45 out) and found all kinds of good stuff. Your budget is lower than mine but I'm working at it.

@@celticlassie For myself and one other who's here 30 % of the time, it was about $650 month, but now it's closer to $400 in metro Vancouver. I'm experimenting with other coffees ( Starbucks beans at $19 / pound were costing $48 for 2.5 pounds/ month. ) and I also cut out my Balderson cheese habit ( $60 +/ month on cheese) to generic cheeses and so cheese budget is down to about $20 /month. I started study my grocery receipts at home, and started to shop the sales... I'm continuing to see if I can get this lower. I have no idea how some of these people, even here in Canada, do these super low budgets !
@@celticlassie I have a large garden and forage in the summer time ( mushrooms, berries, we fish and hunt etc) I canne everything and anything I can. It helps me to not buy so much in the off season so I can concentrate on getting meat. For personal car, I use swagbucks points ( gives me amazon gift card). I am gluten-free, my husband has crohn and we are all lactose intolerant including my daughter. Weirdly enough it helps because we can't buy treats. I've been doing this for 8 years now so I rarely run out of things so I can shop around for better deals. Ps I'm french so I apologize in advance for my written mistakes. :)
When it comes to avocados, buy them hard ,leave them uncovered next to the fruit .helps them ripe faster .As soon as they change color and are soft to the touch put them in the fridge an they’ll last for about 2 weeks or more.

Least expensive eggs I have found are at Whole Foods! $2.99 for a dozen of the organic brown ones. I’m in CA. Target is over $6.00 and Aldi even more than that.
Wow that’s amazing for organic. I pay $5 for organic here. Sometimes I’ve noticed organic is cheaper than conventional lately. Maybe organic birds are not prone to flu.

Not sure if the Costco around you carry’s the 30 count of eggs, but where I live in Canada, we can get a carton of 30 eggs for 9.39, and it’s by far the cheapest around us for eggs.
My daughter asked me for help lowering their family of three's monthly grocery expenses. My first piece of advice: Look for the orange (sell by today) tags in the meat, produce and bakery sections. I haven't paid full price for regular or plant-based meat in ages.

I would have bought the snot out of the sausage and chocolate chips too. Bagels are so easy to make and you can make them at a reasonable size. I feel the store bought ones are just too large. Our favorite is cheddar and bacon mixed in and then before baking topped with reconstituted onions. We also make soft pretzels but in balls instead of pretzel shapes because it's just too large.
I got some tollhouse chips for 10 cents a piece, bought all 30 12 oz packages. I saw them next week and they were now 10 oz. see if yours shrink too. :)
Does anyone ever feel "guilty" for grabbing all the marked down stuff and not leaving any for other customers? I saw the same sausages! But the Store Brand was actually cheaper and had fewer added ingredients. so I ended up taking just one and leaving the rest and buying the store brand instead.
So right about the avocados! We do a little happy dance if we are fortunate enough to hit that golden window where they are not crunchy but not yet browning on the actual day we need them. ;)
I would like to know if your family eats the food purchased for your business and if you use leftover business ingredients for personal use. If your family does eat the business expense meals and you use the leftover business ingredients for personal use, then the amount of money spent for business groceries isn’t completely a business expense.
Costco has extra large eggs in my area 18 count for $5.88. Christine your hair looks great and I do like the grey sweater. Chocolate chips freeze so well and are there when you need for $1 bag. That's a steal. I want some .69 cent eggplant, bell peppers and avocados.

I find that the best deodorant is any type of alum crystal. It lasts long time, too. Sweat don’t stink. It smells only when mixed with bacteria. So you might want to do laundry stripping on all your towels and kids’ clothes once in a while. My husband always had foot odor issues, and we tried powder, cream, spray etc… and no luck😭 It was when I started to do laundry stripping his socks everyday that smell went away completely.
I'm ok with blowing my budget 1 month to stock on things my family will use for the next couple months. Some months are just too good to not get several months of need at 50-80% off the price. For example I will buy almost a years worth of Cheerios at Costco when the huge double boxes are on sale for $3.60. Then when we are running out they usually go on sale again the next summer for back to school time. That alone saves me almost $60.
Im in Spokane Valley, a dozen eggs at Walmart was $2 yesterday. Ive seen all these crazy egg prices but our is still low. My concern is the only option was the $2 Walmart brand eggs or the egglands best for over $5... why are the Walmart eggs so cheap... what are they not telling us about those eggs. Hmmmm

So Idaho Falls Costco currently has a bag of avocado for 4.59 you get 6 HUGE avocado for the price....you do have to wait a few days for them to ripen up but a better deal for your buck 😉
My brain can't separate food from household & personal care, they usually come from the same places so it's all one budget to me. I always shopped smart but didn't really follow a budget last year. This year I did some research, the average for just food for a family of 2 adults in my area is $160/week! I know I can do better so that's my budget for all 3 categories I mentioned for 3 adults. I'm rolling over unused to pay for Costco/BJ's runs & so far I'm on track! 💖
I’m the opposite, I have to separate food, supplies and household items. Separate budget for each. Because a lot of supplies are for 2 months. It’s harder to stick to a budget when everything is mixed in. Been doing this for 11 years and sticking to our budget this way.
@Yana K I set a budget & roll over extra for those things that last longer. That's why it's nice to have the internet now, to see how different people do things & learn what works for us. So much easier than reading several different books back in the day.
You get some great prices on produce! Maybe it’s because we eat mainly organic but what we buy is easily 2-3x the deals you find! We have a large pantry stock but we still spend so much monthly. Going to try and slim down the pantry this month and hopefully spend less. Do all your family members get all their food from home? Do the kids eat school lunches or anything? Btw your hair looks really cute in braids!
I couldn't stop laughing at the avocado description! "green, hard as a rock and hope we open them at the perfect time because if you miss that 10 minute window"....EXACTLY my experience. I love them but for some reason, I buy them during the day, green and hard, they chose ripen at midnight and by morning they're dark and inedible with brown spots.

@@wolflover4life19and just as a suggestion to ANYONE if yall have the ability to raise chickens, an incubator is a costly investment but WORTHY if one could consider spending $200 on a flock or eggs. That 1 time investment tho can pay out year after year by circumventing the need for a hatchery. Meat birds are a different thing tho. If u want consistency of texture and familiar MODERN cookery then commercial meat birds from the store or a hatchery are a must. If u know how to tweak the cooking, prepping, breeding of the birds then eating is OK, but it IS DIFFERENT than what we get from the grocery store today.

I've had chickens for over 10 years now - but sadly, they aren't laying right now when I really NEED them too! I know it's related to shorter days and less light, so I probably need to have my husband hook up a light on a timer to encourage some egg laying - but goodness, for now, I'm paying for chicken food AND buying eggs at the store! YIKES! Just sayin'....even if you have chickens, you still have expenses for food, scratch, a few treats once in a while, etc. And, like eggs, the price of chicken food isn't getting any cheaper, either!
I’m still a little confused… did you eat the PW dinners? If that fed your family then that was technically your groceries. I think you’re very frugal and I enjoy the videos so much, I just have a little trouble with the math if you don’t include all the food you ate.

I think the difference in her family groceries and her TH-cam groceries really shows the power of slowly buying things over time when on sale! Most of us probably shop like the TH-cam groceries- here’s 5 recipes for the week and what I need to buy. Does usually end up being about $100 for just dinners and then you add on all the other stuff for breakfasts and lunches.

That is good insight for those thinking she is being dishonest about how much she spends monthly. Because that 100.00 is feeding her family for 5 nights some might think she is "cheating" in a way. But they need to look at it this way. She is providing meal ideas and then on the other hand deal savings. They need to separate the two.

I disagree. Because then she could just claim all of her groceries are for videos. I think for the sake of authenticity if her family eats it it’s counts toward the grocery budget. I also think anytime she purchases meat from half a cow or a whole cow should count because that means she doesn’t have to buy it at the store. But she can do what she wants to do is her channel.
I cut down on grocery bill by eating PBJ or cereal or sandwich for lunch. It's saves so much money and time. Or make pizza roll ups. Tortilla topped with cheese pepperoni and cheese roll up and warm on top of stove. My kiddos loved it. New easy lunch ideas.
Can you also please let us know if the business food expenses are being used as meals for your family as that reduces your grocery bills.
I have such a hard time saying no to foods I crave when I am in store. Grocery pick-up is saving our budget. I love getting to see how much I am about to spend and having a chance to adjust what is in my cart before I buy.

About 10 - 12 months ago started changing my diet etc. I cut about a lot of junk food etc. It was because of health issues and not being able to exercise etc. Slowly losing weight. Plus interment fasting most of time etc. Also cutting down portions etc. I still have some goodies once in a while etc. How I do it, hunger pains are never as painful as back, leg, neck and migraines pains. I figure if I can get through all pain hunger pains are not bad. 😂 I keep binge goodies out of house. It's not easy but doing it. Their is nothing that is a no no just not every day or every week. So I save money. Good time to do it as food is ridiculously high. Of course I price around every where for food etc. 🤪😝😁🌸

Did you know you can freeze avocados. Peel and seed. Dip in lime juice and vacuum seal. Let them get almost ripe before freezing. They are a little softer when thawed but excellent.

I really appreciate the breakdown. You find amazing deals. The one thing I will say, though, is that your business expenses help keep your groceries total down as your family eats the meals you prepare for TH-cam. I understand why you keep those totals separate for tax purposes. Realistically you probably wouldn't spend as much as you do for those special meals but I suspect your monthly grocery bill would be higher. I mention this only because there are people who are watching your videos who are probably disappointed when they can't feed their family of 6 for such a low cost.

This month was particularly low because I am trying to eat out of the pantry and freezer better than I have in the past. Honestly, if I wasn't doing new TH-cam recipes for videos we would eat a LOT more beans and rice but people get really tired of that content all the time. ;)
I'm not sure if I missed it. Are the meals made specifically for youtube eaten by your family or do you do something else with that food? If your family is eating that food then you have to include the cost in the total you are spending to feed your family. You can still put it in as a business expense, but you also have to count it towards the family groceries.

I'm so jealous on the huge markdowns your stores offer. I have a Walmart, Aldi, and Shop n Save where I live and they don't mark thing down much at all. "Buy or freeze today" items are only marked down 10%. We do have a small Dollar Tree and Dollar General but they don't have refrigerator sections. We don't have a bread outlet anymore either. If I had your stores, I could save a lot more.
Wow I thought my 33% of expiring meat was bad! Honestly though you still can build up a freezer over time, I'm on Long Island, NY & do pretty well with savings. I'm jealous of the produce discounts, I hardly ever get them. 😫
Aldi sale stuff gets bought up in the 1st two hours there open. Best markdown day is usually Tuesday morning in my town because the new sales start on Wednesday. I usually can get lots of meat and bread products for 50% off.

Ohhh... Christine found 8 oz of cheese on sale for $1.69. ( 21 cents per ounce) .. I just bought sale cheese here in Vancouver for 600 grams for $9; that's 41 cents per ounce.. no wonder I cannot match these grocery haul prices. I would say even shopping the sales, going to the cheapest ethnic markets around etc. prices are easily double here. But even so, ALL Christine's tips and recipes are helpful! By using many of her strategies, I have cut my grocery bill by a lot!! Thank you!

My goal is less than $400 a month for me and my husband (and our dog 😉). That $400 a month includes all household products (Toilet paper, laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, tooth products, etc.) and dog food.
We do get some help from WIC, which has been really nice.
We are expecting a baby girl who will be born in the next 5-7 weeks 😳 So I'm also stocking up on some things, like extra Toilet paper, trash bags, and laundry detergent, so that we don't have to think about that during the early newborn weeks.
Always working to get groceries down, since that is one of our flexible expenses that we have some control over. But wow! Inflation has made it really tricky!

We keep household items and pet items separate from my grocery budget. We only have 2 cats and we buy their food and litter is the biggest sizes possible. We also buy household items in bulk at Sams and get them maybe 2x a yr for cleaning items and 4x a yr for paper products and trash bags.

Ofc you should have it as Business expences to (since you have a business and need to put it in the company accountings) but I think you should add it into the cost of feeding your family to when you add all food costs together. It´s not like you made the video and didn´t eat the food, you still had to buy food to feed your family those days. A taste test like the Reeses doesn´t feel the same
You broke up your expenses into different groups so it seemed lower but if it all comes out of 1 bank account like mine does then it is the total expense. Which is much higher. Plus you are shopping frequently throughout the week. What about families that don't have the time or gas money? Basically you are shopping the sales. Which is good but not enough to truly help most families.

I went to Kroger Saturday and ,blew my budget lol, but so worth it! Bc they had pork loin 10/$10 a pack so I got 4 packs and they had 3lbs rolls of hamburger meat for under $9! I was like omg buying 3 of those too! So I stocked up on meat and got everything broken down into baggies and meal prepped a few things for this WK. We even tried a new recipe that was q hit for most of our kids 💝

You mean 10 pork loin chops for $10? 2.5lbs of pork for $10 is expensive. Just a tip if you buy a pork loin half or whole boneless they will cut it into whatever size chops you want. :) can get them from $1.49lb to $2.49lb here. I found that out because my dad went to meat cutting school MANY years ago. I do that now. Or just cut it myself. 2 roasts one from each end and the middle into 1 inch chops. Thought I'd just let you know.

Now I know why when I went to Walmart after the holidays to try and get a few of those holiday body care packs I couldn't find any. Seems a little insensitive. I understand getting a few months worth, a few boxes of each, but this much seems to be excessive. The year before I was able to score 2 packs of razors, 2 packs of body wash, and 2 packs of lotion. I felt that was a blessing and helped cut those expenses for several months. This year I could literally not find a single holiday pack at the numerous Walmarts I went to, so videos like this are kind of frustrating.

This is a great idea to track monthly spending on food. I need to do this. Though honestly, I’m mildly afraid I’ll have a coronary. It’s ridiculous how much I’m spending on food, and I’m a 1-person household! I do think the comment above about shopping sakes and then figuring it out when you get home is a good idea, rather than shopping for recipes. Of course, that also means you don’t necessarily have a put together list, which (at least for a household of one), could lead to waste if I’m not careful.
I usually check the sales flyers before I go shopping, and only buy the items which are on sale, which we will eat. I have no problem cherry picking (only going into the store for the sale items, and them leaving). We do have a multitude of stores to choose from, which many do not.

I have lived in Spain for 7 years and I do miss some of the American stuff, I love watching grocery hauls to see the things I cant get anymore. It is amazing how many options there are in America. Its great here, but boy do I miss the glittering variety of whatever kind of ethnic food you can get at any moment.

@@heidibonjour Excellent choices, I used to live in Madrid if you like seafood this place is off the charts and super local, Ribeira do Miño, in Malasana neighbourhood. Giant, and I mean giant seafood towers for like $50 full of crab and shrimp. Casa Mingo is a bit out of the way in Madrid but all the cab drivers know it bc it is dead cheap and amazing Roasted Chicken and hard cider. The chorizo is fantastic. Cava Baja in the La Latina neighbourhood is a great tapas street tons of little places that fill up fast, this place La Perejila is a Gem, green and red with flamingo memorabilia everywhere...The Mercado San Miguel near plaza mayor is touristy but in the corner in this no frills seafood stall standing room only and they just serve you the freshest stuff on paper plates. Seek out the secret nun cookies at convents from the cloistered sisters...its great. I cant help with Seville, I have only been once an am actually doing a big trip down south in a couple weeks. I would say if it is your first time in Spain, Siesta is real, most things close btw 3-5pm. Lunch is from 1-330pm, and dinner is 830-10pm. Locals have coffee breaks at 11am-ish and from 5-7pm. The hole in the walls that look sketchy and are filled with salty old people generally have the best stuff. But if you want to splash out, having a cocktail at the Ritz and getting dressed up is always super fun. have a great time and Viva España!

We use wic. It’s a life saver!! So our weekly out of pocket is around $20 and once a month we spend $100 on meat at sams. It’s fantastic!! $180 for my tiny family is perfect!
I feel like I’m your area, things are probably cheaper. I like to buy things on sale all the time, and I coupon at cvs, Walgreens for household, toiletries items which helps a lot. To keep cost down , I shop at Aldi a lot.

Good to see it can still be done! I spent 5x what I budgeted in January. A significant portion of this was on pet supplies and garden stuff, so I hope it pays off in the long-run. (I count garden stuff as groceries since the goal is to eat healthier and save money at the store.) In the meantime, I need to seriously cut back in spending these next few months.
I buy a pack of 10 + variety heirloom seeds for under 20 on Amazon. They take beautifully. And start the seedlings end of February in empty egg cups I save for east transplanting. I don’t spend much on garden supplies with these little savings.

She thought it was her own personal snack bar last year. ... I expect these things to last several years. So it shouldn't be too bad in the long-run.

I'm experimenting with other coffees ( Starbucks beans at $19 / pound were costing $48 for 2.5 pounds/ month. ) and I also cut out my Balderson cheese habit ( $60 +/ month on cheese) to generic cheeses and so cheese budget is down to about $20 /month. I started study my grocery receipts at home, and started to shop the sales... I'm continuing to see if I can get this lower. I have no idea how some of these people, even here in Canada, do these super low budgets !
@@celticlassie I have a large garden and forage in the summer time ( mushrooms, berries, we fish and hunt etc) I canne everything and anything I can. It helps me to not buy so much in the off season so I can concentrate on getting meat. For personal car, I use swagbucks points ( gives me amazon gift card). I am gluten-free, my husband has crohn and we are all lactose intolerant including my daughter. Weirdly enough it helps because we can't buy treats. I've been doing this for 8 years now so I rarely run out of things so I can shop around for better deals. Ps I'm french so I apologize in advance for my written mistakes. :)

When it comes to avocados, buy them hard ,leave them uncovered next to the fruit .helps them ripe faster .As soon as they change color and are soft to the touch put them in the fridge an they’ll last for about 2 weeks or more.

Least expensive eggs I have found are at Whole Foods! $2.99 for a dozen of the organic brown ones. I’m in CA. Target is over $6.00 and Aldi even more than that.

Not sure if the Costco around you carry’s the 30 count of eggs, but where I live in Canada, we can get a carton of 30 eggs for 9.39, and it’s by far the cheapest around us for eggs.
My daughter asked me for help lowering their family of three's monthly grocery expenses. My first piece of advice: Look for the orange (sell by today) tags in the meat, produce and bakery sections. I haven't paid full price for regular or plant-based meat in ages.

We buy a big log cheese from walmart and dont have to buy cheese for a loong time
I would have bought the snot out of the sausage and chocolate chips too. Bagels are so easy to make and you can make them at a reasonable size. I feel the store bought ones are just too large. Our favorite is cheddar and bacon mixed in and then before baking topped with reconstituted onions. We also make soft pretzels but in balls instead of pretzel shapes because it's just too large.

I got some tollhouse chips for 10 cents a piece, bought all 30 12 oz packages. I saw them next week and they were now 10 oz. see if yours shrink too. :)

I stocked up on cookie dough. It was 75¢ each and safe to eat raw. I bought 10 packages and put them in the freezer.
Does anyone ever feel "guilty" for grabbing all the marked down stuff and not leaving any for other customers? I saw the same sausages! But the Store Brand was actually cheaper and had fewer added ingredients. so I ended up taking just one and leaving the rest and buying the store brand instead.

Ripen them in the fridge. It takes longer, but it gives you a wider window.
I would like to know if your family eats the food purchased for your business and if you use leftover business ingredients for personal use. If your family does eat the business expense meals and you use the leftover business ingredients for personal use, then the amount of money spent for business groceries isn’t completely a business expense.
Costco has extra large eggs in my area 18 count for $5.88. Christine your hair looks great and I do like the grey sweater. Chocolate chips freeze so well and are there when you need for $1 bag. That's a steal. I want some .69 cent eggplant, bell peppers and avocados.

I find that the best deodorant is any type of alum crystal. It lasts long time, too.
Sweat don’t stink. It smells only when mixed with bacteria. So you might want to do laundry stripping on all your towels and kids’ clothes once in a while.
My husband always had foot odor issues, and we tried powder, cream, spray etc… and no luck😭
It was when I started to do laundry stripping his socks everyday that smell went away completely.

I'm ok with blowing my budget 1 month to stock on things my family will use for the next couple months. Some months are just too good to not get several months of need at 50-80% off the price. For example I will buy almost a years worth of Cheerios at Costco when the huge double boxes are on sale for $3.60. Then when we are running out they usually go on sale again the next summer for back to school time. That alone saves me almost $60.
Im in Spokane Valley, a dozen eggs at Walmart was $2 yesterday. Ive seen all these crazy egg prices but our is still low. My concern is the only option was the $2 Walmart brand eggs or the egglands best for over $5... why are the Walmart eggs so cheap... what are they not telling us about those eggs. Hmmmm
A dozen eggs in tri cities is close to 7 dollars. I do buy free range. But that is still so high.

So Idaho Falls Costco currently has a bag of avocado for 4.59 you get 6 HUGE avocado for the price....you do have to wait a few days for them to ripen up but a better deal for your buck 😉

My brain can't separate food from household & personal care, they usually come from the same places so it's all one budget to me. I always shopped smart but didn't really follow a budget last year. This year I did some research, the average for just food for a family of 2 adults in my area is $160/week! I know I can do better so that's my budget for all 3 categories I mentioned for 3 adults. I'm rolling over unused to pay for Costco/BJ's runs & so far I'm on track! 💖
I’m the opposite, I have to separate food, supplies and household items. Separate budget for each. Because a lot of supplies are for 2 months. It’s harder to stick to a budget when everything is mixed in. Been doing this for 11 years and sticking to our budget this way.
@Yana K I set a budget & roll over extra for those things that last longer. That's why it's nice to have the internet now, to see how different people do things & learn what works for us. So much easier than reading several different books back in the day.
You get some great prices on produce! Maybe it’s because we eat mainly organic but what we buy is easily 2-3x the deals you find! We have a large pantry stock but we still spend so much monthly. Going to try and slim down the pantry this month and hopefully spend less.
Do all your family members get all their food from home? Do the kids eat school lunches or anything?

I couldn't stop laughing at the avocado description! "green, hard as a rock and hope we open them at the perfect time because if you miss that 10 minute window"....EXACTLY my experience. I love them but for some reason, I buy them during the day, green and hard, they chose ripen at midnight and by morning they're dark and inedible with brown spots.
