Spring Qigong | Wood Element

- The wood element is all about new life. The associated meridians (liver and gall bladder) govern the free flow of qi, and our ability to plan and to act on our plans. Here we clear and tone the liver and gall bladder meridians, along with some work on the lung, which supports and regulates the liver meridian.
I'm sorry if you see intrusive ads. I will turn them off as soon as I can! You can help me get there quicker by subscribing and sharing. Thanks :)
Meanwhile, the routine is ad-free here: vimeo.com/aman...
KNOCKING ON THE GATE OF LIFE
Warms up the spine and gets the energy flowing. Keep the arms relaxed so that they swing out naturally. Loose fists knock on the belly and lower back, and on the lung points at the front of the shoulders.
SHAKING AND PATTING
Clearing tension and stagnant energy from the body.
First we shake, feeling every joint and muscle loosening. You may feel tingly and buzzy afterwards - a sign that the chi is beginning to move!
Then we pat over all the meridian lines in the body, clearing their flow.
SWEEPING ARMS
Opens and energises the liver and gall bladder meridians.
Use sword fingers - the index and middle fingers held together.
Stay within your comfort zone here, but do make sure you enjoy a pleasant side stretch.
LARGE INTESTINE CLEANSING
Supporting the Wood Element with the Metal element, from the excellent Organ Cleansing routine of Daisy Lee and Garri Garripoli.
Lead with the little finger, drawing fluid figure eights in front of the belly. The more flowing and relaxed you can make this move, the better.
LUNG CLEANSING
Again from the Organ Cleansing routine, here we cleanse the lungs.
Inhale as the hands rise and exhale as they fall. You can imagine you are polishing the inside of a metal sphere with your palms.
PUSHING CHI
A wonderful liver clearance exercise.
The palm comes to the side of the body at the level of the liver as you inhale, and pushes diagonally outwards as you exhale.
The negative emotions of the liver and gall bladder are anger, frustration, stuckness, and they impair our ability to function in life.
As you push, imagine you are releasing these negative emotions, saying 'No' to whatever is in your way.
You should feel calmer and clearer.
WINDMILLS
Again this energises the liver and gall bladder meridians, while also providing a balanced flow of energy for the system.
Inhale as the hands rise and exhale as they fall. The palms point first in the direction of the heavens, and then the earth, creating a balanced flow of chi between the two.
HOLDING THE LIVER
Rub the palms together and gently shake out to activate the lao gong points in the palm, where we release healing chi. Again you may feel a pleasant tingling or buzzing.
Then place your palms over the bottom of the ribcage, sending healing energy to the liver and gall bladder.
BRINGING DOWN THE HEAVENS
Inhale as the hands rise, bringing earth chi up through the body and gathering heavenly chi with your palms.
Exhale and bring that heavenly chi showering down through the body and into the earth.
COMPLETION
One hand over the other on the belly, as the qi you've generated absorbs back into the body.
Thank you for practising with me, and I wish you a great rest of the day! 😊🙏

You're very welcome, Carol! Sorry, I didn't see this till just now. Wishing you a great day and happy practising 😊🌷
Such an invigorating routine. Did this one outside barefoot since I am trying to connect to the earth more. Not helpful when it is in the 30-40 degree F range haha my toes and like ice!
Hello Joanna! Sorry for the delay in replying, I only just saw this. YT doesn't tell me about comments any more. I hope all is well with you.
Haha, I love barefoot practice and it really does make a difference, but gosh that sounds cold! 😂
